No matter how uneasy Aunt Zhang felt, under Shang Tian's care, Su Qian ate and slept every day, and ate again after sleeping well.
But when he got up that day, he did not see Shang Tian.
"Auntie, where's Tian?" She leaned lazily against Aunt Zhang.
Aunt Zhang's needle and thread continued, and she just smiled at her and said, "Missing him?"
"Mmm." Su Qian showed no shyness whatsoever and readily admitted it.
Hearing Su Qian's words, Aunt Zhang felt both joy and sorrow. "Ah Qian..." she murmured, but didn't know what to say.
Su Qian looked at her, "Auntie, what's wrong with you lately?"
Aunt Zhang shook her head. "It's nothing."
"Yes," Su Qian said angrily, "If there was nothing wrong, you wouldn't be making clothes for us day and night."
Aunt Zhang has made enough clothes recently to last her... a very, very long time.
"I... I feel uneasy." Aunt Zhang sighed. "If one day I'm gone, you must listen to Tian. He won't let you go hungry, okay?"
"But...aren't you afraid he'll find true love and sell me out?" Su Qian took a bite of watermelon and looked at Aunt Zhang with an innocent expression.
Aunt Zhang stiffened, gritted her teeth, and said, "No way." She knew her son well.
But why would Asa say that?
Su Qian shook her head. "Who knows what the future holds?"
"No one can take care of me as reassuringly as you taking care of me yourself, right?"
Have you ever seen how many men in modern times, upon reaching middle age, suddenly encounter true love and abandon not only their wives and daughters, but even their own mothers?
Aunt Zhang smiled wryly and patted Su Qian's head, "Auntie will try her best."
I will try my best to survive and take care of you.
Having received the answer she wanted, Su Qian drowsily leaned against Aunt Zhang and fell asleep.
When he woke up again, he heard Shang Tian's excited voice, "The fruit we made this time has all been sold and we've exchanged it for grain."
I never expected that anyone would be willing to exchange rice for it.
"No matter when, there are always people who have enough to eat and wear."
Hearing their conversation, Su Qian groggily sat up and looked at Shang Tian, "Sold out?"
"Um."
Shang Tian stepped forward, took something out of his pocket and handed it to her, saying, "This is for you."
Su Qian opened the box and found a delicate mung bean cake inside. She carefully picked it up and put it in her mouth.
In my mouth, the flavors of mung beans and sugar blended together. "Delicious."
The sweet taste made her squint her eyes in happiness, but when she looked at the box again, it was empty.
"Thank you." She didn't ask if there was anything else.
Such exquisite food is extremely rare at this time of year.
Shang Tian chuckled and patted her head. "I'll bring you some more next time."
Su Qian, however, shook her head, a rare occurrence, and refused, saying, "No."
Her tone was serious, not at all like she was joking. Shang Tian looked at her with some surprise and asked, "What's wrong? Is it not good?"
"You didn't eat."
Her heart felt a slight warmth.
It's such a wonderful feeling to be thought of constantly.
Shang Tian gently ruffled her hair. "It's alright."
As long as she's happy, that's all that matters, but now... she doesn't seem very happy?
(-'`-;)
Su Qian snorted coldly and said, "I only like what my aunt makes, I don't like what others make."
Hearing this, Aunt Zhang burst out laughing, "I'll cook more meat for A-Qian tomorrow."
"Okay, okay."
The room was filled with laughter, but the palace presented a completely different scene.
