A flock of vultures flew across the vast and desolate sky, and a gentle breeze stirred up the fine snow, unable to conceal the white expanse.
Chu Changning froze, then looked up in a panic. A whistling wind whipped up a flurry of snowflakes, and a man in a red fur coat rode slowly toward her across the icy river.
Sparse snowflakes fell on her face, and she finally saw the man in the snowstorm. Her eyes slowly turned cold, and she stood up.
The world instantly became desolate and vast. The wind swept across the snowfield, and only faint breathing could be heard.
Helian Ye looked at the woman in white standing on the snowfield, slowly rode his horse to her side, and lowered his eyes.
"Ah Wan, it's been a long time."
Yes, it has been a long time. It's been almost three years since we parted ways in the Tianshan Mountains of northern Xinjiang.
Chu Changning looked at the vast white snowfield and sneered, "Long time no see, Helian Ye."
Helian Ye looked down at her indifferent face, lightly patted the snowflakes off his clothes, raised an eyebrow and smiled, "You want to kill me?"
The white blades at the cuffs gleamed blindingly, and the cold wind blew past her hem, seeping into her body wrapped in fox fur, making it feel icy cold as if devoid of warmth.
A flash of white light streaked past, and a fierce killing intent flashed before his eyes. He swiftly dodged, grabbed her cold, thin hand, and leaned down to stare at her intently.
Their eyes met, a cold wind brushed their cheeks, and snowflakes danced in the air, blurring their vision.
Chu Changning's eyes hardened, and using his strength, she leaped into the air, another knife flying out from her sleeve and stabbing directly into his heart.
Instead of getting angry, Helian Ye laughed, leaped into the air, and spoke in a proud and clear voice.
"Awan, if you can kill me today, I will spare Daqi."
With his ambition for power and dominance about to be realized, how could he possibly let go?
Chu Changning swept his sword across his chest, his small face tense, not uttering a word, his attacks ruthless, each move aimed at killing him.
On the desolate and lonely land, fine snow meandered across the entire snowfield. On the frozen Lichuan River, two fighting figures made a sound as they tore through the air.
The war eagles swooping down from the sky let out loud, high-pitched cries, and the stark contrast in strength and skill made the fight between the two exceptionally bizarre.
Chu Changning is skilled in close combat, and his moves are ruthless and merciless.
But the person opposite her seemed to take her completely indifferent, as if they were toying with her, like an eagle in the vast sky playing with its prey, watching her gradually crumble and despair, before locking her in its cage and slowly consuming her.
The weak prey cannot withstand the giant eagle in the sky. In the struggle against fate, its wings and back will bend little by little. But she is not the prey, and she will not live a life of humiliation under the eagle's wings.
With a "whoosh," the blinding white light burned his eyes. Helian Ye raised an eyebrow, gathered his strength, and leaped behind her, grabbing her shoulder blade.
Chu Changning instantly bent over and rolled away, then turned around and stabbed with his knife.
But the man was incredibly fast, without any fancy tricks, just clean and efficient. She gripped her dagger and slashed at him horizontally. He didn't use any weapon either, and they fought each other in close combat.
A cold wind whistled between them, and swirling snowflakes swept through the wind, enveloping the two figures on the snowfield.
A deathly silence reigned all around. The two exchanged dozens of blows, their attacks swift and ruthless. The knife in her hand whistled in the cold wind, fluttering fiercely.
Helian Ye laughed, "His martial arts have improved a lot since then."
Chu Changning was furious at his laughter and became even more ruthless in his attacks. Before he could catch his breath, Chu Changning delivered a powerful spinning kick that struck him there.
He didn't care at all. With a whoosh, the two figures fell entangled on the snowfield.
Her eyes suddenly changed, and taking advantage of his momentary distraction, she stabbed the knife in her hand into his chest.
As the killing intent surged, he swiftly dodged backward, the blade slicing across his arm, warm blood splattering onto her face.
Seeing that she had gone all out, he narrowed his eyes, his fingers tightened, and a powerful surge of internal energy struck the surrounding vultures, causing them to vomit blood and fall to the ground.
Chu Changning clutched his chest and stepped back, his eyes filled with unyielding resentment and murderous intent.
He snorted coldly and his figure moved towards her with ghostly speed, so fast that it was like a blur and he couldn't see it at all.
The knife hilt clattered to the ground, and warm hands wrapped around her arms behind her back, her neck suddenly gripped tightly.
On the vast white earth, the red and white figures stood out starkly against the desolate ice plains.
Chu Changning was tightly restrained by him, his cold hands gripping her neck, his warm breath brushing against her ear, causing her eyes to redden.
"He really wants to kill me for him---"
Her eyes were wide open, her reddened eye sockets dry and cold. The blinding golden light shone on the bright red blood on her face, making her face look even more bewitching.
“You killed my husband and slaughtered my soldiers of Qi. Why can’t I kill you, Helian Ye? We are enemies now.”
"Husband? Enemy?" With her back pressed against his chest, she could feel the deep, muffled laughter emanating from his chest. "Then I might as well slaughter the people of Daqi and massacre your city."
The thin rays of sunlight shone on the shimmering ice of the river, and the cold wind blew through their robes, stirring up gusts of snow.
Chu Changning's eyes were red, and he remained silent.
Helian Ye lowered his eyes and stared at her for a few moments before slowly releasing his grip on her throat.
She tried to dodge in an instant, but suddenly he grabbed the back of her neck and pushed her forward until they reached a spot on the glacier.
"See that? Here, right here—" He pressed his face close to hers, a half-smile playing on his lips, "He died right here—"
"Thousands of arrows pierced his heart, icy blades tore through his flesh, and bottomless icy water swallowed his body. His remains had long been devoured by the wild beasts at the bottom of the Lichuan River. In such cold snow and water, his bones should have been frozen stiff and his flesh should have rotted away---"
"Shut up!"
She instantly lost all color in her body, her eyes red with anger as she pushed him and cursed him.
He wouldn't let go, holding her tightly, and cruelly whispered each word of his warning in her ear.
"Even if he were standing right in front of you, you wouldn't recognize him, Chu Changning. Even if you cry yourself blind, he still won't come back to life."
The sinister and venomous voice pierced her heart like a knife, and the angry roar spread across the entire snowfield. The mournful howl, mixed with the gale, blew into their hearts, causing them to feel pain so intense that they almost lost all sensation.
"He's dead, dead--"
"Get out of here, get out of here---Helian Ye, get out of here--"
He looked at the tears in her eyes, laughed loudly, grabbed her and made her kneel on the ground, pointed at the cold river, and roared angrily.
“Look closely, right here, right here. I stabbed him with my own hands and watched him die. Did you hear that? I watched him die with my own eyes. He can’t live.”
Suddenly, a sharp cracking sound rang out, particularly jarring on the vast and desolate land.
Chu Changning's eyes were filled with tears. She pushed him away, her heart filled with hatred and murderous intent. With red eyes, she roared angrily, "One day, the iron cavalry of the Great Qi will trample the cities of the Western Regions, and I will kill you with my own hands."
