Tomorrow Night Town Sacrifice 1

Tomorrow Night Town Sacrifice 1

Witnessing the tragic scene of corpses everywhere, Chu Li's legs couldn't help but go weak and he instinctively collapsed to the ground.

Suddenly, she felt a force behind her, followed by a warmth on her back. She subconsciously leaned towards the warmth, reaching out and tightly grasping the clothes in the man's hand for support.

I felt a breath of air on my neck, which made me feel itchy.

Chu Li realized something instantly, turned his body, raised his head slightly, and saw You Chengze's slightly pale face entering his sight.

She opened her mouth to say thank you.

The next moment, You Chengze glanced at her lightly, then withdrew his left hand as if it were too hot. Then, the man's eyes slowly fell on the seven or eight bodies lying on the grass, and then, with a long step, he took a step forward.

"You Chengze!"

Realizing what he was about to do, Chu Li couldn't help but exclaim.

She felt that this man had never seen such a situation before and was so frightened that he was so foolish and brave? Not to mention where these people came from and whether they had enemies, just talking about these people, no one knew how they died. If there was an infectious disease, it would be a disaster!

As Chu Li was thinking, he saw You Chengze squatting down, with his slender fingers slightly bent to cover his breath. He picked up a dry stick from the ground with his right hand and slowly lifted the cloth on the dead body.

Chu Li had not yet recovered from the shock. She clenched her fists, swallowed involuntarily, and pretended to be calm as she followed You Chengze's gaze.

Under the thin layer of cloth, the wheat-colored skin that should have been intact was dark brown, with scars of varying sizes on both sides, some scabby and some newly added, which was shocking to see.

The skin on the deceased's face had long since shriveled, with deep sunken areas under his eyelids and dry, pale lips, giving the impression that he had been drained of his vital energy by a demon.

Chu Li stared at the man's back. Seeing that he didn't speak for a long time, she felt more and more gloomy in her heart. She opened her mouth to speak.

"He's been dead for a while." The man underground finally spoke. He stood up and looked toward the horizon. "He must have jumped off a cliff."

? !

Chu Li was startled and looked in the direction You Chengze was looking.

The sun blazed brightly in the sky, midday, and it was especially blinding. Chu Li raised his hand to shade himself, barely able to make out the halo of light. It cast an undulating, curved line. The lush trees drooped their tips slightly, and the scorched areas faintly rippled like the sea.

Too high, too far.

How did these people fall down? Didn't their relatives come looking for them after they disappeared?

Chu Li frowned slightly, looked up at You Chengze who took out a handkerchief to wipe his hands, and asked, "What should we do now?"

Hearing this, You Chengze paused in wiping for a moment, then raised his deep eyes, a hint of impatience overflowing from the depths of his eyes. Although it was fleeting, Chu Li caught it keenly.

"There is no salvation for the dead; this is the way of the world."

After saying this, You Chengze stretched out his hand to call the frightened alpaca, touched its head with his big paw, and then led him up the hill.

Chu Li, who was left behind, came to his senses, looked at the spirit pet and the man walking away, and then looked at the creepy corpses beside them.

That’s all!

What the hell is a sense of responsibility? This is a different world, and basically everyone can't protect themselves. What's the use of having a sense of responsibility? Can it protect her and her spirit pet from starving?

Chu Lisi thought about it and felt that You Chengze's words made a lot of sense, so he immediately grabbed the small cloth bag on his back and ran towards the figures, shouting, "You Chengze! Slow down, I'm still behind you!"

She ran forward hurriedly, taking two steps at a time, and only when her pace was finally the same as You Chengze did she break free from her previous nervousness and fear.

Chu Li looked at You Chengze.

The man's attention was completely focused on the pets, as if he was afraid that something might happen to the furry creatures.

Chu Li, who witnessed this scene, pulled the corners of her mouth helplessly. For a moment, she didn't know whether she should be happy that her spiritual pet was so favored; or should she feel sad about her humble status.

She sighed softly.

Knowing that You Chengze was a taciturn person who didn't like to talk much, he also calmed down and looked at the map in his hand.

On the kraft paper, the ink spread out, and a small town came into view. The area around the town was covered with grass and trees hand-painted by You Chengze, which were detailed and lifelike.

I have to say, the man's painting skills are really good. Chu Li sighed in his heart.

Then, he focused his attention on getting on with his journey.

As time passed, the distant sun slowly withdrew its brightness, leaving only a vast expanse of orange and red lingering in the sky. Under the setting sun, the four characters "Mingye Town" seemed to be coated in a layer of golden light.

Finally arrived at the destination.

Chu Li took a breath and looked up at the setting sun. The dead branches of the trees intersected with the red sky, casting a sparse shadow that was extremely uncomfortable. She swallowed instinctively, and only when an uncomfortable dryness came from her throat did she realize how dehydrated she was.

