Chapter 4 Leaving

Chapter 4 Leaving

When I woke up in the morning, it was already dawn.

She was stunned for a moment before she realized where she was. She got up, washed up, and opened the door to find the two older brothers already in the living room, one cleaning his gun and the other looking out the window.

Hearing the noise, they both looked at her, "Good morning."

Lu Ming smiled and nodded: "Good morning."

Gu Chao put away his gun: "We are ready to leave. Thank you Miss Lu for yesterday."

Hey, are they waiting to say goodbye to her?

They had no intention of inviting her to join them?

What the hell is going on here? Are these two handsome guys just passersby? Oh my god, how high-quality must the protagonist of this scene be?

Lu Ming stood on the second floor and looked down: "Where are you going?"

The two exchanged glances, and Zhang Rui replied, "We're going downtown."

Going to the city? A city with a lot of people means a lot of zombies, and the danger level is Max.

She writes novels herself and can see that the story background provided by this game is very logical.

Judging from the information obtained so far, the original person was a spoiled rich girl. Her family was not around, but there was enough food in the house. In this situation, it was normal for her to be afraid, nervous, and afraid to go out. However, it was unlikely that she would shamelessly cling to two strange men and enter a dangerous area when they had no intention of traveling with her.

Okay, so you mean you are just a passerby?

Lu Ming felt a little disappointed when she thought of this. She quite liked these two people.

She nodded politely: "Well, then be careful, goodbye." She waved and prepared to go back to her room to rest for a while.

Gu Chao and Zhang Rui stood up and walked out. When they were almost at the door, Gu Chao paused and stopped where he was.

He keenly caught Lu Ming's fleeting depression.

Was it because they were leaving, or because they didn't want to take her with them?

The little girl didn't ask to follow them. Was it because she knew they wouldn't agree, or did she think it was okay to stay here?

He looked around the villa. If anyone else came, they could sneak up to her door quietly and easily subdue this fragile and beautiful girl without having to be very powerful. Then, they could do whatever they wanted.

And what about her? Would she still trust them so easily, share her meager remaining food with them, or even grab a piece of driftwood like a drowning person, hoping that they would stay with her or take her away?

She is so weak, if she stays here alone, she will probably die.

Thinking of the wound on her neck, his eyes darkened and he made a decision.

Forget it, let’s find a safe place and then put her down.

Then he turned around and called her, "Miss Lu."

Lu Ming, who was already touching the door handle, turned around in confusion, "Huh?"

Gu Chao asked: "Want to go together?"

Lu Ming was surprised. What was going on? Was this just a test? Should he go with them? Would he miss out on the plot?

To Gu Chao's surprise, the little girl was not as happy as he had imagined after hearing the invitation, but rather felt a little embarrassed.

Seeing that Gu Chao was about to say "forget it", Lu Ming's gaze moved between his face and waist, he gritted his teeth and nodded in agreement.

For the sake of beauty and gun, double insurance, take a gamble!

Gu Chao: “......?” So reluctant?

But he was kidnapped so easily, the words "I'm easy to cheat" were written on his face.

Gu Chao put another label on Lu Ming in his heart.

Lu Ming had not yet discovered the flaw in her logic. She thought that the villains in the game were easy to identify, and that "good guys" like Gu Chao would not harm her, the "protagonist."

Gu Chao did not change his attitude towards Lu Ming just because she was about to become his teammate. He said coldly, "You pack up first. We'll go next door and leave in half an hour."

Then Zhang Rui left with a happy face.

Lu Ming watched them leave and returned to his bedroom to change. He chose a sports outfit consisting of a long shirt and long pants, added a thin waterproof jacket, put on sneakers, and a black baseball cap.

She found a red backpack and carefully packed half of it with food. Unfortunately, there wasn't much dry food, just some imported bread and biscuits. Fortunately, there was plenty of vacuum-packed meat and a case of bottled mineral water. She could only carry four bottles at most; she couldn't take them all.

Tsk, there's a good chance he won't be back. It's a bit of a waste to leave things here. She thought about it, then wandered around the kitchen and found the gas stove was still working. Unfortunately, she couldn't cook. The new technological age had developed a universal manufacturing machine that could create anything she wanted, even food, instantly. So, she hadn't had any place to hone her cooking skills.

Forget it, don't make things difficult for yourself.

She dug out some first aid kit and finally packed a set of underwear and some tissues and wipes, and she was almost done. Oh, and most importantly, a weapon! She rummaged around in the closet and finally found a wooden baseball bat. She'd just swung it a few times when she heard them open the door.

When I went out, I saw that both of them were carrying a bag, the style of which did not match the style of their uniforms and looked a bit strange.

She slung her bag over one shoulder and pointed to the pile on the ground: "I've packed it up, but I still have a few bottles of water and some food left. Can your bags still hold it?"

Zhang Rui came over after hearing this, poured all the water in, picked out some of the remaining snacks and put them in, then nodded to Gu Chao.

"Let's go." Gu Chao waved his hand and walked out first.

-------------

"Huff, huff..." Lu Ming wiped the sweat from his forehead and walked laboriously behind the two of them.

She is too weak and must not exercise regularly.

