Chapter 88 The Metaphysics Master's Fiancée 05
Yi Qing, do you not want to talk about it?
Lan Changge put all of Luo Shuyu's belongings in the guest room, and then asked, "Shuyu, is there anything missing? If not, I'll head back."
Luo Shuyu established her own metaphysics studio, named Xuan Yue, with the office located in her own home. Apart from the receptionist and her agent Lan Changge, she was the only staff member. Therefore, working at Jiang Yiqing's house wouldn't have much of an impact.
"There shouldn't be any more, thank you for your hard work." Luo Shuyu said with a smile, "I'll treat you to coffee, you can leave after you finish it."
"It's an honor to be able to drink coffee brewed by Shuyu herself."
Luo Shuyu also unexpectedly discovered that the coffee machine in Jiang Yiqing's house was the same model as hers. After thinking about it, she realized that her mother and Aunt Jiang must have bought it together. Moreover, the Jiang family had all kinds of coffee beans. She couldn't help but have the idea of making coffee.
For Luo Shuyu, a cup of coffee every day is essential. When she came to the kitchen, Aunt Qin happened to be there as well, so Luo Shuyu asked, "Aunt Qin, there's so much coffee here, does Yi Qing also like to drink it?"
"No, she doesn't drink coffee much." Aunt Qin said with a smile, "The coffee here is what she prepared for me. This child knows I love coffee, and she always brings me local coffee beans wherever she goes. She's so thoughtful."
Luo Shuyu had originally taken enough coffee beans for four people, but upon hearing this, she paused, hesitating whether to put some back. Aunt Qin said, "But it's also possible that my skill level is just average, which is why Yiqing doesn't like to drink it. If we're the only ones drinking it, Yiqing might feel lonely. Let's make her a cup too, Miss Luo."
Lonely? Aunt Qin's words are really interesting. Luo Shuyu asked, "Would Yi Qing feel lonely because of such a small thing?"
"Yes, I watched that child grow up. That's just the kind of person she is. Even if she doesn't like drinking it, as long as someone gives her something with good intentions, she will always be the first to say it's delicious."
“…Hmm.” Luo Shuyu thought to herself and began to make coffee. Inspired by Aunt Qin, she tried to incorporate her feelings into the coffee.
The coffee, rich and full-bodied with Italian flavor, contained a subtle probing from Luo Shuyu: How exactly do you view our engagement?
Compared to Jiang Yiqing's approach of avoiding the topic, Luo Shuyu actually prefers to have an open and honest discussion with people. She is willing to accept whatever the outcome may be, but she cannot accept this kind of perfunctory disregard.
"Miss Luo is amazing! She can even do latte art!"
Jiang Yiqing was born in the Year of the Rabbit, so Luo Shuyu made her a latte with a rabbit latte art design. Luo Shuyu was born in the Year of the Dragon and was one year older than Jiang Yiqing.
"It's just a trivial skill."
Luo Shuyu placed the coffee cup on the coaster and then on the tray. Aunt Qin picked up her cup, and Luo Shuyu went to the living room and gave the other cup to Lan Changge.
Lan Changge took a sip and praised, "It still tastes the same."
"Shuyu, with your skills, you could open a shop," she always said, and this time was no exception.
"That's what you call a filter," Luo Shuyu said with a smile, then took her coffee upstairs.
The knocking sounded, and Jiang Yiqing immediately tensed up, wondering who it could be, secretly hoping to see Luo Shuyu's face.
When I was in the hospital, I unconsciously relied on her like an older sister, but now I'm just simply curious about her.
Seeing the latte with her zodiac animal printed on it, Jiang Yiqing naturally thought of the little rabbit that Luo Shuyu had given her. Now the little rabbit stood in the middle of a pile of dolls on her bedside table. The warm air from the heater and the aroma of coffee made everything feel so cozy.
"Yi Qing, please drink."
"Thank you." Jiang Yiqing knew this was something called coffee, but she had never had it before. She picked up the cup, took a small sip, and the unique taste immediately filled her mouth. The milky yet bitter liquid slowly flowed into her stomach, and she instantly felt refreshed.
"It tastes really good."
"Yiqing, don't you dislike coffee? Are you serious, or just saying that to please me?" Luo Shuyu asked teasingly.
“It really is delicious,” Jiang Yiqing explained, blushing. “I genuinely think so.”
"Don't push yourself."
"I wasn't forced." To prove that she really thought it tasted good, Jiang Yiqing drank more than half a cup in one go, and then coughed up smoothly.
Coffee spilled on her chest. Luo Shuyu quickly snatched the cup away, but it was too late. Jiang Yiqing stared in astonishment. Luo Shuyu then opened the wardrobe and found Jiang Yiqing a change of clothes.
"Call me when you've changed your clothes."
Luo Shuyu got up and went outside to wait. Jiang Yiqing was stunned and didn't know how to react. Even though Luo Shuyu was outside, she blushed terribly. She changed her clothes slowly and said softly, "Okay."
