Chapter 21 The Yin Well

"Boss Qi, what should we do with this kid? Are we just going to let him go like this?"

Seeing the old man return to his room, the young man called Stone grumbled somewhat resentfully.

"Didn't you see that I just promised my mother? During her fast, not a single drop of blood can be shed in the entire village!"

Boss Qi glanced at the stone, and the young man immediately lowered his head and dared not speak again, like a mouse seeing a cat.

"But it's just that there's no bloodshed."

The middle-aged man stared at Feng Bingwen with a smile on his face, but the smile did not reassure anyone.

“There are plenty of ways to avoid bloodshed, Stone. Hang this kid over the well.”

"The Yin Well?"

Upon hearing the order, the young man instinctively shuddered, and a look of fear involuntarily appeared on his face.

"this……"

"What are you so afraid of, you spineless coward? It's still daytime."

"Yes, but it's a bit difficult for me to handle alone. Boss Qi, could you call a few more people to come with me?"

"Useless, boss. I'll take a few men and go with him."

"Um!"

Boss Qi nodded, thought for a moment, and then gave another instruction.

"If he's still breathing before sunset, put him down; I need him!"

"Yes, but there are still four or five hours until sunset. I'm afraid this kid won't be able to hold on for that long."

"That means he's just unlucky."

As he spoke, Feng Bingwen realized something was wrong, but at this point, he had no room to struggle. He was held down by several young men and dragged to a dry well located above the mountain village, where he was tied up and hung from the well opening.

As soon as he entered the well, Feng Bingwen sensed something was wrong with it. Looking down, he could hear the sound of water rippling, but he couldn't see the bottom. All he could see was darkness, and it was extremely cold.

An ordinary well might only make people feel cool, and in the middle of summer, it might even make people feel comfortable.

But what Feng Bingwen felt from this well was a real chill, like suddenly stepping into the dead of winter while wearing only a summer shirt; the cold was biting and seemed to want to freeze him stiff.

Before long, Feng Bingwen felt his feet were icy cold, and the cold sensation spread from his legs to his body.

The daytime sunlight could still fall on his head, only giving him a negligible warmth, but even so, he felt his body getting colder and colder, his vision becoming increasingly blurry, and his eyes gradually closing.

boom!

As I lay dying, a thunderclap seemed to resound in my mind, accompanied by a deafening roar that seemed to split the heavens and earth. A torrent of chaotic memories poured out like a floodgate being opened.

A steel dragon weaving through towering mountains, a steel jungle gleaming brightly in the night, an endless stream of cars… a square screen displaying clear text images… a scrolling mouse… rippling lake water… flashing lightning…

Feng Bingwen, whose last breath was about to escape, suddenly opened his eyes. Almost simultaneously, a scorching heat burst forth from his chest and abdomen, spreading in waves throughout his body, sweeping across his limbs and bones.

The chill that had seeped into the body was forced to wander haphazardly within the body by the sudden burst of scorching heat, playing a game of cat and mouse.

The next moment, his brow throbbed, as if the cold energy flowing through his body had found its home, gathering together and trying to rush towards his brow.

But when this chill traveled along the Du meridian and rushed straight to the Baihui acupoint on the top of the head, the scorching heat also relentlessly pursued it, like an angry dragon, fiercely blasting it. Instantly, the chill collapsed and scattered in all directions.

The next moment, Feng Bingwen felt a cool sensation in his eyes. He didn't feel cold at all; in fact, he felt a refreshing coolness that was quite comfortable.

"Um?"

Feng Bingwen scanned his surroundings, and his gaze actually pierced through the darkness, seeing the gently rippling well water, and underwater, something drifting like silk threads.

"..."

The child remained expressionless and silent for a long while.

"That's outrageous!"

The merging of memories from two lifetimes didn't frighten Feng Bingwen; he was mentally prepared, after all, he had specifically prayed to the Heavenly Book. However, actually seeing it and having all those past life memories restored was another matter entirely.

However, perhaps because it was daytime, the floating object underwater did not make any extra movements, and instead disappeared after drifting in the water for a while.

After observing his feet closely for a while, Feng Bingwen discovered other anomalies.

He could no longer feel the cold, or to be more precise, the abnormally chilling coldness, after entering his body, followed a predetermined path and flowed into his eyes like rivers flowing into the sea.

This made the cool sensation in his eyes increasingly intense, and Feng Bingwen knew that his eyes had undergone an extraordinary change.

Judging from his current situation, this well doesn't seem like a place of punishment or even a place that would kill him; rather, it has become a blessed place.

However, Feng Bingwen knew that the reason he was able to turn this dangerous place into an opportunity was purely because he had made a wish to the Heavenly Book. Otherwise, if it were someone else, they would probably only end up as a frozen corpse. How could they have fully awakened their innate wisdom and gained a pair of eyes that could see through the yin and yang?

The sun is setting in the west, and dusk is approaching.

Beside the dry well behind Qijiagang, several men were chatting idly to bolster their courage.

"Want to bet me? I bet that kid's frozen to death by now!"

"Get lost, who wants to gamble with you? Go away."

"Wait, something's not right, this kid is still breathing!"

"Damn it, it's been a whole day, and this guy is still alive. He's incredibly resilient!"

"Quickly pull him up; we've already given instructions from Boss Qi."

"Damn, this kid's lucky!"

As they spoke, Feng Bingwen, whose clothes and hair were covered in a layer of white frost, was pulled up.

"What do we do now?"

"Take him back first and ask Boss Qi!"

"Forget it, the sun is about to set, and at this time, Boss Qi won't be around."

"Where should we place this kid?"

"Let's throw him into the sheepfold; the lambs will warm him up!"

"I hope this kid doesn't get another chance to escape?"

"He's frozen solid like this. If he can still run, I'll write my name backwards."

As instructed, the men who came to rescue Feng Bingwen discussed the matter briefly and then took him to a stinking enclosure. The environment there was so bad that even they could hardly stand it. Without saying a word, they threw Feng Bingwen in and left without looking back.

After the group of people left, several lambs hiding in the sheepfold ran over. When they saw Feng Bingwen covered in frost, they were surprised. One of the lambs, after seeing Feng Bingwen's face clearly, went up to him and lay down on him, trying to warm him up.

"I'm fine!"

Just then, Feng Bingwen opened his eyes. His dark, black eyes shone with a cold, captivating light in the twilight where day and night alternated.

Ignoring the filth on the ground, he stood up, looked at the lambs with their unusually expressive faces, and understood.

But this was not the time to concern himself with the lambs. He strode into the shed that sheltered the lambs from the wind and rain, and as expected, saw a yellow cloth hanging on the wall. A smile appeared on his face.

"As expected of me, I made the right bet."
