Chapter 89 Zhu Huilan's maternal grandfather

Chapter 89 Zhu Huilan's maternal grandfather

In this era, more emphasis is placed on spiritual incentives, and less on material rewards. Only a small amount of cash and daily necessities are given as rewards. However, she is very likely to receive the titles of "Technological Innovation Expert" and "Advanced Worker".

Because the chemical plant had not yet been converted into a pharmaceutical plant, and the first batch of pilot pharmaceutical plants selected by the Ministry of Health had not yet been successful, most of her rewards had not been distributed. Fortunately, Director Qian had promised to allow her to set up a laboratory at Hongguang Pharmaceutical Plant, so she was not too worried.

The only immediate and visible reward was that she successfully joined the Party, and that the higher-ups approved another sum of money for the Hongguang Dye Chemical Plant to renovate the sulfadiazine production workshop.

Through this period of training, Lin Yuanshu felt that Director Tang would most likely be in charge of the sulfadiazine production workshop. Director Zhou was much older than Director Tang and was not able to keep up with the training. In addition, he was not a particularly ambitious person, and after feeling that he could not keep up, he did not try to catch up.

Training for workers at Hongguang Dye Chemical Plant has also been expedited. Workers are taking turns receiving training, which will not affect their current production tasks. Currently, only the naphthalene intermediate production workshop has stopped production, while the other two production workshops are still producing dye intermediates.

The Chemical Industry Bureau took the conversion of Hongguang Dye Chemical Plant into a pharmaceutical plant very seriously. They specifically instructed Jishi Pharmaceutical Factory to send some technical backbones, veteran workers and engineers to train the workers of Hongguang Dye Chemical Plant.

This time, Jishi Pharmaceutical Factory received instructions from the Chemical Industry Bureau and did not resort to any underhanded tactics. Instead, they assigned experienced and proactive personnel.

The comrade in charge of bringing the people over said to Lin Yuanshu with great confidence, "If you encounter any difficulties, you can come to Jishi Pharmaceutical Factory. As long as we can help, we will do our best. Hongguang Dye Chemical Factory and Jishi Pharmaceutical Factory are sister factories!"

Lin Yuanshu raised an eyebrow and asked with a smile, "Your boss isn't Deputy Factory Director Lu?"

If it were Deputy Factory Director Lu, he wouldn't be so kind as to consider the interests of Hongguang Dye Chemical Plant; he would only send over a group of slow-moving and inefficient people.

The comrade gave a thumbs up and explained with a smile, "As expected of Comrade Lin Yuanshu, he has a good eye for people. My leader is another deputy director of the pharmaceutical factory. Jishi Pharmaceutical Factory was selected by the Health Bureau as one of the first pilot units. The improvement work was the responsibility of our factory director and my leader. The people assigned to us were also carefully selected by my leader. There was no perfunctory work at all. My leader is very conscientious in everything he does."

Lin Yuanshu nodded thoughtfully and said with a smile, "I will definitely tell Director Qian and Deputy Director Mao about this, so they know how much you, the leader, have done."

Although she didn't know why Jishi Pharmaceutical Factory suddenly had an extra deputy director, it was actually a good thing for her, at least this deputy director didn't have any ill intentions towards the chemical plant or towards her.

The comrade gave a bright smile, bowed to Lin Yuanshu, and said enthusiastically, "Then I'll trouble you."

After returning to Jishi Pharmaceutical Factory, the comrade recounted his conversation with Lin Yuanshu to the deputy factory director.

The deputy factory director smiled with satisfaction. It seemed that he had made the right move and could avoid making enemies with the people at Hongguang Dye Chemical Plant.

His appointment as deputy factory director was somewhat unexpected, as he had never anticipated it. Suddenly he became deputy factory director, suddenly he was in charge of improving the sulfadiazine production process of the pharmaceutical factory, and suddenly he had half of the power in the pharmaceutical factory.

Although it was sudden, he enjoyed it and didn't want to be kicked out by Deputy Factory Director Lu. Unfortunately, he couldn't find out what had happened that led the factory director to promote him to deputy factory director.

All I know is that it seems Deputy Factory Director Lu disobeyed the Factory Director's instructions, which displeased the Factory Director, so he is now doing the opposite of Deputy Factory Director Lu.

Deputy Factory Director Lu disobeys the factory director's orders, yet he never opposes any of the factory director's commands; if the factory director tells him to go east, he won't go west.