Luo Shuyu took her clothes to the laundry room on the second floor, washed them, and then came back, sat opposite Jiang Yiqing, and said, "Yiqing, I've been thinking about it, and there's something I still want to talk to you about."
Jiang Yiqing looked at her blankly, with a kind of fear of the unknown. Luo Shuyu thought to herself, "Am I such a scary person?"
"Yi Qing, do you not want to talk?" Luo Shuyu's tone was somewhat harsh.
"No...no..." Jiang Yiqing denied it, but the more she explained, the worse it got.
For some reason, Luo Shuyu started speaking recklessly. The questions that had been lingering in her mind began to resurface.
“Yi Qing, if I remember correctly, you are a nationally registered ski athlete. Why would someone like you suddenly fall? Your friends didn’t expect you to have an accident. Although Aunt Jiang thinks this has something to do with your destiny, I don’t think so. I think it was just a simple accident caused by personal error.”
"..." Jiang Yiqing was speechless at her question. Yes, as soon as she went skiing again, she would immediately expose the fact that she was a beginner. In fact, she didn't know most things about this world. How could she not give herself away? How could she explain that she and the previous Jiang Yiqing had switched identities?
"Nothing to say?" Luo Shuyu asked, looking at her with her bright eyes.
Because of her work, Luo Shuyu often needs to speak to her clients in a sharp tone, or even talk to ghosts, which makes her seem less human. She is well aware that her words can be embarrassing.
“…You’re right.” Jiang Yiqing lowered her head guiltily. Perhaps thinking that she could replace Jiang Yiqing and live a good life here was just her delusion.
"You may think your performance is flawless, but to me it's full of flaws. Besides, after a little calculation, I discovered that something incredible has happened to you that others have no idea about, but you know very well who I am, don't you?"
Jiang Yiqing was hurt by her aggressive words. Acting, flaws—why say such things about her? ...
But since things had come to this point, she wasn't going to play the innocent fool anymore. Jiang Yiqing was the kind of person who would stand up for herself even if a thousand people said she was wrong. She looked at Luo Shuyu, her eyes red-rimmed, and said, "Sister Luo, what do you want to get out of telling me all this?"
"Get what? Do you have anything that I want?" Luo Shuyu chuckled.
"From your aggressive words, I feel that you have some kind of purpose. Since you are so dull-witted, you might as well just say it."
Luo Shuyu could have easily deduced all of Jiang Yiqing's secrets, but she didn't. Her powerful sixth sense led her to guess something. Besides, she had never heard of Jiang Yiqing being able to see ghosts before. However, Luo Shuyu seemed to have messed things up. She couldn't explain why she lost her usual composure and acted out of control.
Perhaps Jiang Yiqing will dislike her because of this and end the engagement. Perhaps that's the right thing to do. No one can be happy with someone as sensitive and awkward as her.
"Nothing's wrong, Yiqing, you're overthinking it." Luo Shuyu's gentle smile returned, as if the domineering person from just now wasn't her at all.
Jiang Yiqing was confused again; she didn't know what Luo Shuyu was planning to do.
"Your leg injury hasn't healed yet, so you need to rest and recuperate. Also, don't overthink things. Don't take what I just said to heart."
"..." Jiang Yiqing saw on the news that people described Luo Shuyu as a "reclusive genius." Now she understood why. Her personality was indeed... not very likable, just like she used to be.
Jiang Yiqing looked at the freesias on the table, and for some reason, she still wanted to believe Luo Shuyu. She said, "Sister Luo, where are these flowers from? Could you please order more from there?"
Luo Shuyu's heart skipped a beat, and without thinking, she agreed, saying, "Okay."
A large number of flowers arrived at Jiang Yiqing's home. Jiang Yiqing was finally able to obtain some fragments as she wished. After entering the system shop, she found that it had everything. Even if she could not become the current Jiang Yiqing, she would not have any obstacles to survival.
However, she still really wanted to continue being Jiang Yiqing, because she could feel Aunt Jiang's love for her daughter. If she knew that her daughter had gone to a place she could never return to, she would be heartbroken. And Jiang Yiqing's friends would surely feel regret too.
Although she wasn't the real Jiang Yiqing, she was willing to try her best to integrate into her life. Luo Shuyu saw through this idea, but afterwards, she didn't expose her in front of everyone.
Luo Shuyu sat on the sofa, watching Jiang Yiqing tend to the flowers and plants, when Lan Changge replied to her message.
"Shuyu, you have a really good memory. This Sister Wang was indeed one of our clients more than ten years ago. How can you still remember her?"
Luo Shuyu never advertises her studio online. Her advertising method is still very primitive: she places a line in the corner of various news articles and magazines that reads, "Feng Shui, fortune telling, metaphysics, ghost catching, please contact Master Luo, contact number 1xx xxxx xxxx." Therefore, apart from clients introduced by word of mouth, when one can get a client depends entirely on luck and fate.
More than ten years ago, Luo Shuyu had not yet started advertising. Wang Sao was introduced to her by another client. The people who could come into contact with her circle were all rich and powerful. But now, Wang Sao is a female worker employed by a rich man.
