Shuangyue, accompanied by several palace maids, went to serve in the inner palace.
Yan Beimo went to the outer hall to wait. He sat at the imperial table, took down the booklet, and flipped through it casually.
There was a thick stack of folk storybooks on top, and a medical book at the bottom, which was a gift from Old Liang to Ayu.
He picked it up casually and opened it to take a look.
Inner Temple.
Chu Changning changed into her phoenix robe and sat in front of her dressing table, letting the palace maids apply makeup to her.
Shuangyue looked at the reflection of the person in the bronze mirror and couldn't help but exclaim in amazement.
The Empress's beauty wasn't the kind that was stunning at first glance, but rather a pure and ethereal beauty, as if there was a bright moon between her brows and a beautiful flower in her eyes. She usually wore blue dresses, like a snow lotus under the hazy moonlight.
Today, she put on this phoenix robe, her eyebrows were painted with fine ink, and her small face was fair and delicate. Her willow-leaf eyes were slightly upturned and charming, making it impossible for anyone to look away.
When Chu Changning came out after changing her clothes, she saw Yan Beimo sitting at the imperial table, flipping through a medical book with an indifferent expression.
She saw the medical scroll in his hand, narrowed her eyes, and called out.
"His Majesty."
Yan Beimo glanced sideways and looked over.
Shuangyue, with her keen eye, led the palace maid away.
He stared intently at her, and Chu Changning trembled slightly under his direct gaze as she slowly walked towards him.
Her black hair was tied up, and she wore a gold and beaded phoenix crown. She was dressed in an elaborate phoenix robe with outstretched wings, and the long skirt spread out behind her, as beautiful as a lotus flower, swaying gracefully.
The palace doors were closed, and the palace lanterns beside her shone on her face. Golden tassels hung from the ends of her hair, further highlighting her gentle and graceful demeanor.
Seeing that he remained silent, Chu Changning smiled slightly and reached out to take his hand.
"My husband."
Yan Beimo lowered his eyes, grabbed her and pulled her onto his lap, staring intently at her.
Chu Changning sat on his lap, her arms around his neck, and smiled gently, raising an eyebrow.
"Is it beautiful, Your Majesty?"
He simply grunted in response, pressed her down in front of the imperial table, and tore at her undergarments.
Chu Changning was slightly startled and turned around to grab his hand.
"This is a phoenix robe, it was torn and not replaced."
Yan Beimo leaned down and kissed her, "No."
He didn't actually tear it; he just opened up all the outer clothes and wrapped them loosely around her.
Chu Changning glanced at the torn undergarment on the ground, then angrily raised her eyes and glared back at him.
"Can you please stop doing this?"
Her eyes were moist, and when she looked back at me with her eyes flushed and rosy from the kiss, she seemed to be seducing me rather than threatening me.
Yan Beimo grabbed her flailing hands and leaned down to pin her down.
"I think you like it quite a bit."
"----"
Before Chu Changning could say anything more, he leaned down and kissed her.
This position wasn't suitable for kissing, so Yan Beimo simply turned her around, held her on the table, and gazed into her eyes.
Her phoenix robe was loose and baggy, unable to conceal the beauty beneath, making her look even more alluring than when she was dressed formally.
Yan Beimo glanced at her, then pressed her head down and kissed her repeatedly.
Chu Changning trembled all over from his kiss and unconsciously wrapped her arms around his waist in response.
Their breaths instantly mingled.
The moonlight outside the window was rich and dense, and the light and shadows that leaked through the vermilion window cast a hazy, shimmering glow inside the palace.
The entire hall was filled with an enchanting atmosphere, and the two people's breaths intertwined.
Chu Changning's slender fingers traced his outline and brow bone, and the image of him overlapped in her mind when they first met.
Her palm trembled suddenly, and she withdrew her hand.
Yan Beimo noticed her change, held the back of her head and kissed her, their lips and teeth lingering.
She suddenly felt weak all over, her consciousness gradually blurred, and her mind let itself go, feeling the heat of his lips.
She bent over and called his name softly.
"You called it the wrong name."
His deep, husky voice seemed to come from hell, leading her astray.
Chu Changning's eyes were dazed by his kiss, and her eyes glistened with tears.
She gripped his clothes tightly.
"I am your husband, the world and I belong to you, Aning, right?"
She was surrounded by overlapping sounds.
Chu Changning felt a surge of emotion and couldn't help but push him away.
He remained unmoved, holding her tightly, whispering in her ear again and again, as if trying to nail it into her heart and engrave it in her mind.
Am I your husband?
"Yan--Yan Beimo---"
"explain!"
Chu Changning's lips hurt from his bite, and she struggled dazedly.
"Chu Changning, speak."
Her breath was weak, and she responded in a low voice, "Yes~"
As soon as she finished speaking, he picked her up in his arms.
Sounds rang out from inside the hall from time to time, including waves of red and melodious cries.
Moonlight bathed the entire palace garden. Outside Xuanming Hall, little Ayu secretly came out of the warm pavilion. He leaned on a red pillar and walked towards the main hall.
He usually stayed in the emperor's palace during the day. His dark eyes looked around and seemed to feel quite familiar, so he continued walking forward.
He was walking very slowly and not very steadily.
The maidservant had only gone to pour some tea, and when she returned, she found that the young prince was gone, so she hurriedly chased after him.
The voices startled Ayu. He stood at the entrance of the palace and was about to turn around when he found a tall figure blocking his view.
He strained to lift his head and get a clear look at Night Hawk's face.
Night Hawk automatically blocked out the sounds inside, stiffly picked him up with both hands, and coaxed him in a low voice.
"Your Highness, be good and go back to sleep."
When the old women caught up, they saw this bizarre scene: the usually cold and aloof commander had such an expression.
Night Hawk paused, startled by their stares, and quickly composed himself before handing the person over.
"Send His Highness back."
Unexpectedly, Ayu refused, arching her little body to try and pry open the door, making babbling sounds as if she were calling for her mother.
Although the commotion was low, it still alerted Yan Beimo inside.
He carried the woman with flushed cheeks beneath him into the inner chamber, covered her with a quilt, draped a cloak over his shoulders, and walked out.
The door suddenly opened from the inside, and the person standing outside immediately bowed and knelt down.
"Greetings, Your Majesty."
Yan Beimo glanced at his son, who had a pair of bright, dark eyes, and raised an eyebrow.
What are you doing here?
Ayu couldn't understand what he was saying. She looked up at him with her little face and tried to climb into his leg with her little hands.
Yan Beimo snorted coldly and picked him up in one go.
He looked at Night Hawk and said calmly, "Go and prepare for our trip to Xin Palace tomorrow."
"Yes." Night Hawk handed over the medicine from his arms. "This medicine was prescribed by the Imperial Medical Academy. Your Majesty, please take it first."
Yan Beimo took the child and carried him into the inner hall.
Ever since Ayu slept with Chu Changning, she has refused to sleep alone. Whenever she sees her sweet and soft mother in the palace, she sticks out her little bottom and tries to hug her.
Yan Beimo gave him a warning look, "Behave yourself."