Deputy Factory Director Lu disliked Hongguang Dye Chemical Plant and would deliberately target it. So he treated Hongguang Dye Chemical Plant with care and provided it with assistance.

The main idea is to go against the grain.

After Lin Yuanshu finished his training, he handed over all the relevant affairs of the sulfadiazine production workshop to Director Tang without any reluctance.

She still prefers researching drugs and doesn't really like such meticulous management work. Fortunately, Zhou Moli has always been there to help her, so she doesn't get overwhelmed.

Director Tang already had experience managing production workshops, and now he was very familiar with the production process of sulfadiazine tablets, so he was able to handle these matters with ease and quickly got the hang of it. Zhou Moli also became Director Tang's assistant.

Seeing that the sulfadiazine production workshop was gradually improving, Lin Yuanshu put down his heavy burden and no longer needed to worry about the sulfadiazine production workshop. Instead, he focused on the renovation of the mercurochrome and gentian violet production workshops and their production processes.

That day, Lin Yuanshu ran into Zhu Huilan on her way home from get off work. She greeted Zhu Huilan with a smile, "Comrade Zhu Huilan, what a coincidence! I didn't expect to meet you on the road. Where's your son? Didn't you take him out today?"

Zhu Huilan shook her head and explained, "It's not really a coincidence. My son is being cared for by my mother. I came here specifically to see you. Didn't I tell you before that my grandfather wanted to meet you? But everyone got busy afterward, so I didn't mention it again. I saw that you've had some free time lately, so I came here specifically to pick you up to go to my grandfather's house. I've already told your parents-in-law."

Actually, it was her maternal grandfather who insisted that she bring Lin Yuanshu to him. She really couldn't understand why her grandfather would have such an idea. He had never been so eager to see Lin Yuanshu before.

Lin Yuanshu agreed without hesitation, "Okay, let's set off now."

She had no reason not to see Zhu Huilan's grandfather. If it weren't for the fact that Zhu Huilan's grandfather had indirectly provided her with so much information, she wouldn't have been able to improve the sulfadiazine production process so smoothly, nor find a reasonable basis for her pharmaceutical knowledge.

Zhu Huilan's maternal grandfather's house was quite a distance from the chemical plant. Fortunately, Zhu Huilan rode her bicycle there, which saved the two of them from having to walk to take the bus and then walk to the research institute's staff quarters.

Since he was visiting, Lin Yuanshu bought a 10-pound black watermelon from the convenience store in the family compound. Although Zhu Huilan kept saying that it was unnecessary to buy anything, Lin Yuanshu felt that it would be impolite to visit empty-handed.

After buying the items, the two carried the watermelon up to the second floor of the apartment building.

To be fair, although both are buildings, there are quite a few differences between tenement buildings and apartment buildings. Apartment buildings have bicycle sheds in front of them, trash cans inside, streetlights, and tables and chairs in the courtyard, making them better equipped than tenement buildings.

Zhu Huilan's family warmly welcomed Lin Yuanshu's arrival. Zhu Huilan's mother quickly took the watermelon from Lin Yuanshu's hand and then took it to the kitchen to slice it.

Grandma Zhu Huilan smiled and pulled Lin Yuanshu to sit down on the sofa. She slowly said, "Next time you come, you mustn't bring anything. You don't need to be so polite with us. I've always wanted to meet you, but Huilan has never brought you. If you ask me, you young people are quick-witted. It's all thanks to your help that my granddaughter was able to get rid of her troublesome mother-in-law."

Such a despicable idea is beyond the comprehension of most people. They met too late. If she had had such a friend when she was young, her mother-in-law would have suffered instead. She was too kind to her mother-in-law back then.

Lin Yuanshu waved his hand in help and quickly denied it, saying, "Actually, I didn't help her much. On the contrary, she helped me a lot."

Grandma Zhu Huilan held Lin Yuanshu's hand and said earnestly, "Friends should help each other. It's only right that she helped you, after all, you helped her so much."

Zhu Huilan's mother placed the sliced watermelon on the table and shouted, "Come and eat the watermelon, it's all cut up."

Zhu Huilan's relatives came out from the inner room, each carrying a slice of watermelon, and greeted Lin Yuanshu with smiles.

After exchanging a few pleasantries with these people, Lin Yuanshu saw Zhu Huilan's maternal grandfather come out of another room. Zhu Huilan's maternal grandfather was not tall, but he stood up straight and had no extra expression on his face. He looked very serious, which matched her impression of researchers of this era.

She quickly stood up and said very politely, "Grandpa Huilan, hello, thank you for your information, it has been a great help to me."