She subconsciously reached into her bag, about to open the bottle and drink some water, when she suddenly felt a heaviness on her legs. She looked down and saw the alpaca, who had been so energetic just a moment ago, now slumped over on the ground, a hint of weakness in its watery eyes, and it occasionally stuck out its tongue at Chu Li.

Chu Li was stunned, then looked at You Chengze beside him. His condition didn't appear to be particularly bad, but a thin layer of sweat formed on his neck, forehead, and nose, making his already pale face even paler. However, You Chengze had no idea how fragile his body was; he simply raised his hand to soothe the remaining pets.

The temperature in the town tomorrow night was extremely strange. Humans would sweat profusely when they stood on the ground, let alone these spiritual pets.

Chu Li was so distressed that she didn't care about her own thirst and immediately squatted down. She carefully opened the kettle and was about to pour it into the alpaca's mouth.

Suddenly, a heavy force came from the side. To prevent the alpaca from getting hurt, Chu Li almost subconsciously let go of the hand holding the kettle and hugged the alpaca in his arms.

When she recovered from her unbalanced state, Chu Li suddenly saw a double image in front of her eyes.

She raised her eyes.

You Chengze's figure was facing away from her. The setting sun in the distance fell on the man, making his somewhat thin body look even taller.

"Kid, are you so uneducated?"

Hearing the voice, Chu Li turned his head and looked in the direction the man was looking.

Not far away, a little boy stood. His hair was a mess, as if it had been bombarded with artillery shells, tangled in patches and particularly unpleasant. His skin was dark, and the sides of his face, perhaps from long periods of neglect, were still noticeable even from this distance. His clothes were black and patched, looking like someone's discarded belongings. His small frame couldn't support the clothes' bulk, and even the overgrown sleeves on his arms had been rolled up, revealing his dark, wounded hands.

The boy was still holding Chu Li's water cup tightly in his hand.

Chu Li was startled and slowly stood up from the ground, but heard the little boy sneer and ask, "What does this have to do with you?"

"You stole our water!"

Hearing the boy's rude answer, Chu Li's sympathy just now disappeared instantly, and he spoke to the boy with dissatisfaction.

The little boy looked up after hearing this, then fiddled with the kettle for a while and smiled slyly, "What's the big deal? This is my territory!"

Just as he finished speaking, an urgent voice came from the town gate.

"Juanwa, put down your kettle quickly!"

An old man was running over hurriedly. He walked in a rather awkward manner, his pace was even a little unstable.

When he was near the little boy, the old man stopped for a moment.

He looked at the unruly little boy, his gray beard trembling slightly, and the next moment he heard him scolding, "I told you to stay home with your mother, why did you come here and bully others?!"

After the old man finished speaking, he reached out and snatched the kettle that the little boy was holding tightly in his hand.

Feeling the weight in the kettle, the old man's eyes flashed with surprise, but he quickly concealed it.

"I'm so sorry, young men. I'm Chen Zemin, the mayor of Mingye Town, and this child is my grandson, Juanwa." Chen Zemin paused, then smiled sheepishly at the two of them. "His parents weren't around when he was little, so I spoiled him and he's been very naughty. I'm so sorry."

After saying that, Chen Zemin returned the kettle to its original owner.

After hearing Chen Zemin's apology, Chu Li felt much better.

She squatted down and continued to feed her spirit pets. After the furry creatures had recovered a little from lack of water, she asked, "Mayor, is there a place to rest here?"

Hearing this, the mayor, who had just been smiling kindly, suddenly became serious.

Staring at his tightly furrowed brows, Chu Li was extremely puzzled. However, before he could even ask, he heard Chen Zemin angrily wave his sleeves, snorted coldly, and said, "Please go back, both of you!"

Hearing this, Chu Li was stunned and hurried forward to explain, "We are contestants in this Spirit Pet Ambassador Competition. We have finally made it here. Could you please let us in?"

"Go down this path and there's a cave to rest. You can go there." Chen Zemin paused. "It's not completely dark yet, so it'll only take half an hour. It's just enough time for you to rest."

Hole?!

She and You Chengze had been on their journey since early morning, and they didn't dare to delay eating for fear of missing the time to arrive in the town.

And this group of people!

Cold-hearted and selfish!

Chu Li was very angry at the moment and took a few steps forward to explain.

Suddenly, the little boy named Juanwa nimbly stood in front of Chu Li.

"Didn't you hear what my grandfather said?" The boy raised his head and spoke in an extremely arrogant tone.

Chu Li frowned, still unwilling to give up.

It’s okay if she lives alone. When she just graduated, she lived everywhere.

But now it’s different. Not only does she have the sick You Chengze with her, but she also has several cute furry sons.

She had to fight again and not let him suffer.

Thinking about it, Chu Liyu was about to take a step forward and continue talking.

Suddenly, the boy in front of her stretched out his dark hands and pushed them towards her lower abdomen.
