The faces of the group were quite solemn. Wu Xie glanced through his binoculars and muttered a curse under his breath.
Hua the monk also saw the cavalry below, his expression changed, and he asked Chen Pi Asi in a low voice what to do.
Chen Pi Asi glanced at them, smiled contemptuously, and said, "Good thing we came. It means we're on the right track. Let's keep going and ignore them."
The fat man was envious of the advanced equipment of Aning's team, mainly those dozens of guns. He asked Chen Pi Asi why they hadn't gotten some firearms beforehand, and what use were washbasins and sanitary napkins? They should have gotten more food instead.
Chen Pi Asi scoffed, saying that in their line of work, it's not about having a lot of people.
The fat man asked what he relied on.
Chen Pi Asi was too lazy to answer, only saying that once the snow line was crossed, just follow him.
When the group was talking, they didn't pay attention to their guide, Shunzi, but they still used their dialect. Shunzi is of Korean ethnicity and doesn't speak Mandarin very well, so they couldn't understand him very well.
However, having been a guide for many years, he knew that it was best to listen to what travelers said and never interrupt or ask questions.
If you're too active, someone might get murderous and try to silence you when you get there.
Cao Ya thought Shunzi was overthinking it; they were indeed not tourists, but tomb raiders, and they weren't doing anything honorable.
If it were just Chen Pi Asi and his group, they might actually have silenced Shunzi.
But since he came with Fatty, Wu Xie, Zhang Qiling, and Pan Zi, and they weren't enemies, he didn't agree to take action against unrelated people.
There's no need to worry about Shunzi's safety.
After observing Aning's group for a while from the mountain, the group continued their ascent.
Wu Xie sat on his horse, wearing four or five layers of clothing, including a leather overcoat. He still felt cold when the wind blew, as did Fatty, Panzi, and the others, especially that old guy Chen Pi Asi.
He doesn't look old; he's not a man in his nineties. After all, he's getting on in years. In such a harsh environment, he might be fine for a short time, but after a while, he'll inevitably show signs of fatigue.
Of course, Wu Xie didn't mean to mock him; he wasn't much better off himself.
Even though Shunzi was familiar with the route and was a retired soldier who maintained a strong physique through regular exercise, he still showed signs of fatigue and exhaustion in this place unsuitable for human habitation.
The man with the sullen expression was somewhat better, but his heavy breathing still indicated that his condition was not as good as before.
Cao Ya, however, acted as if nothing had happened, even having the leisure to dismount and walk, his hiking boots making a distinctive sound as they stepped on the snow.
Cao Ya straightened up and looked around the snow-capped mountains with a big smile, looking just like a tourist, but not in the desolate and harsh environment of the snow-capped mountains, but in a scenic area with complete facilities.
"Damn it, Cao Ya, what kind of body do you have? Even the horses are panting, but you're perfectly fine." The fat man barely had the strength left to curse.
Wu Xie, panting, said, "You son of a bitch, shut up."
Cao Ya occasionally detached himself from the group to wander around and see the sights. Although he used to be a tomb raider and had been to many places and seen many landscapes, this was the first time he had ever been to a snow-capped mountain like this.
Because he used to work alone, and such a large tomb in the snow-capped mountains is definitely beyond the capabilities of one person, he often kept his distance from it.
This is their first time back, and they still possess great power, so they have no worries whatsoever.
Cao Ya had a great time playing around; no matter how far the group went, he could catch up quickly.
This made everyone envious and jealous.
"Damn it," Pan Zi cursed. He realized for the first time how awesome Fatty's friend was.
Cao Ya wandered in the deep mountains and forests and found some herbs that had been growing for a long time, but he didn't pick them because they were of no use to him.
It would be better to stay in this remote place where some hunters or herbalists live and rely on these things for a living.
When Cao Ya arrived at the overnight location designated by Shunzi, the others were already huddled in the dilapidated wooden house eating. Cao Ya didn't actually need to eat, but after thinking about it, he ate a little.
This building was a supply station for the outposts in the snow-capped mountains. After the multilateral talks, several outposts here were moved to different locations, and this place was abandoned. The outposts along the snow line are now deserted.
None of them slept well that night; the wind and snow were too heavy, and they were worried that the outpost would collapse under the weight of the snow.
Only Cao Ya, half asleep, ran outside. The cold wind blew in, instantly waking the groggy group, who all started cursing.
Cao Ya apologized, closed the door behind him, and the cursing in the room quickly disappeared, followed by a chorus of snores.
"What a snowy day." Cao Ya stood in the blizzard, letting the snowflakes fall on him. He took a few steps to the top of a mountain. Looking out, the moon was half-hidden behind dark clouds, and the sky and the ground were covered with blizzard snow, with a biting cold wind.
"If it were the old me, how would I dare to come to a place like this?" Cao Ya muttered to himself, grateful for the power sharing of his other selves. He felt that he still needed to work harder, and even though he was limited by the world, he still had to make some contribution.
The next morning, everyone got up and continued on their way. Shunzi found it strange that tourists were so hardworking. He knew there was something fishy going on, but since he was being paid, he pretended not to understand and let everyone do as they pleased.
The temperature dropped sharply, and few people in the south could adapt to this kind of weather. Apart from Fatty, Ye Cheng, and Shunzi, everyone else was frozen stiff.
Oh, Cao Ya is an exception.
His relaxed attitude drew frequent glances from the crowd.
By noon, the snow on the ground was so thick that there was no way to walk, and Shunzi had to lead the way with his horse.
Cao Ya was also leading a horse, and was the only one among them who wasn't riding. Seeing that Cao Ya still looked very well, they discussed it and decided to have Cao Ya stay behind so that if anything happened, Cao Ya could be there to help.
Cao Ya leisurely lagged at the very back of the group, tapping his finger a few times. Suddenly, Shunzi felt as if the horse he was leading had gained strength, making him feel much more relaxed.
Suddenly, a gust of wind picked up. Shunzi looked at the clouds, turned around and asked, "Why don't we stop here for today? It looks like there might be strong winds. We've had our fill of seeing the snow-capped mountains, but it's dangerous to go any further."
Chen Pi Asi breathed and waved his hand, telling him to wait.
Everyone stopped to rest, ate some dry rations, and chatted. No one was surprised by Cao Ya's unusual behavior; they were just used to it.
Looking at the snow-capped mountains in front of him, Zhang Qiling frowned slightly, as if he was worried about something.
Wu Xie glanced at Zhang Qiling, knowing that asking him would be pointless, and turned to chat with Fatty.
"What did he remember?" Cao Ya knew Zhang Qiling's identity; he was the patriarch of the Zhang family, named Zhang Qiling, who possessed Qilin blood and was quite skilled.
He has carried a heavy burden and experienced too much, and is still searching for his lost memories.
However, once he truly regains his memories, Zhang Qiling's life will inevitably undergo a dramatic transformation.
It's hard to say whether it's good or bad.
But having a goal to guide you is better than living aimlessly.