Zhu Huilan's grandfather picked up the watermelon and said in a serious tone, "No need to be so polite with me, sit down and eat the watermelon! I know about your work on improving the production process of sulfadiazine, and I am very pleased. As long as you can apply what you have learned, then my materials will not have been given in vain. As long as you can learn a little bit, then my materials will have a place to be used."

Lin Yuanshu raised an eyebrow. Hearing this, she guessed that Zhu Huilan's maternal grandfather must be from the same research institute as Director Yu and others. After all, other research institutes did not have such in-depth knowledge of this matter. They only knew that someone had improved the production process of sulfadiazine, but did not know that the person was her.

She smiled and agreed, "You're right. Information is meant for people to learn from. As long as people learn knowledge, it has fulfilled its mission."

After saying that, she sat back down on the sofa and started eating watermelon. The watermelon was crisp, sweet, and juicy, making you want to eat more. The only pity was that it wasn't chilled, otherwise it would have been even tastier.

This was the first time she had eaten watermelon since she traveled to this era. Last year, she didn't have any because she didn't have enough money, and this year she was too busy to even think about it.

Ten pounds of watermelon may seem like a lot, but with so many people, each person took a slice, and there wasn't much left.

After finishing the watermelon, Lin Yuanshu felt her fingers were sticky with watermelon juice, so she went to the kitchen to wash them. She really liked the layout of the house; it was small but complete, and although it was a two-bedroom apartment, it had everything she needed.

It's much better than a single room in a tenement building; you don't have to cook or use the toilet outside.

Unfortunately, the houses allocated by Hongguang Dye Chemical Plant were either single rooms in tenement buildings or single rooms in courtyard houses; there was no option for apartment buildings. In those days, apartment buildings were considered "welfare housing."

Lin Yuanshu had just come out of the kitchen when Zhu Huilan's grandfather called her into the room. She guessed that Zhu Huilan's grandfather probably wanted to talk to her about improving the sulfadiazine production process.

As soon as she entered the room, Zhu Huilan's grandfather brought her a chair. Lin Yuanshu quickly took the chair and politely said, "Thank you, I can do it myself."

Zhu Huilan's maternal grandfather sat in the chair opposite Lin Yuanshu, a faint smile on his face, and began to get down to business, "I am very pleased that you have achieved such success, and I am also glad that my information can help you. The reason why I did not stand up and declare my relationship with you in the research institute was not because I looked down on you, but because I did not want the people in the research institute to focus on me and ignore your talent. In fact, I have been following up on your improvement of the sulfadiazine production process through Huilan. I was originally thinking that if you encountered any difficulties, I would help you, but I thought that you had handled most of the things by yourself."

Lin Yuanshu paused for a moment, then said very seriously, "Thank you for everything you've done for me. Actually, I don't care about it. It's your honor that the people at the research institute are focusing on you. You deserve to be praised. Although we've never met before, in my heart, you're already my teacher."

Zhu Huilan's maternal grandfather deserves this thanks, after all, the materials Zhu Huilan later gave her were indeed invaluable. If it weren't for her maternal grandfather's intention to teach her, these materials would never have reached her hands.

At that time, in Zhu Huilan's grandfather's eyes, she was just someone who had a little interest in pharmaceutical knowledge, yet he was able to give her such great trust.

Providing some information might not seem like much in modern times, but in this era, information is rare.

A hint of appreciation flashed in Zhu Huilan's grandfather's eyes. He said seriously, "It's a bit early to call you teacher now. It won't be too late to call you teacher after you enter the research institute."

Lin Yuanshu was stunned. She could hardly believe her ears. Did Zhu Huilan's grandfather mean that she could work at the research institute?

This is something she never dared to dream of in her past life, and she achieved it so easily in this life?

If you were to ask her if she wanted to, it would be a lie to say no. Who wouldn't want to work at an official research institute?

"I, I... I can do it!" Lin Yuanshu stammered.

Zhu Huilan's grandfather had a smile on his face. Lin Yuanshu now looked like a young girl, unlike her previous calm demeanor.

“When Director Yu and the others went to the Hongguang Dye Chemical Plant, I told Team Leader Lü about your situation and asked him to suggest to Director Yu that you be transferred to the research institute. If it weren’t for the need to avoid suspicion, I would have taken action myself long ago. Director Yu and the others have been busy helping the Ministry of Health promote your improved sulfadiazine production process and haven’t had time to deal with this matter. Otherwise, they would have contacted you long ago. You should receive a notification in a while,” Zhu Huilan’s grandfather said earnestly.

