"It's none of your business."
Hearing the seemingly well-intentioned reminder, Hu Er, covered in wounds, instinctively retorted with a defiant tone.
"hehe!"
Feng Bingwen smiled and naturally wouldn't hold it against him. He would come again tomorrow, and they could deal with him then.
As he stepped out of the Hu family's gate, he stopped abruptly, for in his eyes, two enormous figures stood outside the Hu mansion, shrouded in gray mist, exuding an imposing and awe-inspiring presence.
Unlike before, Feng Bingwen's gaze could now penetrate the gray mist and see the faces of the two enormous figures. They were indeed two giants, each several feet tall, dressed in gauze hats and wide robes, exuding a majestic aura.
"Feng Bingwen greets you both; this is our second meeting."
Feng Bingwen politely bowed to the two men, but they silently looked down at him, not saying a word, as if they were thinking about something.
"If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave now and won't bother you two any longer."
After waiting for a moment without receiving a response or any further words, Feng Bingwen, seeing that the two were not moving, straightened his back, strode forward, and calmly passed between them.
As he was about to leave the alley, he turned around and saw that there was nothing behind him; the two ghostly figures had vanished.
"This should mean I'm alright, right?"
Feng Bingwen pondered for a moment and figured that he had probably passed the test. The two ghosts and gods probably held the same status in the underworld as Officer Xing from yesterday.
With both the Yin and Yang realms acknowledging his existence, Feng Bingwen felt a surge of joy. He quickened his pace and soon returned to the school. Carrying the food box he had cleaned, he headed towards Ruyufang, a pastry shop.
"My little benefactor!"
Even from a distance, Wen Huashang could be seen walking towards Feng Bingwen. She came out to greet him, dressed in simple clothes, but her beauty was undeniable. Her smiling face was as beautiful as a flower, causing passersby nearby to lose their composure.
"Don't call me that, just call me by my name."
Being addressed in such a way by a beautiful woman in broad daylight, even though Feng Bingwen was already quite old at heart, still made him feel shy.
"Then I shall take the liberty of calling you Bingwen."
Wen Huashang casually took the vermilion lacquered food box handed over by Feng Bingwen, and secretly examined it. Sure enough, there was no damage on it. She breathed a sigh of relief and responded in this way.
"Ah, I've eaten all the food you made, sister, but I haven't asked your name yet."
Feng Bingwen was somewhat unsatisfied with the pastries he ate at noon, because there were many varieties, which meant that there was only a small amount of each, just enough for him to try a little bit of each.
"My surname is Wen. If you'd like, please call me that..."
"Sister Wen!"
Before Feng Bingwen could finish speaking, he called out. The beautiful woman with exquisite features was taken aback, then smiled and stopped herself from saying what she was about to say.
She had originally intended for the child to call her Aunt Wen, since she was already married. But the child spoke first, placing her on the same level. Since that was the case, she wouldn't change it, as "older sister" sounded younger.
Here you go!
The child reached out, and the proprietress of Ruyufang instinctively took it. But the heavy weight and shape quickly made her feel something was wrong. She looked down and saw that they were two polished silver beads, and her expression changed immediately.
"What are you doing? The pastries I gave you at noon were free, I..."
"This is the money Hu Er owes you. I just went to collect it for you. You deserve it."
Feng Bingwen waved his hand, his childlike face surprisingly displaying a touch of magnanimity and nonchalance.
"As for the pastries you gave me at noon, I have no intention of giving you any money."
"The money Hu Er owes?"
Wen Huashang froze, a look of worry on her face.
"Didn't I tell you I didn't want this money? Why are you still going to him? Let me see if you're hurt."
As she spoke, the young woman reached out and groped Feng Bingwen's body, which immediately made him blush and pull away, taking a few steps back.
"No, how could that guy possibly hurt me?"
How did you get this money?
Wen Huashang's face showed worry. Although the child had a chivalrous heart, being a chivalrous person did not mean that he could be unrestrained and act recklessly. If he went astray because of her, she could not bear the consequences.
"Don't worry, sister. That scoundrel gave it to me willingly. I would never stoop to stealing."
Feng Bingwen noticed the woman's worry.
Would Hu Er give money willingly?
Wen Huashang looked somewhat strange; that scoundrel wasn't just eating and drinking for free at her place.
As far as she knew, this scoundrel had defaulted on his debts at many shops in the city, and if it weren't for his father's powerful connections, he would have been crippled long ago.
"Of course, I reasoned with him, and he very reasonably gave me the money."
Feng Bingwen said in a serious tone.
"If that's the case, then that's perfect. However, Bingwen, Hu Er's father is no ordinary person. If you have nothing to do, you should avoid provoking him."
"What does his father do?"
Feng Bingwen was intrigued; if it was a wicked creature, then he could add another merit to his list of good deeds.
"His father is a prominent figure in the county, the steward of the Zhou family!"
"Oh, so you're a butler!"
Feng Bingwen was unimpressed; he thought it was some kind of local bully.
"Don't underestimate his father..."
"Is Hu Er's father the same as him?"
Feng Bingwen had no interest in hearing how powerful his rogue father was; he went straight to the heart of the matter.
"Of course not. If it weren't for the fact that they look somewhat alike, you wouldn't believe they are father and son. When Hu Er gets into trouble, it's always his father who steps in to pay for it."
"I see."
Feng Bingwen nodded, then lost interest. So he was a reasonable person, so he couldn't possibly target him.
"If there's nothing else, I'll head home now."
"Wait a minute, why would Hu Er give me two silver coins?"
Wen Huashang suddenly remembered this.
"The principal plus interest, rounded up, is two silver coins."
Feng Bingwen said casually.
"That's how much interest can accumulate in a gambling den."
"Don't worry, sister, just accept it. That guy won't dare to cause you any more trouble."
A child of about seven or eight years old patted his chest and made a promise to a graceful woman, silently muttering to himself what he didn't say aloud.
"He doesn't have time."
"Here, this silver coin is for you."
Wen Huashang was amused by the words of the boy and handed one of the silver beads to Feng Bingwen.
"This is for you, Sister Wen, I don't need it."
"You deserve it."
The beautiful woman said this, and tried to force the money into the child's hand.
"Oh dear, Sister Wen, if you really feel bad about it, you can send me some more snacks for a few more days. I haven't had enough yet."
