On the third day of the apocalypse, Su Liye had no choice but to take his family back to their hometown.
Su Xin nestled beside Chen Wen, looking at the filthy road before her, and frowned. "Mother, are we really going to live here from now on?"
Chen Wen patted her hand and whispered, "From now on, you have to call me Auntie, okay?"
Seeing the faint worry in Chen Wen's eyes, Su Xin couldn't help but hate that daughter named Lin Baozhu and her child. What right did they have to take the place of her and her daughter?
Over the years, the mother has never given birth to a son, but the father has remained devoted to her.
Isn't this love enough to move heaven and earth?
Why didn't they give way even after that woman died?
That's absolutely outrageous! Doesn't she know that her father doesn't love her at all?
The father loved the mother; they were a match made in heaven. It's just a pity that that woman had to interfere.
Su Liye pushed open the Su family's door and walked into the hall, but Su Qian was nowhere to be seen. He frowned and asked, "Where is Su Qian?"
It's true that like mother, like daughter. Look at the dignified and well-mannered Su Xin, and then look at Su Qian, who doesn't even know how to greet her father when he comes home. They are worlds apart.
Hearing the commotion, the Shang family next door all came out to see what was going on.
As soon as Aunt Zhang saw them, she gave them a cold look and asked, "What are you doing back here?"
She smiled mockingly, "This is trespassing."
Su Liye looked at her coldly and said, "This is the ancestral home of my Su family."
"This house was redeemed by Su Qianniang. Later, when she and her daughter were struggling, they sold it. It's no longer the Su family's house it is now."
Su Liye hadn't expected this. Just as he was about to say something, he saw a thin, frail little girl walking behind Aunt Zhang. With a mixture of expectation and caution, she called out, "Dad."
When Aunt Zhang saw her come out, she couldn't help but get angry, "Your body hasn't fully recovered yet, how come you're already out in the fields?"
Su Qian smiled and shook her head at her. She looked at Su Liye and asked, "Are you my father?"
Aunt Zhang was a little angry when she saw that she was determined to recognize her father. This child was raised by Lin Baozhu, what did it have to do with Su Liye?
But as soon as Su Liye returned, she ran out without regard for her own health.
This made Aunt Zhang feel as disgusted as if she had swallowed a fly.
Looking at Su Qian, whose face resembled Lin Baozhu's, Su Liye asked with some uncertainty, "A-Qian?"
Su Qian looked a little aggrieved as she approached Su Liye hesitantly, her eyes filled with longing. "Father, I miss you so much."
Su Xin felt displeased when she saw her like this. This was clearly her father, so why did she have to call him "father"?
The thought that her father would no longer be just her father made her feel very sad.
She quickly stepped forward, took Su Liye's arm, and said in a coquettish tone, "Father, is this my sister?"
"Um."
She let go of Su Liye, ran to Su Qian, took her hand, and said, "Sister is so beautiful."
"After Father has a sister, will he not love Xin'er as much anymore?"
Her pouting little mouth was incredibly endearing. Su Liye chuckled and pinched her cheek, saying, "Daddy doesn't love anyone, but he won't neglect you."
Su Qian let her hold her hand. Watching the interaction between Su Xin and Su Liye, she was filled with envy. All the children in the village had fathers, but she was the only one without one.
She asked her mother, but her mother could only cry.
Now that her mother is gone, she has a father. Will her father treat her the same way he treated her sister?
Thinking of this, a hint of joy flashed through Su Qian's heart.
Seeing Aunt Zhang's increasingly dark face, Chen Wen stepped forward, took Su Qian's hand, and said, "Good girl, it's been so many years, and you've grown into such a beautiful woman."
Su Qian lowered her head slightly and said shyly, "Auntie, you flatter me."
Upon hearing the word "aunt," Chen Wen's hand stiffened slightly, and a hint of displeasure flashed in Su Xin's eyes.
Seeing his beloved concubine so aggrieved, Su Liye sighed inwardly and said to Su Qian, "Now that your mother is gone, your second aunt should be in charge of the household. From now on, just call her 'mother' and don't call her 'aunt' anymore."
It felt too distant.
Aunt Zhang was about to explode when she heard this. She was about to curse when Su Qian called out "Mother" with a hint of shyness.
"What did you call her?" Aunt Zhang's anger instantly shifted to Su Qian. "Your mother raised you all by herself with great difficulty, and you call someone else 'mother' just because they flatter you a little? How can you face her?"
Aunt Zhang was heartbroken. She knew all too well how difficult it was to raise a child in this world.
Lin Baozhu has only been dead for three days, and the child she raised with all her heart and soul is already calling someone else's mother.
Aunt Zhang felt sorry for her and thought she was being treated unfairly.
Su Qian almost burst into tears when she was yelled at. She said with a hint of grievance, "Auntie, Father wouldn't hurt me."
"Fine, fine, fine." Aunt Zhang almost laughed until she cried. She felt that her efforts over the past ten years were not worth it. "You actually think I would harm you? Then go back to your home."
Su Qian was a well-behaved girl. Seeing that Aunt Zhang was angry, she wanted to go forward and apologize, but her hand was held by Chen Wen. "Sister, you have such a temper."
Qianqian was just listening to her father; how could you be so heartless and unjust as you described?
If she truly refuses to listen to her father, then she would be considered unfilial.
Aunt Zhang ignored Chen Wen and looked at Su Qian, asking, "Do you think so too?"
Su Qian wanted to say no, but with Chen Wen's encouragement, she slowly nodded.
