Chapter 49 Testing

"Wait a moment!"

Leaving the crowd and walking out of the street where there were few pedestrians, Feng Bingwen heard a familiar voice behind him. He turned around without surprise and looked at the two constables who had followed him there.

"Is there anything else?"

"Nothing much, I just wanted to shake your hand!"

Officer Xing, who followed, had a kind smile on his face. He squatted down, his line of sight level with Feng Bingwen's, and extended his hand in a seemingly friendly manner.

"..."

Feng Bingwen looked down at the calloused hand extended in front of him, stared at it for a moment, and then took out his own rather small hand in comparison and grasped it.

The young constable following behind Constable Xing looked somewhat bewildered at the two people shaking hands in the street, until he heard a strange, crisp sound and saw his superior speak with a stern face.

"That's fine."

"Is there anything else?"

Feng Bingwen withdrew his hand expressionlessly.

"If there's nothing else, I'll head back now."

"Everything's alright now, but I still want to remind you, this is a big operation!"

Officer Xing's words were quite profound. As he spoke, he withdrew his hand, clenched it into a fist, and put it behind his back.

"I know."

Feng Bingwen nodded, a childlike smile spreading across his youthful face.

"I just want to be an honest and law-abiding person!"

"Honest and law-abiding?"

Officer Xing muttered something to himself, and a smile appeared on his tense face.

"That would be best, of course. I, the head constable, still don't want any murders to happen in this county. That would have a bad influence, wouldn't you say?"

"I think so too, but I think those thugs loitering on the streets are too much of a nuisance and disruptive. It shouldn't be illegal for me to teach them a lesson!"

"As long as no murder occurs, I, the head constable, will not get involved in such matters."

"I understand now."

After saying this, Feng Bingwen waved to the constable and then turned and left.

"Uncle Xing, what are you doing?"

At this point, the young constable following behind Constable Xing could no longer contain himself. No matter how he looked at it, what had just happened was just too strange.

This uncle, who had spent many years in the government and had weathered countless storms, treated the child as if he were an equal, or even some more terrifying being.

"Didn't I tell you before I brought you out? Listen carefully and watch carefully, but don't ask too many questions. What you need to know, you will naturally know."

The old constable didn't want to say much, but after thinking for a moment, he still gave one more instruction.

“That kid isn’t as simple as he seems. If you ever encounter anything related to him in the future, come directly to me. Don’t interfere.”

"yes."

The young man felt as if he were being scratched by a cat, extremely uncomfortable, but given the elder's attitude, he dared not ask any more questions and could only keep his doubts to himself.

At this moment, the young constable's gaze sharpened as he noticed a bluish-black color. That unusual color was on his uncle's palm, and it just so happened to be the same palm that had shaken hands with the child.

With a suspicion in mind, the young constable kept his eyes fixed on his uncle's palm. Even though the old constable tried to hide it, the young man behind him had a chance to see clearly what the bluish-black color on his palm was.

It was clearly a small handprint with extremely clear edges.

The young constable was shocked. His uncle had trained his body since childhood, cultivating both internal and external strength. Although he was only a constable in this county, he would be a well-known expert in the martial arts world, well, a third-rate one.

"As expected, we were noticed."

Meanwhile, Feng Bingwen, who had left the county town, was also feeling quite troubled. Ever since the City God had seen through part of his secrets that night, he had been mentally prepared for this.

He could understand the government's thinking, after all, he was a thug who led a large number of evil spirits to slaughter an entire village in one night. Although the village deserved to die, it also demonstrated his dangerousness.

"That constable was probably watching me the whole time, so as soon as I made a move, that guy chased after me!"

Feng Bingwen pondered to himself that the yamen's speed in responding to the police was most likely related to him.

"However, judging from this situation, the government's attitude towards me seems rather ambiguous. They probably haven't figured out who I really am yet!"

Although what I did was somewhat brutal, it was, in a way, promoting the light of righteousness!

Although this encounter with the government office left Feng Bingwen with a somewhat heavy feeling, he wasn't overly worried. People with innate wisdom like him weren't unique in this realm, just rare, but he wasn't an extraterrestrial demon and wouldn't be targeted for extermination.

After figuring out the key point, Feng Bingwen felt much more at ease. Based on what he had done over the years and what he would do in the future, it was impossible for him to have any conflict with the government. In fact, the government might even need his help.

"Well, I need to explain today's events to the old man."

While he was pondering, Feng Bingwen had already returned home. After thinking for a moment, he went into the room where the old man was recuperating. He had brought up the old man's name today, just to let him know.

"Grandpa, I've gotten into trouble!"

Upon entering the room, Feng Bingwen appeared flustered, which made the old man, who hadn't scolded him that morning but was just about to reprimand him, tense up as well, though he didn't show it on his face.

"What trouble have you gotten yourself into?"

"I hit someone!"

Why did you hit someone?

The old man frowned.

"After school, I happened to see..."

Feng Bingwen described in detail the rogue behavior of the thug.

"I couldn't hold back, so I picked up a stool and hit him!"

"You heard them call that thug Hu Er? I vaguely remember him. You hit him, so there's nothing to worry about."

"ah?"

Feng Bingwen was somewhat confused.

“I hit him more than ten years ago, but I hit him with a bamboo stick.”

The old man remained calm. If it were his grandson who had hit someone without reason, then it would be difficult to handle. But since the grandson was in the right and had hit a student he had taught before, then there was no problem.

"Was that scoundrel one of your former students?"

Feng Bingwen's eyes widened, his face practically screaming, "How did you raise such a scoundrel?"

“What student? This good-for-nothing has only been studying with me for less than a year. He has skipped school and missed classes multiple times. He has never changed his ways, so I had his father take him home. He is simply not cut out for studying.”

Seeing his grandson like this, the old man immediately became angry and began to defend himself, saying that it was shameful to have taught such a student. He said that if his grandson hadn't hit the other person, he wouldn't even want to recall such a thing.