Lin Yuanshu pursed her lips. She hadn't expected that Zhu Huilan's grandfather had made plans for her so early. She felt a mix of emotions.

Zhu Huilan's maternal grandfather said solemnly, "There's no need to thank me. I'm not doing this to help you. I just can't bear to see heroes have no place to use their talents. Even if it were someone else, I would still make plans for them, so you don't need to thank me."

These words somewhat dampened Lin Yuanshu's emotional state. She smiled and said, "Saying thank you is a bit too superficial. I assure you, I will not leave the knowledge I have learned unused; I will definitely put it to good use."

Zhu Huilan's grandfather showed a satisfied expression, "You did the right thing and didn't let my efforts go to waste. This is exactly what I wanted to hear."

He's much better than his granddaughter. She had a perfectly good job, but she insisted on staying home to take care of the children. Luckily, his granddaughter didn't plan to stay home to have and take care of the children forever, otherwise he would have definitely woken her up.

After finishing dinner at Zhu Huilan's maternal grandfather's house, Lin Yuanshu said goodbye. It wasn't that she wanted to leave right after finishing her meal, but rather that if she didn't leave soon, she would have to go home in the dark.

Zhu Huilan's maternal grandmother was particularly reluctant to part with Lin Yuanshu. She felt that she and Lin Yuanshu had a lot in common, especially regarding men and her views on her mother-in-law.

She took a glass jar from the kitchen, which contained her homemade beef sauce. She smiled and said, "This is my family's secret recipe. It's what won over my neighbors. They ask me for more after they've finished eating. Don't be shy. If you feel embarrassed, come and keep this old woman company. Treat me like your godmother."

Lin Yuanshu immediately seized the opportunity and said, "Grandma, I've taken your words to heart. Next time I come for beef sauce, you can't complain that I ask for too much."

Grandma Zhu Huilan laughed heartily and said, "Of course she won't mind, she'll only complain that you didn't ask for enough."

Lin Yuanshu rode Zhu Huilan's bicycle home, while Zhu Huilan took the child back to her biological mother's house. She didn't plan to go back to the tenement building tonight; her husband would pick her up from her mother's house tomorrow.

Zhu Huilan instructed, "Be careful on the road, don't rush, safety comes first."

Lin Yuanshu nodded. "I understand. Be careful on your way."

She then put the beef sauce in the bicycle basket and rode her bicycle home.

Zhu Huilan carried the child and followed behind her mother. The family chatted and laughed as they went home.

The children left one after another, and the room became quiet. Grandma Zhu Huilan asked with a smile, "What do you think of Comrade Lin Yuanshu? I quite like this child. He is intelligent and knows how to behave. You won't regret taking him in."

While flipping through the newspaper in his hand, Zhu Huilan's grandfather slowly said, "It's not even close to being settled yet! You're just making a fuss over nothing. It's like the director and the others have finished their work. I'll go and urge them again. It's just a matter of transferring a young girl! Such a simple thing is being dragged out like this."

Zhu Huilan's grandmother chuckled and said, "You're just being hypocritical. You clearly admire that child, but you just won't admit it."

Zhu Huilan's grandfather coughed awkwardly twice and said softly, "I didn't say I didn't appreciate it. I just think it's a bit too early to talk about these things now. It's not too late to talk about it after Comrade Lin Yuanshu enters the research institute. Good things come to those who wait."

Upon hearing this, Zhu Huilan's grandmother didn't continue to refute her husband's words. She said that good things come to those who wait, and suddenly remembered a saying: "Once this opportunity is gone, it's gone forever..."

Lin Yuanshu hummed a song as she went home, putting the beef sauce in her room. Even though she didn't say anything, Zhou Xiangyang knew she was in a good mood.

"Did something good happen to you?" Zhou Xiangyang looked at Lin Yuanshu with curious eyes.

Lin Yuanshu flashed a bright smile and said excitedly, "I might be going to work in a research institute."

Zhou Xiangyang nodded thoughtfully and said with a smile, "Congratulations."

Lin Yuanshu looked at Zhou Xiangyang with a subtle expression and asked, "Why aren't you surprised at all?"

Zhou Xiangyang blinked and said matter-of-factly, "You improved the sulfadiazine production process, which is something even the researchers at the institute haven't been able to do. With your abilities, it's only natural that you'd get into the institute!"

