Chapter 116 Mermaid Shui Zhenzhen

Ye Xin said so, but the two of them didn't reach the top of the mountain in the end. She walked a little above the halfway point and saw the small wooden house from last night.

Ye Xin stopped and pointed at a small wooden house not far away and asked Hai Lan, "Was this built by your village?"

Hailan glanced at the cabin and said uncertainly, "It doesn't seem like it! The cabins we built in our village don't look like this."

When Ye Xin heard about the cabins, she couldn't help but feel curious, "Are the cabins built by the village also on this mountain?"

"It seems to be near the middle of the mountain. My father said there are two cabins next to each other."

Hailan looked around and soon saw two cabins on the other side of the mountainside. "Sister Ye, look, where are the cabins?"

Ye Xin looked up and saw two small wooden houses hidden on the other side of the mountainside under the shade of the trees.

She saw the red wooden roof and said teasingly, "It really is a log cabin from your village. It's such a conspicuous feature that it can be spotted at a glance."

Hailan puffed out her chest, a little proud. "Of course. Our village doesn't have anything special to show for itself, except that the houses are well-built."

Just when Ye Xin wanted to say something, her expression suddenly became serious and she looked sharply towards the direction of the mountain top behind her.

"come out."

Hailan bit her lip and quickly ran behind Ye Xin, "Sister Ye, what's wrong? Did you really encounter a monster?"

Ye Xin took a step forward, blocking Hai Lan's sight. "Why don't you come out? Do you want me to say it a second time?"

Before they finished speaking, a figure walked out from behind the big tree in front of them.

When Ye Xin saw it was a girl, she immediately subsided the fierce look in her eyes, "Who are you? Why are you hiding behind the tree?"

The girl looked timid, perhaps about fifteen or sixteen. She wore no makeup, and her hair was braided with a few daisies. Even in her coarse linen shirt, she could not hide her graceful figure.

The woman, holding a bunch of wild flowers, nervously walked up to Ye Xin and said, "I...I didn't mean to listen to you. I just came down from the mountain, and that cabin is my home."

Ye Xin and Hai Lan were stunned and looked at the cabin the woman pointed at.

"How is that possible? I live at the foot of the mountain. How come I have never seen you before?" Hai Lan didn't believe it and stared at the woman with strange eyes.

Ye Xin scanned the girl with his mental power and raised his eyebrows in slight surprise.

A mermaid. A seriously injured one at that.

But don't mermaids usually live in the sea? Why would they come up the mountain? Or are they the monsters rumored in the village?

The woman was frightened by Ye Xin's creepy gaze. She tightened her grip around the flower and said, "My name is Shui Zhenzhen. I've lived here for half a year. I know there's a village down there, but I've never been there."

Shui Zhenzhen's voice was so soft that Hai Lan unconsciously lowered her voice. "So that's how it is! No wonder I haven't seen you before."

Shui Zhenzhen saw that the two had dispelled their doubts and immediately let go of her nervousness. She pointed at the sunlight above and advised them, "It's almost noon. There are few trees on the top of the mountain. The sunlight will be very uncomfortable."

As she spoke, she changed the subject and warmly invited the two of them to have a simple meal at the cabin.

Hai Lan didn't say anything and looked at Ye Xin.

Ye Xin was also hungry, so she accepted Shui Zhenzhen's invitation, "Sorry to bother you."

"Don't bother me, don't bother me. I'm so happy to meet you!"

Shui Zhenzhen smiled, quickly ran to the tree, and pulled out a basket full of mushrooms from behind. "I picked these early this morning. They make delicious mushroom soup."

Hailan volunteered to take the flowers from Shui Zhenzhen's arms, and the two walked back to the cabin together.

When they reached the door, Hai Lan found that Ye Xin had not followed them yet.

She looked back and saw someone lying in a pile of weeds, doing something unknown. "Sister Ye, come here quickly!"

Ye Xin climbed up from the weeds, scratched the chicken feathers on her head, and walked over with the pheasant in her hand. "Yeah, here it comes."

Hailan laughed when she saw her expression, "Sister Ye, you've robbed people's nests!"

Ye Xin held up the pheasant in her hand and shook her head innocently, "No, no, I even left it a dead egg."

"puff!"

At this moment, even Shui Zhenzhen couldn't help laughing and stood at the door.

Ye Xin stared at the pheasant, carried the chicken to the eaves, and skillfully cut the pheasant's neck to let the blood.

Shui Zhenzhen ran into the kitchen, brought a basin of hot water, and placed it in front of Ye Xin, watching her plucking the feathers curiously. "Sister Ye, this is the first time I've seen a pheasant near our house! In the past, Brother Lu had to run a long way to catch a pheasant."

Ye Xin paused plucking the hair, then straightened up and looked at Shui Zhenzhen, whose body was covered in pink bubbles. "Brother Lu?"

Shui Zhenzhen's jade-like cheeks flushed red. She lowered her head and smiled shyly, "He's a brother I know. We live together in the mountains."

Suddenly, she raised her head and explained, "There are two rooms in the cabin, and we each have one."

As she spoke, her voice trailed off again. It seemed like humans were quite bothered by girls sharing a room with men from other places. She wondered if Sister Ye would dislike her.

Ye Xin was indeed a little surprised after hearing this. She wondered why the mermaid stayed at home and ran up the mountain instead. It turned out that there was such a thing inside!

"I don't see he's here. Did he go out?"

"He went out hunting early this morning and should be back soon." Shui Zhenzhen saw that Ye Xin's expression hadn't changed. She took the chicken from Ye Xin's hand and smiled suddenly, "Then I'll get busy first. Sister Ye, you take a rest."
