Chapter 61 Mission Accomplished
They stood there and looked back. There was a large number of spider corpses on the road, and the mixture of various body parts looked very disgusting.
The military trucks of the psychic team and the cars that turned around early had already driven a long way away, but not far away, the military trucks of Lu Shaoyang and Captain Wan and several larger cars behind them had no time to move on, so they had to fight with some spiders that surrounded them.
"Fuck!" Everyone in the car secretly cursed the military truck for its vicious mind. It brought these monsters that were picked up from somewhere specifically to their side. After bringing them here, it didn't stop to fight the enemy together, but instead slipped away at a fast speed.
He cursed and threw his supernatural powers away like they were free, but after throwing them out, he found that these spiders had extremely fast reaction speeds and slender bodies. It was difficult for them to hit him with ballistic fireballs, water balls, earth blocks, and gold blades. The spiders also had strong jumping abilities, and the venom they spit out could corrode, so they knocked down several people at once.
Their already tired bodies were now unable to cope, and they could not move freely in the car, so several people almost hit their comrades.
Amidst the panic, a cloud of mist drifted over and sprinkled on the spiders on the ground. Then a loud shout shook everyone's heart: "Lightning strike!"
Zhou Zixi quickly struck several lightning bolts in the direction of the clouds. Blue-purple arcs of electricity immediately spread out from one point, and most of the spiders on the ground were electrocuted. Thick smoke and a burning smell were unbearable.
The combatants, seeing this, felt reassured and began to fight back in an orderly fashion. The Earth and Gold Element cast barriers to protect the perimeter, while the Fire Element and Captain Wan's Poison Element launched ranged attacks, slashing and killing anyone who jumped into the crowd with their swords.
It should have been a tough fight, but it was over in no time. There were casualties, though: Captain Wan's side suffered one death, two serious injuries, and two minor injuries, while Lu Shaoyang's side also suffered two minor injuries. The comrades around them watched the bitten men, their eyes reddening, but they had to hold on to their guns tightly to prevent mutation.
Lu Ming observed the spiders closely and gasped. Some were as big as puppies! Just looking at them was terrifying. It had only been less than three months, how could they have evolved so quickly?
I heard a noise and turned around to see that all the tall and strong men had tears in their eyes. I couldn't help but wonder, were they poisoned?
She leaned over to take a look. No, they were all bitten by non-venomous spiders. If they were poisonous, wouldn't they have died? She glanced at the half-corroded dead body and mourned silently.
The noise was getting louder and louder, and they were talking about revenge.
She asked curiously, "What are you talking about?"
Among the injured people on Lu Shaoyang's side happened to be an acquaintance of his, Tang Yanwen. Han Chong's eyes were red beside him. When he heard Lu Ming's voice, he couldn't help sobbing: "Yanwen was bitten!" Lu Ming was even more puzzled: "So? Does the wound hurt a lot?" She looked at the redness and swelling on Tang Yanwen's hand. It shouldn't be that serious for such a small injury, right?
The noise stopped for a moment, and Han Chong looked incredulous: "Sister, what are you talking about! He's about to turn into a zombie!"
How could she say such a thing?!
However, Lu Ming still didn't understand: "Why did he turn into a zombie? He wasn't bitten by a zombie spider."
The surroundings suddenly became quiet, and everyone looked at the confused little girl under the car.
Han Chong was stunned for a moment and asked, "Sister, what do you mean? If this isn't a zombie spider, what is it?"
"It's a mutant spider."
Seeing their confusion, Lu Ming kindly explained, "Just like humans have zombies, but also people with special abilities, why can't spiders have the same?"
"Ah?! So this is a mutant spider? H-how did you know?"
"Didn't you see? These spiders still have black eyes, their bodies aren't rotten, and they can even fight. If they're not mutant spiders, what are they?" Lu Ming said matter-of-factly. Someone immediately went to check and found that it was indeed the case, shouting excitedly.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, finally no longer having to watch their comrades die.
Tang Yanwen was still a little confused: "So that means I won't turn into a zombie?"
Lu Ming nodded seriously: "Yes."
Lu Shaoyang and his team members started teasing Tang Yanwen, saying they wanted to see if he could turn into Spider-Man.
However, after a while, everyone became a little panicked. If insects could mutate, how long would other things be able to mutate?
Captain Zhou Zixi, Captain Wan, and Lu Shaoyang all came over to express their sincere gratitude to the Chaoyang Squad. If Gu Chao hadn't brought his men to support them, they would have suffered even greater losses. The Chaoyang Squad members didn't care and got in their cars to rest. Zhang Rui and Lin Cong, in particular, felt nauseous after using so many superpowers.
Lu Ming had no choice but to take out some green water to replenish their energy, leaving the others outside to clean up the mess.
They still spent the night at the primary school. They did not wait for those who ran away, but planned to go back to the base directly.
The Chaoyang team sat around the fire, and the few who had recovered started chatting.
Yan Wei and Li Hangyuan were whispering to each other, their eyes constantly glancing at Lu Ming.
Lu Ming endured it for a while, but couldn't help it anymore: "I heard everything! What do you want to ask?"
The two smiled awkwardly, and Yan Wei asked quietly, "I asked, and the man we rescued today is called Zhou Zixi."
"so what?"
"...He's from N University, a sophomore, and the student union president."
Those who were eating noodles slowed down and pricked up their ears.
There is gossip!
Only Lu Ming was still confused: "Oh, you know him?"
That’s not right, she remembered that Yan Wei was a junior.
Yan Wei's eyes widened: "You...you don't know him?"
"I should know him?" This person is not in the same grade as the original owner, and the boy doesn't seem to know her?
Yan Wei coughed to cover up, "Oh, yes, you have lost your memory. It's okay, it's okay, just keep eating."
Seeing their expressions that said, "You're having an affair with that guy," Lu Ming sat up straight and said, "Tell me, what's my relationship with him? Is he my ex-boyfriend?"
I recalled the Zhou Zixi I saw today. He had a stubbled face, dark circles under his eyes, chapped lips, and messy hair...
Lu Ming: Tsk, what kind of aesthetic taste does the original owner have!
Yan Wei looked at her, unable to put it into words: "No, it's you who used to-"
"Sorry to bother you." A clear voice interrupted. Everyone looked up and their eyes lit up. The male protagonist was here!
Zhou Zixi saw the people with shining eyes and resisted the urge to take a step back.
Gu Chao discreetly examined the visitor and frowned slightly, "What's the matter?"
Was this the guy the little girl liked before? A gigolo.
Zhou Zixi looked at Lu Ming and said, "I want to ask Lu Ming a few questions. Is it convenient now?"
Lu Ming raised an eyebrow, "You say."
He looked at the slightly widened almond-shaped eyes in front of him, and the look that looked at her as if she were a stranger, and for some reason, his heart felt a prick.
He looked away and asked, "Have you ever encountered other mutant species before?"
Lu Ming shook his head, "No, today is the first time."
He frowned slightly, "So the way to tell is by looking at the eyes and body?"
"Yes."
"Aside from superpowers, are there any other ways to deal with it?"
