Chapter 11 Life and Death

Why did her mother die?

Su Qian felt a lump in her throat, how dare Su Xin mention her mother?

That's ridiculous.

Her mother was a kind person and never argued with anyone.

What else could cause someone to die?

What else could it be?

"I understand." She spoke each word very slowly, slowly, deliberately, through gritted teeth.

Su Xin was a little confused. She hadn't said anything yet, so how did she know?

She asked tentatively, "You know?"

"Who else could it be but you?" Su Qian practically roared out this simple question.

The resentment that had been weighing on his heart resurfaced.

Even though she knew perfectly well that she had transmigrated into a book world and that Su Xin was the female lead, she still couldn't get close to her.

If one day the world sides with Su Xin, she will have no choice but to become an enemy of the world.

The hatred for killing one's mother is irreconcilable!

As if realizing that Su Qian had misunderstood, Su Xin immediately retorted, "She's not my mother."

“That’s you.” Su Qian’s tone was surprisingly fast.

"It's my father!"

Su Qian sneered, "But you're executioners too."

"Ah Qian." Aunt Zhang listened to their conversation and looked at Su Qian nervously, fearing that something might happen to her.

Su Qian smiled slightly at Aunt Zhang and walked towards her, "Auntie, it's alright, let's go inside."

The rain continued to fall lightly, and Su Qian's clean clothes, which she had just changed into, were soaked again.

But she stood there under the eaves, a slight smile on her face, her lips trembling with bitterness, and said, "Auntie, I have something to tell you."

"Ah Qian, would you like to change your clothes first?"

Seeing the worry in Aunt Zhang's eyes, Su Qian smiled gently, "Auntie, I'm fine."

Aunt Zhang helped Su Qian change her clothes, took a towel, and sat behind her, carefully drying her hair. "Let me tell you a story."

"Um."

“My aunt has five sisters. I am the eldest. My two younger sisters were abandoned in the mountains by my father after they were born.”

"Auntie." Su Qian grasped Auntie's hand, shook her head slightly, and said, "Don't say anymore."

Aunt Zhang's tone was very calm. "That year there was a severe drought. My little sister couldn't survive it, so my parents swapped her with another family."

What can you do with a dead baby?

Su Qian felt her stomach churning, and tears welled up in her eyes. "Aunt...it's all over now."

Faced with such cruelty, no amount of words seems to make sense.

Aunt Zhang gently dried Su Qian's hair, "I'm luckier than my younger sister, I was sold."

"A-Qian, do you think I should hate them?"

Should we hate them?

Su Qian shook her head blankly, "Auntie, I don't know."

Aunt Zhang patted her head affectionately and said, "At first I hated them, I wished they could kill them, but as time went on, I gradually stopped hating them. They were just trying to survive."

That's because God didn't give her a way out, and her parents couldn't do anything about it.

“But Ah Qian, Su Liye is different from my parents. He’s not even a human being.”

"You can't dirty your hands for such beastly things."

Su Qian turned around, grasped Aunt Zhang's hand, and said, "Auntie, he wasn't the one who killed my mother."

"Um?"

Su Qian said with certainty, "It was Chen Wen. She's the one who drove my mother to her death."

She took a deep breath before continuing, "Before my mother died, I saw her reading a letter."

"The letter is..." Aunt Zhang asked in disbelief.
