Whenever Su Qian does something wrong, Su Xin always sides with her.
However, each time Su Xin spoke, Su Qian received an even harsher punishment.
But Su Qian always believed that Su Xin was the best person in the family to her, because only she would speak up for her.
That day, Su Qian found a person near the pigsty. The person had many injuries, and Su Qian was extremely scared. She wanted to find someone to share this burden with her.
She told Su Xin about it, and Su Xin simply said, "Take me to see that person first."
Su Qian didn't suspect anything and led the person directly to the pigsty.
Su Xin frowned slightly as she looked at the disheveled man lying on the straw. She quickly stepped forward and examined him.
It was a knife wound, not a zombie bite.
She breathed a sigh of relief. This must be someone of extraordinary origin. If she saved him, would they get into trouble?
But since he was already here, she thought for a moment and said, "Sister, please take good care of him. If he needs anything, just tell me."
"Okay." Seeing that Su Xin was wholeheartedly helping her, Su Qian was extremely moved.
Su Xin was still somewhat undecided. She went back into the house and whispered to Chen Wen about it, "Mother, do you think that person seems like a good person?"
Chen Wen smiled and said, "Didn't you already have a plan in mind?"
At this point, Su Xin couldn't help but sigh, "Mother, there are zombies everywhere outside, but the village is full of brutes."
What am I to do with the rest of my life?
Hearing her words, Chen Wen couldn't help but feel worried. "But we don't know that person well, and we don't know his character either."
Why don't you let Su Qian try first?
Should we let Su Qian give it a try?
Su Xin frowned. "If I really marry him someday, won't Su Qian be able to outdo me?"
Chen Wen tapped her forehead and said, "You're still too soft-hearted. If Su Qian had died early, and you had married into the family, who would have remembered that incident?"
Su Xin was terrified. Although she disliked Su Qian, she had never thought of taking her life.
"Isn't this a bad idea?" she asked hesitantly.
The man looked dignified and dressed in fine clothes; he must be someone extraordinary.
If I could get his protection...
Su Xin was extremely conflicted. After all, she was still a fifteen-year-old girl, and she had never seen such methods before.
Chen Wen pulled her into her arms and whispered, "Xin'er, you're my only child. I would never harm you."
Su Xin believed these words, but murder...
"Mother, let me think about it some more."
Chen Wen knew that pushing this too hard wouldn't be good, so she just nodded in agreement.
Su Xin returned to her room, but tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep.
She was extremely agitated, so she stood up and headed towards the pigsty. It was late at night, the fog was thick, and the air was bitterly cold. After thinking for a moment, she pulled out the blanket that was at the bottom of the bed and carried it with her.
Su Qian was a very light sleeper, and she woke up when she heard the sound. She opened her eyes groggily and looked in the direction of the person who came. "Why is my sister here?"
Su Xin glanced at the unconscious man lying on the ground and said, "It's getting cold now, and I was worried that my sister didn't have enough blankets, so I brought one over."
Su Qian looked at the blanket in her arms and was deeply moved.
Although these things once belonged to her.
But her parents insisted that Su Xin use these things, and no matter how unwilling Su Xin was, she could not disobey her parents' orders.
Su Qian looked at the quilt but didn't take it. "If I use this quilt, what will happen to my sister?"
Xiao Lin groggily opened his eyes and heard the conversation between the two. He couldn't help but feel that his younger sister was a kind person.
Su Xin stuffed the blanket into Su Qian's arms and said, "If you get cold, sister, you won't be able to get up to work tomorrow, and Father will scold you again." She lowered her head with a hint of shame and said, "I always want to help you with some work and say some nice things to you."
But every time I did that, Father would get even angrier.
She held Su Qian's hand and said, "Sister, will you blame me for being useless?"
Su Qian gently patted her hand, "How could that be? You're my own sister. It's getting late, you should go home soon."
Su Xin glanced at the man again and asked, "Sister, how is his injury?"
Speaking of this, Su Qian's lips curled up slightly, "It's much better now, it should be fine."
"That's good. Just make sure he doesn't get cold."
If you need anything else, please let me know, sister.
Su Qian was so moved she didn't know what to say. She saved Su Xin's life, but it meant Su Xin had to suffer from the cold as well.
She shook her head and said, "There's enough food."
Su Xin didn't want to stay any longer, so she went back as well.
That night, Su Qian had a warm quilt and slept very well.
Xiao Lin only had the straw that Su Qian used to cover him with to keep warm, but he was still very uncomfortable.
Whenever he thought about how Su Qian had used the quilt that Su Xin had given him, he gritted his teeth in hatred. It was clearly the girl who had let go of it and given it to him.
Despite the discomfort, he woke up, leaned against the wall, and struggled to his feet, walking towards the front yard.
As it happened, Su Liye was at home. Upon seeing him arrive, he immediately knelt down and shouted "Long live the Emperor!" three times.
Xiao Lin breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Su Liye recognized him, and said, "Rise."
His gaze unconsciously swept over Su Xin, who stood gracefully behind Chen Wen, and the corners of his mouth involuntarily turned up slightly. "This must be Lady Su?"
Su Xin stepped forward, gave a graceful curtsy, and said, "This humble girl, Su Xin, greets Your Majesty."
Xiao Lin simply smiled and told people to get up, completely ignoring Su Qian.
