Chapter 169 You've Never Came to See Me

The Cold Palace was located in a remote, desolate, and gloomy place, surrounded by darkness and silence, without a trace of light.

The moonlight enveloped the quiet palace, casting a soft glow.

Chu Changning came out of the inner hall, sat on the veranda, and stared blankly at the moon overhead.

It had just rained, and the pond in the garden was overflowing with water, emitting a strange, foul odor.

She snapped out of her reverie, paused for a moment, and then walked down the stone steps toward the pond.

The Cold Palace was desolate and bleak, with no palace lanterns hanging around it.

She could only glance at it casually by the moonlight, which reflected her thin face. The closer she got, the stronger the scent became.

Chu Changning covered his nose, looked around, and found a stick.

Not knowing how long she would be confined in this cold palace, after her health gradually improved, she asked the little palace maid for tools and spent the day clearing the weeds in the garden and tidying up the palace.

She had never touched this pond; it was truly stinky.

She picked up a stick and stirred the water, but there was nothing there, just emptiness. Only the sound of rushing water echoed in the garden, creating a truly eerie feeling.

Yan Beimo sat diagonally on the eaves, looking down at the person stirring the water by the pond, and spoke.

"What are you doing?"

Chu Changning was startled by the sudden sound. When he looked up, he saw the person on the eaves of the palace.

Under the moonlight, he sat casually in a white robe, the moonlight above him hazy and enveloping him, as if a layer of cold light had been cast over him.

The air around us seemed to freeze.

The two looked at each other, but neither spoke.

Chu Changning was the first to regain his senses, released the stick in his hand, and turned to go into the hall.

Yan Beimo's heart sank. Looking at her back, he didn't think of anything and leaped down to block her path.

She paused, then looked up.

What brings His Majesty here?

Today is the fifteenth.

The fifteenth? The day originally scheduled for the empress's coronation ceremony, Chu Changning remained silent with an indifferent expression and her head bowed.

Seeing that she remained unmoved, Yan Beimo added, "I was unconscious for seven days."

"And then, what does Your Majesty wish to say?"

"You've never come to see me even once."

His tone was calm, but you could still hear the grievance in his voice.

Chu Changning's eyes reddened slightly as he sneered, "I wouldn't dare. Stepping out of the abandoned palace, I'm afraid I'd be torn to pieces."

"Is it that you dare not, or that you don't want to?"

Is there a difference?

Yan Beimo was choked by her words, and in his anger, he tore at the wound on his shoulder. He tried his best to suppress his surging emotions and spoke sarcastically.

"Your death is exactly what you wanted, isn't it?"

Chu Changning turned to leave, but his wrist was grabbed by him.

His bony fingers gripped her slender wrist, their pulses pulsating and intertwined.

She raised her eyes. "I have already made it clear to His Majesty what I want. If His Majesty cannot give it to me, then please do not come again."

Nothing could stir her emotions; even if he died in front of her, she wouldn't feel any pain. So what did he have to worry about?

"As for A-Yu, I hope Your Majesty will not implicate him because of me. After all, he is also Your Majesty's son---"

"He's dead."

Chu Changning was taken aback and stared at him intently.

Yan Beimo watched her emotional fluctuations and sneered, "You only care about him."

Chu Changning was momentarily stunned and repeated, "What did you say? Ayu---"

Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly picked her up, pinned her against a tree behind him, and leaned down to kiss her.

Ah Yu, Ah Yu is dead?

Could it be that he was attacked by his enemy that day?

The more Chu Changning thought about it, the more frightened she became. A sense of powerless panic welled up in her heart, and tears involuntarily streamed down her face as she struggled to ask him a question.

Dissatisfied with her struggle, Yan Beimo kissed the tears on her cheeks again, kissing her even more fiercely.

What does it matter if you dislike him or hate him? It's better than having nothing at all.

She could only writhe and submit to his pleasure beneath her.

It can only be his!

Chu Changning was held tightly by him and kissed him. She was so angry that she punched and kicked him, but he remained unmoved, holding her tightly and kissing her passionately against the tree.

After Yan Beimo pulled her into his arms, he noticed that she was much lighter, not as slender and graceful as before. He held her tightly and kissed her deeply and urgently.

It had just rained, and puddles had formed on the steps. Water droplets clung to the trees. He swung his fist forcefully, causing the branches to sway and droplets of coolness to fall, trickling down his clothes and into his undershirt.

Chu Changning shivered from the cold. Ever since the imperial physician stopped suppressing the poison, the pain of the poison had made her body increasingly ill, and she no longer had the strength to push him away.

She smelled the bitter medicinal scent emanating from him, and when she looked down at the damp bloodstains on his chest, her eyes glazed over.

Yan Beimo noticed her change, withdrew from her mouth, and lowered his eyes to look at her.

The moonlight was desolate, and the silvery light flowed over the two of them. Their breaths mingled, and tears welled up in her eyes.

His eyes suddenly darkened, and he sealed her lips with his own, his tongue probing inside, greedily and passionately kissing her.

Chu Changning's mind was filled with the image of Ayu's obedient nature, so he remained still and let him go crazy.

Her son is not even a year old yet.

A deep, throbbing pain coursed through her heart, and she closed her eyes.

Their warm breaths mingled as he followed her chin and buried his face in the crook of her neck, sucking.

Suppressing her pain, Chu Changning asked him in a low voice, "Where is Ayu?"

She only had eyes for him; apart from her son, she didn't care about anyone else.

Yan Beimo ignored her, his strong, muscular forearms tightly encircling her, kissing her passionately.

"Yan Beimo, I'm asking you, where is your son---"

Her voice was hoarse, and his fingers touched the corners of her eyes, which were moist.

Yan Beimo didn't move again, holding her tightly and burying his face in her neck, greedily inhaling her scent.

"say!"

"You don't care about anyone but him, right?"

Chu Changning didn't want to pay attention to his crazy ramblings. She glanced at his wounds, which had reopened because of her struggles and pounding, and wearily pushed him away.

"Put me down."

Yan Beimo could clearly see the disgust in her eyes. He curled his lips into a sinister smile, pinched her face, and forced her to look directly at him.

"Hate me?"

Chu Changning gritted his teeth, "I wish I could stab you in the heart that day."

"Then what are you hesitating for? I've given you a chance, what are you hesitating for?!"

He suddenly flew into a rage, picked her up, and strode into the hall.

Chu Changning was so angry at him that she felt tightness in her chest and shortness of breath, and she kicked her legs.

"Put me down."

"If you won't let go, then you'll see how you moan beneath me."

"Yan Beimo!"

She shouted angrily, but he threw her onto the couch.

His heavy body pressed down on her, and she slapped him across the face in anger.

"roll."

In her entire life, she gave all her slaps to Yan Beimo.

Yan Beimo's head was turned to the side by her blow. He licked the blood from the corner of his lips and gave a sinister smile.

He bent down and lifted her up in one swift motion. "How many times have you hit me?"

Chu Changning kept his eyes closed and remained motionless.

"I have heard that the leader of the Imperial Guard is named Xiao Yan, who is hiding in Jiankang and Chaoge, searching for you everywhere."

As he spoke, he ruthlessly tore off her dress.

"The Linwei have less than two thousand men left. If we kill one a day, they won't live for many more years."

Chu Changning suddenly opened her eyes and stared at him.

Yan Beimo looked at her and suddenly laughed out loud. His voice was deep and his laughter was like jade striking each other, carrying the natural aura of a superior.

He leaned down and bit her earlobe, making a low sound.

“Ah Ning, I’ll teach you another lesson today.” He paused. “Don’t easily expose your weaknesses.”
