Chapter 33: Shocking Change
Lu Ming did not take the gun that Gu Chao and the others had gotten in the morning. Instead, she carried a bow and arrow specially used for the competition and held a newly purchased sword in her hand.
She and Gu Chao walked side by side in the front, followed by Zhang Yan (earth element) and Han Chong from the special forces team.
The group approached the gate cautiously. Behind the gate was a garden. Passing through the paths in the garden, they could reach the doors of different buildings.
If you ignore the bloodstains and maggot-infested corpses on the ground, it really feels like you have come to a newly built community that has not yet been delivered.
There wasn't a single zombie in sight, yet the group felt their hair stand on end and cold sweat broke out on their foreheads.
Gu Chao turned his head and looked at Peng Shu asking him questions, and pointed in a direction.
Everyone walked carefully through the garden and came to a building.
Gu Chao looked at the dark building entrance and whispered, "Luming, Zhang Yan, and Han Chong, follow me. Yan Song and Peng Shu will provide cover. Leave two people on each floor to guard. Let's fight quickly and decisively. Don't linger."
As he spoke, he took the lead and walked forward.
I took just two steps when I suddenly felt something was wrong.
He turned his head suddenly and saw that the place where Lu Ming was supposed to be standing was now empty!
He was startled and turned around quickly to ask, but before he could open his mouth, he felt two gusts of wind blowing past him. He watched as a line of blood suddenly appeared on the necks of Zhang Yan and Han Chong behind him, and their heads rolled off their necks, with disbelief and horror on their faces.
His eyes widened and he yelled, "Get cover!"
However, no one listened to him, and the others stood there motionless as if they were petrified.
He rushed towards Yan Song and Li Hangyuan, but stopped the next second.
Yan Song's eyes quickly turned white, his pupils shrank, and the flesh on his face became visibly soft, wrinkled, rotten and falling off. The nails on his hands grew long, and he opened his bloody mouth and pounced on him, roaring.
He quickly dodged and fired a shot at Yan Song's leg, hoping to stop him. This failed, and instead angered him, causing him to move even faster! Meanwhile, Li Hangyuan and the other members of the special forces team also transformed into zombies, roaring and charging at him. Faced with so many incredibly fast zombies, he had no choice but to turn and run into the hallway, shooting back as he ran. After knocking down three of them, he quickly rushed into the second-floor corridor, turned around, slammed the hallway door shut, and tightened the lock.
How could this happen?! He broke out in a cold sweat.
Why did they suddenly transform into zombies without any warning?! Why did Lu Ming disappear? And who unleashed those two murderous gusts of wind?
He was breathing heavily, and had no time to think about these questions, nor to feel sad for his teammates who had turned into zombies. He turned on the tactical flashlight and looked around.
This door won't last long. The most urgent thing is to find a way out and escape the zombies chasing behind him, otherwise he might die here today.
Gu Chao held the gun and walked cautiously into the depths of the corridor.
The elevator had no electricity, was abandoned, had no exhaust duct, no garbage chute, and the entire corridor was almost like a dead end.
Then, maybe he could go to someone's house and jump out of the window if he could find the key to the security cage.
Thinking of this, he walked back again. He remembered that he had just seen the security door of the residents at the other end was ajar.
I stopped in front of the door and was about to reach out to push open the security door, but I saw that the crack in the door, which was originally pitch black, suddenly lit up!
The lights inside were turned on!

The more tense the moment, the calmer Gu Chao was. He was not frightened by the strange scene, but instead reached out to push the door.

Gu Chao was a little confused. He stared blankly at the tall figure walking out of the house and whispered, "Dad?"
The figure frowned and shouted, "What are you doing! Why are you pointing a gun at your mother? What if it goes off accidentally?! You're already grown up, and you're still so impulsive! Come in quickly!"
Gu Chao quickly put down his gun and stuttered: "No, no, I was just..."
Oh, by the way, what was he doing just now?
"Come in first, what are you thinking about standing there?" the gentle woman scolded, and even walked out to hold his hand.
Warm, soft hands held him.
Gu Chao lowered his head slightly, looked at the hand, his eyes warm.
"Thank you, thank you, but I'm sorry..." he muttered to himself.
The woman asked curiously, "What are you talking about? Mom didn't hear clearly. Why do you look so strange when you come back this time?"
Gu Chao didn't say anything else. He slowly raised his head with a cold expression on his face.
He suddenly raised his hand and shot the woman between the eyebrows!
"Bang!"
The woman's eyes widened in horror, blood splattered, and her body fell down weakly.
"Bastard! What did you do?!" The tall man in the room rushed out in disbelief and squatted down to smell the woman's breath.
However, before he could question angrily, Gu Chao also shot him.
Gu Chao looked at the two bodies on the ground expressionlessly and whispered, "I'm so sorry. My parents have been dead for more than ten years. Even if I miss them again, I won't deceive myself with falsehood."
Then he suddenly felt a splitting headache and couldn't help but cover his forehead. The scene in front of him became blurred.
When he opened his eyes again, he saw the stone slabs under his feet. He was dazed for a moment and realized that he was still at the entrance of the garden and had not walked out at all.
When I turned around, I saw that Lu Ming’s place was empty!

He looked behind him and saw everyone standing there in a daze, with different expressions on their faces, some with tears streaming down their cheeks, and some with extreme fear.

Gu Chao told them his guess and calmed down at the same time. He thought that Lu Ming might not have entered the illusion. With her skills, she should be safe for the time being.
Gu Chao commanded the people behind him to act according to the original plan. Half of them went to Peng Shu's house to look for someone, and the rest stayed on standby downstairs, trying to stay together and not get separated.
He looked around, and suddenly, his eyes focused and he saw a beam of light flash by somewhere.
