Shang Tian blushed with embarrassment. Why was he speaking such blunt truths?
"Mother," he called out somewhat shyly.
Aunt Zhang rolled her eyes at him. How could she not know what her own child was thinking?
"We all know you like Asahi, but Asahi hasn't realized it yet."
In her opinion, Su Qian is still young, so there's no rush.
Moreover, having Shang Tian as a backup option made her feel even more at ease.
As for Shang Tian... what's the rush for a man like him?
Shang Tian understood the implication in Aunt Zhang's words and, in a moment of excitement, stuffed two more pieces of wood into the fire, which instantly blazed up.
Under the scorching heat of the raging fire, Aunt Zhang's stir-fried dishes were perfectly... burnt.
"What are you doing, you unlucky kid?"
It's such a shame that such a perfectly good pot of food can't be eaten now.
Shang Tian glanced at the slightly charred vegetables in the pot and asked with a hint of trepidation, "How about I just have this for lunch?"
Seeing Aunt Zhang glaring at him, he said somewhat embarrassedly, "Mom, I'm fine."
There are so many people out there who can't afford to eat right now. Even this slightly burnt dish is incredibly rare and expensive to find elsewhere.
"You're eating in the kitchen today, don't go out." How could this food possibly be delicious?
Don't wait, or it will affect A-Qian's appetite.
Shang Tian: "......" Is this his biological mother?
"Mother, did you and Aunt Lin switch babies back then? Isn't A-Qian your real child?"
Aunt Zhang shook her head, a hint of disappointment in her voice, "How could that be? Your Aunt Lin has such good eyesight, how could I possibly have a chance?"
Shang Tian: "..." (°ー°〃)
So, she switched whenever she had the chance?
(╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻
"Mom, I'm ready to eat."
"Oh." Aunt Zhang scooped the slightly burnt dish onto a plate and handed it to Shang Tian, saying, "Eat quickly, then go out and take a look."
"Okay." Although the village walls are high, we still need to be careful to prevent birds and other animals from breaking in.
With such enormous creatures as big dogs in front of them, how could they dare to underestimate other animals?
"Ah Tian."
Shang Tian looked up, puzzled, at Aunt Zhang. "Mom, what's wrong now?"
"A-Qian is not simple."
Shang Tian remained silent for a moment before saying, "I know."
How could a normal person eat so much?
But no matter how extraordinary she is, she is still his A-Qian, and he must protect her.
"Mother, A-Qian is doing well."
The determination in his eyes startled Aunt Zhang; both of them were her children, and she didn't want either of them to get hurt.
"Ah Tian..." she called out to Shang Tian, but in the end she said nothing, only letting out a long sigh.
"I'm so hungry." Su Qian leaned against the kitchen doorway, staring intently at Shang Tian. "You're eating all by yourself."
Shang Tian and Aunt Zhang both stiffened. How much of what they had just said had Su Qian actually heard?
Shang Tian quickly came to his senses, chuckled, and shook his head, "Does A Qian want to eat?"
As she spoke, she held up the uncooked dish in her hand. Looking at the scene on his plate, Su Qian shook her head repeatedly, "I don't want to."
She turned her head and looked at Aunt Zhang expectantly, "I want to eat what Auntie makes."
"Good, good, good." Aunt Zhang smiled with the satisfaction of a loving mother.
She took a plate of osmanthus cake from the cabinet next to her and handed it to Su Qian, saying, "Eat this first."
"Uh-huh."
Shang Tian closed his eyes, finished eating the food in front of him, stood up, and said, "I'm going on patrol now."
"Wait a minute," Aunt Zhang called out to him, "Have you forgotten what we just talked about?"
"No," Shang Tian gritted his teeth. "But doesn't A-Qian refuse to go out with me?"
