Chapter 273 Xie Wang's Side Story: I'll Only Marry You

Xie Xuan smiled smugly, leaned close to her ear, and a cool breeze blew in from outside the gauze curtain, causing goosebumps to rise all over her body. Hearing his vulgar words, she couldn't help but tremble and turned around to punch him.

He wasn't annoyed; instead, he laughed even louder, hugged her tightly, and teased her mischievously.

Wang Wan was so captivated by his tenderness that she felt dizzy. Her snow-white skin flushed with desire as she wrapped her arms around his waist, clinging to him desperately, and letting out sweet moans.

Xie Xuan loved her initiative. He lifted her waist and kneaded it, his lips and teeth mingling as he heard her whimper and ask him a question.

Do you miss me?

Yes, of course I think about it; I think about it day and night.

"I want to die on top of you."

The affairs of the Great Yan could not be resolved in a short time. Xie Xuan spent a month reorganizing the old troops of the Great Yan, handed over the matters to the ministers who came to take over, and then took Wang Wan to the far north of the desert.

The sky beyond the Great Wall was a clear blue, and the air was filled with the free wind blowing across the high and distant sky. The two went to the vast glacier and looked at the endless snow-capped peaks.

On the vast ice field, there were crowds of people everywhere. Children playing on the ice shouted happily, and the strong aroma of roasted meat and wine from the foot of the mountain wafted across the plain.

Under the vast white sky, the wings of a divine eagle brushed across the snow-capped mountains and rivers. The statue of the holy goddess, to whom people prayed for blessings, stood in the temple atop the majestic snow-capped peak. A continuous stream of people wanted to climb the ninety-nine heavenly ladders to sprinkle blessings on the temple, but the ladders were narrow and slippery, made of glaciers, and almost no one could climb them.

According to folklore in northern Mongolia, a holy maiden on the snow-capped mountain illuminates all living beings with a divine lamp. Sincere people who climb the heavenly ladder to pray for water at the temple will be protected from disasters and difficulties.

Listening to the laughter and playful sounds of the herdsmen, Xie Xuan took off his protective gear, smiled, hugged her, and kissed her. "I'm going to take a look at the temple."

Wang Wan wasn't very good at ice skating either, so she instinctively grabbed him to steady him. "What if you fall? Don't go."

"Sweetie, play here by yourself for a while, I'll go get you the blessing water."

In the distance, a large number of lights lit up, and a long procession of roller skating boats sailed in. Children chattered and laughed as they skated and surged forward, scattering the surrounding crowd.

Wang Wan was nearly hit by a child and quickly slid to the outer edge, gazing at the goddess statues on Xuefeng Mountain from afar.

The vast light illuminated the entire snow-capped peak, and on the white snowfield, the majestic temple, bathed in the white light, looked like two sacred lamps gazing upon the people of the northern desert.

Looking at the unseen figure, she felt a sudden emptiness in her heart, and leaned on the railing, craning her slender neck to look.

White birds flew across the vast sky, people on the roller skating boats laughed and beat drums, children played stilts in the lively atmosphere, the sun gradually set, the lights on the temple lit up, and the crowd slowly dispersed from the bustling ice field.

The night wind whistled across the icy plains like cold arrows, and Wang Wan shivered with cold, her eyes fixed on the temple atop the snow-capped peak.

She didn't know how much time had passed, but she felt her limbs were about to stiffen when she suddenly heard a loud voice calling out.

Her eyes lit up, and she immediately climbed up the flower tower in the middle of the ice field, panting, to take a look. She saw a red figure on the mountaintop smiling like a fox, holding Zhu Shui's hand and blowing her a passionate kiss.

The howling wind swept past their figures, and on the vast and desolate ice plain, it seemed as if the sweet-white crabapple blossoms were blooming, covering the entire land.

The Qihan Festival in the northern desert was magnificent. They strolled through the streets and alleys, watched the flying apsaras dance, looked at the black market goods of ancient Russia, rode camels across the vast desert, and listened to the diners in the teahouses of the border town tell strange stories from all over the world.

Wang Wan's body gradually became plump and fuller, and her appetite increased. She dragged him around to eat delicious food and even pestered him to try the local spicy noodles. She ate until her eyes were red from the spiciness, and he laughed and gave her goat milk, teasing her that she looked like a rabbit.

The northern frontier is vast and expansive, with murals of eminent monks, and scenes of the Huqin and celestial horses. He took her to see the Buddha Bathing Festival, begged the holy monk to let her sit on a Buddha statue, and even went to the Golden Light Pagoda in Kucha to sprinkle heavy gold to sculpt a Buddha body and build a pagoda for her blessings.

According to legend, the Great Master Luo, with his golden lotus statue, took her to the Vajra Temple to see a high monk, where they practiced vegetarianism and meditation under the sal tree.

The two went to see the grotto murals, the Pure Land of Bliss, and to the Drum Tower to have Sanskrit inscriptions carved. On Elephant Street, where music and dance filled the air, she wore a long crimson dress, a necklace of silver bells on her head, and tiny gold bells on her wrists and ankles. She was bright and flamboyant, pulling him through the crowd to watch the beautiful courtesans dancing on the carved paulownia wood flower platform.

Time flew by, and her health gradually deteriorated. The two stopped going out and having fun. Xie Xuan wanted to take her to the Northern Frontier Royal Court to find Elder Liang, but she refused to go and insisted on going to see the sea.

At the foot of Mount Sumeru lies a boundless sea, surrounded by green mountains and mist, while below the Lingtai Terrace, bustling crowds gather everywhere.

The bright sunlight shone on the sea, and the icy water lapped against the bank. Xie Xuan hugged her from behind, touched her slightly fuller waist, and laughed, "Could it be that you're pregnant?"

Wang Wan blushed as he teased her, and gently patted the back of his hand, saying, "You talk nonsense every day."

He chuckled softly, "In a couple of days, I'll take you to the royal court. We'll take good care of ourselves and then go back to get married, okay?"

He wouldn't be at ease if he couldn't marry her.

Wang Wan felt a pang of sadness, and her eyes welled up with tears. She tried her best to hold them back and joked, "What if you can't marry her?"

Xie Xuan was provoked by her words, grabbed her and turned her around, biting her lip hard. "Even if I die, I will still marry you. If you dare to talk nonsense again, I will make sure you can't get out of bed tonight."

"Oh, I was just talking nonsense. You know my body—"

Before she could finish speaking, he pulled her into a tight embrace and said in a deep voice, "She will be healed."

"What if I only have a few days left to live?"

"If you live for three years, I'll stay with you for three years; if you live for five years, I'll stay with you for five years."

Wang Wan felt a pang of pain in her heart, and tears almost fell. She wrapped her arms around his waist and whispered, "If I die, you must live a good life. Don't be like your second brother."

Xie Xuan was furious inside, but he smiled and retorted, "If you die, I'll marry many beauties and feast and party every day."

A dense, throbbing pain spread through her heart, and the bitterness in her heart was about to boil over. She pounded his chest heavily and shouted, "Marrying one is enough, why marry so many---"

A soaring bird flew across the azure sea, and a distant breeze carried the damp air. His loud reply seemed to travel through the dusty years, coming from another world, striking her heart heavily.

"Then marry me, and I'll only marry you."