They set out in the morning and except for an hour's break at noon, they had been on the road all the time. Lu Ming couldn't stand this intensity at all.

Her whole body ached, especially the soles of her feet, which must have been broken and bruised. But she said nothing. She knew that if she became a burden, she would be left behind without hesitation.

These two people don't look like the Holy Father type.

She really asked for trouble, she sighed for the hundred and first time.

It was almost dark, and she thought she would be able to rest soon, so she gritted her teeth and persevered.

Eh? I looked up and noticed a yellow-green light flickering across the horizon, stretching across the entire sky, seemingly endless.

She stopped and stared at the spectacle with her mouth wide open.

Zhang Rui, who was at the rear, took two quick steps and asked, "Why aren't you leaving?"

"What is that?" Lu Ming asked blankly.

Gu Chao heard the noise and turned around to look in the direction of her hand. "Aurora," he replied.

He frowned. The aurora also appeared on the night the plane crashed. Because of Zhang Rui's sudden coma, they had to act separately, but they didn't know whether people's high fever for no reason was related to the aurora?

He couldn't help but look at Zhang Rui, and suddenly found that the latter's face was flushed, his forehead was covered with sweat, and his eyes were blurred, which was even worse than that night!

He took a few big steps back and supported him. "How is it?"

Zhang Rui nodded dazedly: "I can still hold on. I'm fine."

Lu Ming held his other arm and found that his temperature was very high. He said hurriedly, "He has a fever! Let's find a place to rest."

Gu Chao nodded, pulled his arm and placed it on his shoulder, bearing most of his weight.

"Go to that supermarket." He gestured in a direction with his eyes.

This is the edge of the city. There are not many buildings on both sides of the street. The originally empty land is now even emptier, and the only sound in my ears is the night wind blowing.

The three of them arrived at the door of the supermarket and found that the rolling shutter was half open and the glass door behind it was tied up from the inside with an iron chain.

Lu Ming turned around and asked in a low voice: "Someone is already in there, what should we do?" And it might not be the owner himself, otherwise he would have locked the door instead of using an iron chain without a padlock.

Gu Chao frowned and looked at Zhang Rui again. He was in very bad condition, his steps were starting to become weak, and he urgently needed to cool down. He couldn't find another place to stay.

He didn't answer and was about to go up and knock on the door.

If the people inside don't cooperate, he doesn't mind using force to coerce them. Someone who comes out to take over after only three days of chaos isn't necessarily a good person.

Lu Ming hurriedly grabbed him, "What are you doing?" Gu Chao pointed to the pistol at his waist.

Lu Ming didn't know how many people he could fight at once, but she felt that he might get hurt.

She thought for a moment, then leaned over and whispered something in his ear.

Gu Chao frowned as he listened, his eyes flickering again and again, but he finally nodded and said, "Be careful." Then he helped Zhang Rui hide aside.

Lu Ming cleared his throat and walked through the rolling door. Through the glass, he could vaguely see a few people sitting inside.

She tapped the glass door gently, then took off her hat and held it in her hand, revealing her entire face.

"Is anyone there? Can you open the door and let me in?" she asked "anxious".

She asked several times but got no response. Just when her patience was about to run out, a figure walked in.

"Stop taking pictures! Our place is full, find another place!" a man growled.

It just so happens to be a guy! There’s a way!

"Brother, let me in. It's dark now and there's nowhere to go. I'm so scared." Lu Ming kept begging, his eyes slightly red. He took a step back to expose his face to the dim light outside.

The man, who looked about 40, wore gold-rimmed glasses and had a protruding belly. He frowned at Luming. When he saw her face clearly, a hint of greed flashed in his small eyes as he looked her up and down blatantly.

Lu Ming saw the lust in his eyes and felt disgusted.

In this new technological age, human rights are paramount. Because offspring do not require the union of a man and a woman, marriage has ceased to exist. Furthermore, due to genetic optimization, men and women are equals. Anyone who violates the will of a member of the opposite sex will be deemed to have a genetic defect and, if confirmed, will be immediately exterminated.

The man asked, "Are you alone? Have you ever been bitten by a monster?"

Lu Ming ignored the previous question and just shook his head and said, "No, no, I didn't encounter those monsters on the street."

The man turned back, probably to discuss things with the people inside. After a while, he heard the sound of chains.

He opened the door and called Lu Ming, "Come in, quickly." Lu Ming hurriedly thanked him and went in.

When passing by the man, he only felt a faint fragrance. He looked at Lu Ming's long legs greedily and was about to reach out to touch her buttocks when he suddenly heard two "clatter, clatter" sounds of the rolling shutter door. He turned around and saw two tall figures flashing in.

The man was startled and yelled, "Where are you two from?! Get out of here!"

Gu Chao supported Zhang Rui, his eyes piercing the man like sharp swords. He had seen everything that had just happened, so naturally he wouldn't be kind to such a man.

Gu Chao and his men had seen blood all year round, men who had truly emerged from the ravages of swords, sabers, and gunfire. Even without exerting their full power, they were already filled with murderous intent. The man was frightened by the chill that hit him, his legs weakening. He stammered for a long time, unable to utter a single word.

"Okay, close the door quickly." A hoarse and heavy voice came from inside.

As soon as he finished speaking, little flames began to light up.
