Liu Xiaoyuan followed Ding Ping and then got into Ding Ping's car. After getting in the car, Xiao Xin couldn't help but ask, "Ding Ping, what exactly is going on?"
Ding Ping knew what Xiao Xin was asking about; it must be about her parents. Ding Ping said, "Miss, your grandparents will naturally tell you about this. It's not convenient for me to say."
Liu Xiaoyuan sat quietly in the car without saying a word.
Seeing Liu Xiaoyuan's appearance, Xiaoxin said apologetically, "I'm sorry, my benefactor, I'm so sorry."
Liu Xiaoyuan glanced at Xiaoxin and thought to himself, "Why are you pretending to be so pitiful now? When you used the love potion on me, did you not think about my feelings?"
"What's the use of saying sorry now? If you really feel sorry for me, then give me the antidote," Liu Xiaoyuan said irritably.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Xin looked troubled and said, "I'm sorry, I don't have the antidote."
Ding Ping, who was driving, couldn't help but ask, "Young Master, what antidote do you want Miss Xiao Xin to give you?"
"It's none of your business, don't ask any more questions." Xiao Xin said fiercely to Ding Ping, without any politeness, behaving like a spoiled young lady.
The atmosphere inside the car became extremely oppressive. No one spoke. Liu Xiaoyuan simply looked at the scenery outside the car, thinking about what to do if Xiaoxin's grandmother changed her mind. Did he really have to marry Xiaoxin and be good to her for the rest of his life? What would happen to Lu Siyao and the others?
The more Liu Xiaoyuan thought about it, the angrier he became, and the more uncomfortable he felt.
Seeing Liu Xiaoyuan like this, Xiaoxin felt very sad. In her heart, she had fallen for Liu Xiaoyuan. It wasn't just because Liu Xiaoyuan was handsome, but more importantly, because Liu Xiaoyuan had saved her grandmother, which made Xiaoxin develop feelings for him. Otherwise, Xiaoxin wouldn't have used the love potion on Liu Xiaoyuan.
After driving for about four hours, the car finally stopped. Liu Xiaoyuan looked around and saw that the car was parked in a huge yard. The yard was paved with cement and was very large. Several luxury cars were parked in the parking area.
Looking ahead, one can see rows of wooden houses scattered in the courtyard, resembling an estate.
It seems that Xiaoxin's maternal grandparents were big landowners; at least in this area, they were powerful figures.
"Miss Xiaoxin, young master, please!" Ding Ping smiled and led the way forward.
Liu Xiaoyuan and Xiaoxin followed Ding Ping into a wooden house in the center of the courtyard.
Along the way, they encountered many servants. When these servants saw Ding Ping, they all addressed him as steward. It seems that Ding Ping's position in the Ding family is not low; he is at least a steward.
"Miss Xiaoxin, son-in-law, the old master and the others are waiting for you in here." Ding Ping said, pointing to the door of the room. Then, Ding Ping knocked on the door. "Old master, Miss Xiaoxin and son-in-law have arrived."
"Come in, let Miss Xiaoxin and the others in quickly!" came an old man's voice from inside.
Ding Ping immediately pushed open the door and let Xiao Xin and Liu Xiaoyuan in. After the two went in, Ding Ping closed the door and left.
Upon entering the house, Liu Xiaoyuan saw two people sitting inside, both elderly people in their sixties or seventies, a couple, who were smiling at Xiaoxin and him.
These two elderly people must be Xiaoxin's maternal grandparents.
"Xiaoxin, Xiaoxin, come here quickly, come here and let Grandma see you." Upon seeing Xiaoxin, Xiaoxin's grandma immediately stood up from her chair and walked towards Xiaoxin.
Perhaps it was because of blood ties, but Xiao Xin felt an extraordinary sense of kinship with the unfamiliar old man in front of her and immediately went over to him.
"So alike, so much like your mother, so much like your mother!" Upon seeing Xiao Xin, the old man burst into tears, extremely excited.
“Xiaoxin, I’m your maternal grandmother, and that’s your maternal grandfather,” Xiaoxin’s maternal grandmother said excitedly.
However, Xiaoxin still couldn't bring herself to call them "Grandpa" and "Grandma." After all, she felt a sense of warmth towards these two elderly people, but she found it difficult to say them.
Upon seeing Xiaoxin, the two elderly people did not call out, nor did they say anything, but simply smiled.
"Xiaoxin, come here, let Grandpa take a look," Xiaoxin's grandfather said to her.
After hearing this, Xiao Xin hesitated for a moment, but finally walked towards her maternal grandfather.
Liu Xiaoyuan stood aside, watching Xiaoxin's family reunite; it wasn't his business. But one thing puzzled him greatly: Xiaoxin's father's house and her mother's house weren't far apart, so why hadn't Xiaoxin's maternal grandparents sent someone to pick her up and take her home all these years?
Judging from the fact that Xiaoxin's grandmother recognized Ding Ping, it means that Xiaoxin's maternal grandparents must have known where Xiaoxin was a long time ago.
I don't understand, I really don't understand.
Liu Xiaoyuan didn't bother to think about this problem, because it seemed to have nothing to do with him.
"You must be Xiaoxin's husband?" Xiaoxin's grandmother walked up to Liu Xiaoyuan, looked him up and down, and nodded with satisfaction. "Not bad, handsome and talented, a perfect match for my Xiaoxin."
Liu Xiaoyuan quickly said, "Grandma, don't misunderstand. I have no relation to Xiaoxin at all. You can ask Xiaoxin if you don't believe me."
Xiao Xin's maternal grandparents were stunned for a moment. Didn't Ding Ping call you son-in-law?
"Xiaoxin, is what he said true?" Xiaoxin's grandmother asked, looking at Xiaoxin.
Xiao Xin glanced at Liu Xiaoyuan, a hint of disappointment flashing in her eyes, and then said, "Yes, he is my benefactor, not my husband."
"You are Xiaoxin's savior! I want to thank you so much for saving Xiaoxin!" Xiaoxin's grandmother said excitedly, holding Liu Xiaoyuan's hand without even asking what he had done.
"Grandma, don't thank me. I didn't save Xiaoxin. I just paid some money so that Xiaoxin's grandma could have the surgery," Liu Xiaoyuan quickly said.
Upon hearing this, Xiao Xin immediately said, "If it weren't for you, my benefactor, Grandma might have lost her life. If Grandma were gone, Xiao Xin wouldn't want to live anymore."
Xiao Xin grew up relying on her grandmother, and they had a very close relationship. So, it's not surprising that Xiao Xin would say something like that.
“Xiaoxin, you still have your grandparents. You mustn’t say such silly things. This is your home from now on, understand?” Xiaoxin’s grandmother said quickly.
After glancing at her maternal grandparents, Xiaoxin immediately asked, "Can you tell me about my parents?"
Xiao Xin never got an answer to this question because her grandmother never told her about it. Whenever Xiao Xin asked about her parents, her grandmother would always say that she would tell her in due time and that she shouldn't ask now.
The more Xiaoxin's grandmother said this, the more Xiaoxin wanted to know the truth. Today she finally met her maternal grandparents, and they must know the truth, so Xiaoxin was determined to find out.