Lin Yuanshu rubbed his temples, laughing and crying at the same time, "I didn't expect you to think so highly of me. I'm really flattered. I'm just an ordinary person, not as amazing as you imagine."

Zhou Xiangyang fell into deep thought. His wife was probably the kind of person who was capable without realizing it!

If she were an ordinary person, then most of the men in the tenement building wouldn't even be considered ordinary.

Lin Yuanshu chatted with Zhou Xiangyang for a while before brushing his teeth, washing his face, and getting ready to go to bed.

August arrived in the blink of an eye, and Lin Yuanshu still hadn't received a transfer notice. She felt that her chances of getting into the research institute were probably over.

Of course, it's also possible that Director Yu and others were busy training cadres from the Ministry of Health, since the Ministry of Health was preparing to form a mobile technical team to carry out technical improvements to county-level pharmaceutical factories in the surrounding areas.

However, it's not a big problem for her. She can still work as a researcher at Hongguang Pharmaceutical Factory, so she's not without options.

Although somewhat disappointing, it's not unacceptable.

A few days later, the Health Bureau released data on the first batch of pilot projects after improving the sulfadiazine production process, and publicized the success stories of factories such as Jishi Pharmaceutical Factory.

As the leader of the sulfadiazine production process improvement plan, Lin Yuanshu naturally attracted the attention of the Beijing media.

A reporter from the Youth Daily made a special trip to the tenement building to interview Lin Yuanshu. When the neighboring aunties saw the reporter, they were all incredibly excited and ran over to chat with him.

Aunt Wen said confidently, "When it comes to Comrade Lin Yuanshu, no one knows her better than me. We met when she first married into the city, and we've always had a good relationship. Comrade Lin Yuanshu is highly conscious, closely follows the country's call, and is not afraid of hardship or fatigue in her work. She's a good comrade who gets things done. It's just that she didn't meet a good mother-in-law..."

Aunt Hua interrupted Aunt Wen, saying seriously, "Although Comrade Lin Yuanshu's mother-in-law isn't great, Comrade Lin Yuanshu is very filial to her, bringing her back any good food he can find..."

The other women also gathered around, chattering about how good Lin Yuanshu was, without saying a single bad word. After all, they weren't fools; the reporter was going to leave, but Lin Yuanshu was going to stay at the factory, so they didn't need to offend him.

The reporter felt like she was surrounded by a cacophony of ducks quacking incessantly. She finally managed to escape and was about to go upstairs when Aunt Wen relentlessly pressed her, asking, "Can what we've said be published in the newspaper?"

The reporter replied dismissively, "It's very likely to be in the newspaper. I have to go take care of some business first. I'll come back to interview you after I finish interviewing Comrade Lin Yuanshu."

Upon hearing this, the women could only watch the reporter go upstairs with reluctance. If Lin Yuanshu's living room hadn't been so small, they definitely would have followed him.

The reporter arrived at the address and knocked on the door. Zhou Ma opened the door expressionlessly, looked at the unfamiliar woman in front of her, and demanded, "Who are you? What do you want? Who are you looking for?"

Looking at the fierce-looking Zhou Ma, the reporter felt that what those older women said wasn't entirely unfounded; Lin Yuanshu's mother-in-law certainly didn't seem like a good person.

She quickly showed her press card and explained with a smile, "I am a reporter from the Youth Daily. I heard that Comrade Lin Yuanshu has made great efforts in improving the sulfadiazine production process, so I wanted to interview him."

Upon seeing the press pass, Aunt Zhou's expression softened considerably. She smiled and said, "Oh, you're a reporter! Please come in. I was so naive. You look like a good person; how could I mistake you for a bad one!"

The reporter politely inquired, "Is Comrade Lin Yuanshu at home?"

Zhou's mother nodded. "At home."

After she finished speaking, she turned to Sister Xue, who was comforting the child, and instructed, "Why don't you invite the second wife out? I'd like to chat with the reporter for a while."

Sister-in-law Xue glanced at Zhou Ma, then at the reporter, and hurriedly ran to the next room to call Lin Yuanshu to the living room.

She said anxiously to Lin Yuanshu, "Hurry up and go to the living room. A reporter from the Youth Daily is here to interview you. Mom is in the living room talking to the reporter. I'm afraid you'll say something you shouldn't."

Lin Yuanshu raised an eyebrow, put down the book in his hand, and left the room while reassuring her, "Youth Daily is a legitimate newspaper that always promotes positive content and never reports negative information, so you don't need to worry too much. No matter what Mom says, it won't make a difference."

