Ye Xin gently comforted the little girl for a long time before finally coaxing her into silence, "He's just a man! There are so many men in the world, why do you have to cling to this crooked tree?"
She pulled Shui Zhenzhen out of her arms and looked around. "By the way, what about the back? You're not hurt, are you?"
Shui Zhenzhen covered her face with her hands and muffled her voice, "After he took the things, he wanted to kill me, but suddenly there was a roar of an animal from the mountain, so he had no choice but to pack up his things and run away. But not long after he left, the cabin caught fire. Luckily, I didn't get caught, otherwise I would have been buried in the sea of fire."
Ye Xin sneered. Lu Ao was still the same. Even after becoming a warrior, he still hadn't changed his bad habits. "Next time you meet him, don't show mercy. Let him know that there are some things he can't touch." Her eyes gradually turned cold, and murderous intent appeared on her body.
Shui Zhenzhen was frightened by Ye Xin's appearance. With red eyes, she pulled Ye Xin's hand and said, "Sister Ye, calm down. My water droplets are connected to me. I can sense them as long as they appear in the sea. I will personally avenge this."
Ye Xin still had a cold expression on her face. "There's one thing I haven't told you. I knew Lu Ao before. Back then, he was just a little beggar. He was caught stealing and was almost beaten to death."
"My brother later rescued him, but he became even more demanding and wanted me to take him back. When I refused, he tried to kill us."
Shui Zhenzhen opened her mouth wide after hearing this. She hadn't expected Sister Ye and Lu Ao to have such a grudge. "So that's how it is. Did Lu Ao recognize you?"
"No, if he recognized me, he would have come for revenge that very day. He wouldn't have endured it until now." Ye Xin's tone was firm. Although she had only briefly interacted with Lu Ao, she knew that he was a vindictive man. If he recognized her at first sight, there was no way he wouldn't come for revenge. After all, she was one of the few people who had personally witnessed Lu Ao's most tragic experience.
Anyone who suddenly gained power would not let go of those who had bullied him in the past. Although Ye Xin hadn't done anything wrong, Lu Ao's way of thinking would probably make him put all the blame on her.
Shui Zhenzhen was completely dazed. Sister Ye's news was too shocking. She was a mermaid, yet she was being manipulated by a human warrior. If her mother knew, she would never let her out again.
Her sudden downturn caught Ye Xin's eye. "Zhenzhen, don't be sad. It's normal for little girls to fall in love for the first time. Besides, he saved you before. It's not your fault that you can't get over it for a while."
She found a piece of peculiarly shaped malt candy from her storage bag, peeled off the white wrapper, and stuffed the candy into Shui Zhenzhen's mouth.
The sweet taste spread in her mouth. Shui Zhenzhen licked her lips and squinted her eyes in satisfaction.
Seeing the little girl's mood improve slightly, Ye Xin smiled. Sure enough, she was still a little kid, and a piece of candy could easily appease her.
She dug out a large bag of various snacks from the space and stuffed them all at Shui Zhenzhen. "When you're in a bad mood, you should eat something sweet. These are all from the spirit world. Take them and eat as much as you want."
Shui Zhenzhen stood there, a bit bewildered, holding a package bigger than her head. "Sister Ye, this is too much! You always bring me so many things. I don't know how to repay you."
Ye Xin glanced at her and shrugged indifferently, "This isn't a good thing, just take it and eat it!"
Shui Zhenzhen's eyes were hot and she seemed about to cry again.
Ye Xin groaned and tapped her head, "Don't cry anymore. If you cry again, I won't comfort you."
Shui Zhenzhen held back her tears, raised her head and forced back the tears that were about to fall.
"I understand. I won't cry anymore. You're right. Men are nothing. We mermaids are full of handsome men. Why should I hang myself on that tree?"
She freed one hand and waved her fist demonstratively. "He'd better pray he doesn't show up in front of me so soon, or I'll let him know what happens if he messes with me."
"That's right! You are a mermaid! That's how you should fight back." Ye Xin happily watched the little girl cheer up and encouraged her again.
After Shui Zhenzhen regained her composure, she wanted to take Ye Xin back to their tribe. Surprisingly, her proposal was rejected by Ye Xin.
Seeing Ye Xin was unmoved, the little girl got upset. She pulled Ye Xin's wrist, wagged her tail, and acted coquettishly, "Sister Ye, come on, come on! Let's go to my tribe and play. I have so many fun things there. I have Jiao Ning Sha, Sen Luo Hua, and Bai Ji Cao everywhere. These are the rarest things out there."
Hearing the name Senluohua, Ye Xin paused for a moment. She raised her eyelids and repeated the little girl's words, "Senluohua, where do you get this?"
Shui Zhenzhen saw that people were interested and nodded excitedly, "Yes, yes, I have several Senluo flowers at home. My sister gave them to me a while ago."
She chattered on and on, earnestly explaining the origins of these flowers, and even brought up her sister's magical experiences in the past.
Ye Xin listened casually, but when she heard a familiar name, her expression instantly became serious.
She interrupted Shui Zhenzhen and asked in a stern tone, "Zhenzhen, wait a moment, you just said that this flower was brought back to you by your sister a few years ago, right?"
"Yes... yes." Ye Xin's expression suddenly darkened, leaving Shui Zhenzhen confused. "Sister Ye, did you notice something wrong?"
Ye Xin clenched her palms and said nothing. Her silence made Shui Zhenzhen suddenly nervous. She thought about what she had just said and didn't feel anything was wrong.
She was about to speak when Ye Xin interrupted her again, "You said your sister once saw a bead. Do you know where it went?"
So this is what Sister Ye wanted to do! Shui Zhenzhen felt relieved and thought carefully about what her sister had told her.
Seeing the little girl scratching her head in thought, Ye Xin sat down on a rock silently.
After a few breaths, Shui Zhenzhen finally put down her hand that was grabbing her hair. The way she held her head high and chest puffed out made Ye Xin straighten her back quickly. "Do you remember? Where did your sister see it?"
Shui Zhenzhen tilted her neck and replied confidently, "No, I don't remember."
Ye Xin choked and almost fell off the rock because he didn't sit firmly.
"I didn't remember it, but my sister knows! She happens to be at home. Why don't you go and ask her yourself, Sister Ye?" Shui Zhenzhen smiled. She finally found a way to get Sister Ye to go to her house.
Ye Xin: “….”
It seems she has to go to your mermaid territory.
