The moonlight was faint, as if frost had settled on the ground.
Chu Changning looked up at him, the moonlight illuminating his silhouette, making it somewhat hazy. All the events of the past years flashed through her mind, and she softly retorted.
"If I die, you'll marry a bunch of women and bully my son. You wish!"
Yan Beimo narrowed his eyes slightly and said slowly, "Why didn't you try to notify me while you were alive?"
Chu Changning remained silent, her head bowed.
"If I don't go to the northern frontier, will I ever know you're still alive? Are you planning to follow Helian Ye for the rest of your life?"
"---"
A brief silence fell over the room.
Yan Beimo felt a sharp pain from her indifferent expression. He released her, strode to the bed, sat down, and looked out at the fireworks.
In the dimly lit room, neither of them spoke, their emotions a complex mix of feelings.
Chu Changning caught a glimpse of the crimson stain on his chest, silently turned around and went out to call the imperial physician.
"Chu Changning~"
Her gentle voice carried a hint of vulnerability; she paused, turned around, and explained.
"I'll go get the doctor for you, he'll be in shortly."
Yan Beimo refused, "No need, come here."
Chu Changning ignored him, turned around and walked out, his face turning ashen with anger.
The sky was pitch black, and the wind blew from afar. Night Hawk heard her words and was overjoyed. He immediately went to call the imperial physician.
She didn't go back inside. Instead, she sat on a bench outside the porch, watching the fireworks light up the sky, lost in thought, seemingly preoccupied with something.
The imperial physician arrived quickly, and soon the room returned to quiet.
Chu Changning heard someone come out of the house, looked up and met his eyes.
Their eyes met, and he walked over, grabbed her, and pulled her into his arms.
"You liar."
A cool breeze swept through the hall, and his scent suddenly filled my nostrils.
Chu Changning retorted, "You too."
There was a moment of silence around them, and then he tightened his grip on her.
"A-Ning, come back to the palace with me."
The night at the border was chilly, and the moon overhead shone exceptionally brightly, its snow-white light spilling onto the ground like flowing water.
Chu Changning remained silent, nestled in his arms without uttering a word.
Suddenly, a gust of wind blew past her ear, and he swept her up in his arms and carried her into the house.
He's always been like this, and she's used to it, so she doesn't show any expression.
Once inside, she was placed on the couch, and he sat on the edge of the bed, looking down at her.
Where have you been for the past six months?
Seeing his scrutinizing look, Chu Changning glared at him and said, "Who are you questioning?"
"I'm asking you, tell me."
"---"
Chu Changning was most annoyed by his arrogant attitude, so she grabbed the quilt from the side, lay down, covered her head, and ignored him.
Yan Beimo, "---
He climbed onto the bed and reached out to pull at her blanket.
Chu Changning jolted, her slender hands gripping tightly, pressing her body against her back, and with a forceful roll, her entire body was tightly wrapped in the quilt.
She only showed her head, her back to him, her long black hair cascading down her back and onto his pillow. Her eyelids drooped, and she closed her eyes.
"---"
Yan Beimo bent down, reached out and pulled hard, tumbling her over and pinning her down with the blanket.
Chu Changning opened her eyes and looked at him. The two were close together, and she could clearly see the greed and hunger in his eyes. However, she didn't know if she was overthinking it or what, but she vaguely felt that he was different from before, with gentleness and pity.
In the darkness, a pair of bright black eyes stared intently at him.
Yan Beimo's throat bobbed, and his gaze shifted downwards to her lips.
"You've been following him?"
Chu Changning knew that he wouldn't let it go unless he explained things clearly, so he gave a few vague answers.
The room was dimly lit, with soft blankets and high pillows, and red silk curtains. Every now and then, the sound of crackling sparks from outside the window broke the silence inside.
Yan Beimo didn't speak again, but bent down and buried his head in her neck, hugging her and taking a deep sniff.
Even though she couldn't see his face, Chu Changning could feel the solid muscles pressing down on her.
It wasn't the ferocious burlyness of a warrior, but rather the smooth lines of his muscles. Born into a distinguished family, he also possessed the refined elegance of a scholar. He was extremely tall, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, and perfect proportions.
Memories of their past absurdities flooded back, and her eyes became slightly uneasy as she tried to push him away.
But the blankets were all wrapped around her, so she couldn't free her hands and had to speak.
"You're sinking, get up."
“I’ve never seen you complain about the weight even when I’ve pressed down on you all night before.”
Chu Changning's face instantly turned bright red, and he said in a feigned fierce tone, "You're talking nonsense."
Yan Beimo raised an eyebrow, reverting to his usual demeanor, and reached out to remove her quilt.
She was almost suffocating from his advances, yet she stubbornly refused to let him touch her, twisting her waist and struggling to get closer.
He didn't indulge her; he simply picked her up, blanket and all, and pulled her out from under the covers.
The wind blew in through the open gaps in the window, causing the soft gauze curtains on both sides to sway in the breeze. She felt a little cold and looked up at him.
Yan Beimo quickly stripped the two of their clothes off and wrapped them in blankets.
Chu Changning had no time to react before their skin touched.
His hand was around her waist, but he didn't make any movement. She remained tense and didn't dare to move.
In the darkness, the two men's breathing was faint yet clear. The voices of the night watchman echoed through the mansion, and the sounds of gongs and drums slowly reverberated in the night.
Listening to his heartbeat, Chu Changning asked softly, "Why are you panting?"
"Is there?"
Yan Beimo casually asked a question, his hand stroking her waist. Her skin was as smooth as mutton fat jade, and the touch was incredibly silky.
He slowly climbed upwards, his flat stomach and high chest visible.
Chu Changning couldn't help but let out a soft moan, reaching out to grab his restless hand and letting out a sweet cry.
What are you doing?
No sooner had he finished speaking than he suddenly flipped over and pinned her down, grabbing her arms with one hand and lowering his head to kiss her soft lips deeply.
Chu Changning's eyes widened, and she subconsciously glanced at his bandaged chest, then bit him angrily.
Dead color embryo.
He didn't flinch at all, kissing her passionately, his legs clamping tightly around hers, completely trapping her in his embrace.
Chu Changning wanted to curse, but instead uttered a seductive moan, her cheeks and eyes instantly turning red.
Yan Beimo assumed she had acquiesced and began kissing her without restraint. His strong arms held her tightly in his embrace, stroking her hair and kissing her fiercely.
He pried open her teeth, his breath fierce and unrestrained, as if releasing something, and kissed her passionately.
The temperature around him rose higher and higher, and he held her tightly in his arms, kissing her. Her warm breath left her no way to escape, and their ambiguous and enchanting breaths intertwined instantly.
Chu Changning was somewhat dazed by his kisses. His kissing skills were skillful and passionate, and he knew her sensitivity well, so the force of his kneading was just right.
She couldn't help but let her chest rise and fall, breathing softly.
Yan Beimo listened to her slightly disordered breathing, supported himself with his hands and lay on top of her, his eyes bloodshot as he looked at her face.
"A-Ning, tell me, are you thinking of me?"