If it were an unscrupulous reporter from her past life, she would have been worried, but in this era, there's no need; reporters these days still have a conscience.

Upon hearing this, Sister-in-law Xue nodded thoughtfully.

In the living room, Zhou Ma didn't say anything bad about Lin Yuanshu. Instead, she told the reporter how she supported Lin Yuanshu's work and how she worked tirelessly for him.

As Lin Yuanshu stepped into the living room, she heard Zhou Ma shamelessly praising her. Her expression was quite subtle. It couldn't be said that Zhou Ma hadn't helped her at all; at least Zhou Ma hadn't caused any trouble or tried to control her while she was busy with work.

As soon as the reporter saw Lin Yuanshu enter the living room, he forgot all about Zhou Ma, after all, she wasn't Lin Yuanshu's mother-in-law who came to interview him.

Lin Yuanshu walked up to the reporter, extended his hand, and introduced himself with a smile, "Hello, reporter, I am Lin Yuanshu. It's a pleasure to meet you. I heard you're here to interview me. I hope you'll take good care of me from now on."

The reporter wiped her hands on her clothes before shaking hands with Lin Yuanshu. Her palms tend to sweat easily when she's nervous, so she wiped them on her clothes to avoid Lin Yuanshu getting a sweaty handshake.

"I've long admired your reputation. I truly admire your learning ability. Despite not having systematically studied pharmaceutical knowledge, you were able to improve the production process of sulfadiazine. That's why I specifically asked my supervisor to let me interview you. If I say anything incorrect, please just point it out."

Lin Yuanshu nodded, then gave a slight smile and said seriously, "It's too noisy outside. Let's interview in my room! It's quieter inside."

The reporter agreed without hesitation.

Zhou Ma watched as Lin Yuanshu led the reporter away, muttering to herself, "Besides them, there are only three people in the living room. How is it considered too many people talking? If they want to talk privately, they can talk privately! Why do they have to make up such a fake reason? We're all family, why do they treat us like outsiders? What can't we hear?"

Sister-in-law Xue whispered a reminder: "The reporters came here to interview the second daughter-in-law, so it's normal for them to want to chat privately."

Aunt Zhou glanced at Sister-in-law Xue and muttered, "You're so good at talking. You didn't even bother to praise me in front of the reporter. I'm a rare and wonderful mother-in-law."

Sister-in-law Xue looked at Zhou Ma with a complicated expression. She felt that Zhou Ma had nothing to do with being a "good mother-in-law". The only similarity between them was that they were both mothers-in-law.

Lin Yuanshu poured the reporter a glass of water, then asked with a smile, "What aspect of the story would you like to interview about?"

The reporter asked seriously, "I heard that you overcame many difficulties to complete the technological innovation in sulfadiazine production. How did you overcome these difficulties? Faced with such a huge task, what belief kept you going? Do you have any experience in technological innovation that you can share with others?"

Lin Yuanshu answered all the reporters' questions with a smile on her face. All her answers conveyed the same message: this was not her achievement alone, but the achievement of a collective, and even more so, the achievement of the nation.

After the interview, Lin Yuanshu relaxed completely and realized that his back was soaked with sweat.

The reporter was also very satisfied with the interview, noting that the interviewer was highly aware, had sound thinking, and didn't say anything inappropriate, bringing the matter to a satisfactory conclusion.

As the reporter left Lin Yuanshu's room, he awkwardly said to Lin Yuanshu, "The older women downstairs are quite enthusiastic. They kept pulling me aside, wanting me to interview them. Could you think of a way to distract them? Or is there another way out? They're probably still waiting for me downstairs. I want to get back to the publishing house as soon as possible."

Lin Yuanshu thought for a moment and said softly, "I'll take you downstairs! With me explaining things for you, they probably won't drag you into an interview."

The reporter nodded and agreed, "Okay, thank you for your help."

The two women went downstairs together, and one of the older women saw the reporter and excitedly shouted, "The reporter is coming downstairs!"

Upon hearing this, the other middle-aged women all turned their attention to the reporter and swarmed over.

Lin Yuanshu whispered, "You leave first, I'll stop them."

The reporter nodded seriously and ran away without looking back.

The women wanted to chase after her, but Lin Yuanshu stopped them. Lin Yuanshu explained with a smile, "The reporter is busy going back to the publishing house to write her article and doesn't have time to continue interviewing you. She has already memorized what you said before."

Aunt Wen exclaimed, "No wonder she's a reporter; her memory is amazing."
