Chapter 118 It's over, it's over, I'm trapped!
On the wedding day, Jiang Qingying occasionally took photos with the bride, Lin Tingwan, and sometimes strolled around the garden outside the hotel before returning to her room to rest.
The day passed quickly, and before we knew it, it was time for dinner.
Jiang Qingying sat on the table, watching Lin Tingwan, dressed in a pure white wedding gown, enter the stage to the accompaniment of soft music, with white rose petals scattered on both sides of the long corridor-like stage.
As she watched, she began to lose control of her emotions, tears welling up in her eyes. She covered her mouth and sobbed softly.
Lu Jinyuan kept a close eye on her. Seeing her so moved, he smiled indulgently and whispered in her ear, "Don't get so excited. If you get so excited that the baby comes out, it will really steal the show."
Jiang Qingying glared at him and muttered a curse, telling him to get lost.
Lu Jinyuan patted her back and coaxed her gently, "Don't cry, eat something. Weren't you just saying you were hungry?"
Jiang Qingying sniffed and saw that the oath was about to be taken on stage. She ordered Lu Jinyuan, "Peel the shrimp for me first, I'll watch for a while longer."
"Okay, I'll peel it for you."
When Lin Tingwan and Song Mingxu reached the point of exchanging rings, Jiang Qingying, watching this beautiful scene, suddenly remembered something.
He asked Lu Jinyuan, "What were you thinking when we exchanged rings?"
Lu Jinyuan peeled a few shrimp and put them on her plate, asking, "Is that enough?"
Jiang Qingying nodded. "That's enough."
Lu Jinyuan wiped his hands and said calmly, "At the time, I was thinking, I've finally managed to trick you into my hands."
Jiang Qingying's lips curled down, her expression showing obvious disdain.
"Just kidding." Lu Jinyuan chuckled. "I wasn't thinking about anything at the time, I was just too nervous."
Jiang Qingying recalled that she didn't seem to notice how nervous Lu Jinyuan was at the time, but he was the type of person who didn't show his emotions on his face, so it was normal to overlook it.
"Do you know what I was thinking at the time?"
"What are you thinking about?"
Jiang Qingying's dark fox-like eyes blinked, deliberately keeping him in suspense.
Lu Jinyuan also looked at her, without moving or in a hurry.
Jiang Qingying couldn't hold back any longer and blurted out, "I'm thinking, oh no, I'm doomed, I'm going to be trapped by you."
Lu Jinyuan narrowed his eyes and questioned her, "Why do you still look a little unwilling?"
"A little," Jiang Qingying said proudly. "After all, I'm so good, and you've made a profit by marrying me, but I still feel like I've lost out a bit."
“Where did you lose out? Have you forgotten that project you extorted from me before we got married? We’ve made several times our initial investment this year.” Lu Jinyuan discussed with her, but there was one thing he couldn’t deny: “You are indeed very good, and I’ve also made a fortune.”
Jiang Qingying did not accept his explanation and continued to shake her head desperately.
Lu Jinyuan found out; she had a request.
"Speak, what is it?"
Jiang Qingying chuckled twice, "That's right, didn't I look up Ning Xi online last night?"
"Hmm, and then what?"
"Well, their group has a commercial performance in a couple of days, and I was thinking..."
"no."
Jiang Qingying was interrupted before she could finish speaking. She stared at him silently, expressing her dissatisfaction.
"After you give birth," Lu Jinyuan coaxed patiently. "After you give birth, you can go to see any performance you want."
Jiang Qingying: "You're just making empty promises to me."
"No, I always keep my word."
"But I really want to go, I'm so bored staying at home."
"The sound system at the performance venue is very loud, and there are many people. It's not safe."
Lu Jinyuan remained firm, his expression serious.
Jiang Qingying wasn't one to have a good temper either. Seeing his sour face, she got angry too and turned her face away, ignoring him.
She glanced at the shrimp he had just peeled on the plate, thought for a moment, then picked up her fork and forcefully stabbed the shrimp, as if the shrimp on the plate were her enemy, and chewed them fiercely, each bite a venting of her anger.
Lu Jinyuan witnessed this scene, but helplessly, he still couldn't convince himself to give in.
"Don't be angry anymore, okay?"
"I'm not angry."
The response was curt; he didn't even glance at the other person.
It's normal for Jiang Qingying to get irritable during her pregnancy. Usually, it's nothing serious; she's just feeling unwell and a little annoyed with people and things. Lu Jinyuan can coax her a bit, and the matter will pass.
But today's events were a bit serious. No matter what Lu Jinyuan said, Jiang Qingying was not satisfied. Until the wedding banquet ended, Jiang Qingying didn't even look at Lu Jinyuan once.
On the drive home, with no one else in the cramped car, Lu Jinyuan finally found an opportunity to get a little closer to Jiang Qingying.
No matter how close he got, Jiang Qingying would hide as far away as possible, until she reached the car door, where there was nowhere else to hide.
Jiang Qingying, unable to bear it any longer, pushed his shoulder, "Move over a bit, you're squeezing me."
"No." Lu Jinyuan opened his arms and pulled the person into his embrace. "Then I'll carry you here so it won't be crowded."
"It's hot," Jiang Qingying still complained.
Lu Jinyuan stopped moving, his hand still holding hers, but his eyes were fixed on her face.
Jiang Qingying met his eyes and instinctively looked away.
The atmosphere froze.
"What's wrong?" Lu Jinyuan asked.
Jiang Qingying murmured, her red lips barely moving, "It's nothing."
“You don’t actually need to go to any performance, right?” Lu Jinyuan said. “You have a problem, a psychological one. What are you thinking, or is there anything encouraging you can tell me?”
Jiang Qingying lowered her eyes and remained silent.
Lu Jinyuan knew that Jiang Qingying was not the type to make a fuss unreasonably, especially when it came to matters of principle. She would never disregard the safety of the child in her womb to insure someone.
"It's nothing really." Jiang Qingying remained silent for a long time before speaking, her aggrieved eyes glistening with tears. Then, suppressing her emotions, she turned her head to the side.
“I’m always being watched over, by you, by Mom, and even by Dad. If I move around or walk a few steps around the house, I get questioned. You always think this is unsafe or that is dangerous. I know you’re worried about me and it’s for my own good, but I’m really getting annoyed.”
"Most importantly, I understand that the company doesn't let me get involved in many things. But if I can't go to this place or do this job, I just feel like a useless person."
Jiang Qingying was used to being independent and strong. In her circle of friends and family, she was often the central pillar. Suddenly, she became the focus of attention, with all eyes on her at all times. She felt pressured and somewhat powerless.
"And the closer it gets to delivery, the more nervous you all become..." Jiang Qingying frowned, looking down at her belly. "I'm nervous too, okay? I'm afraid that if something unexpected happens, something might happen to the baby, or I..."
Upon hearing this, Lu Jinyuan immediately touched her lips with his palm to interrupt her: "Alright, that's enough."
Jiang Qingying is dejected.
Lu Jinyuan gently rubbed her head, then let her lean on his shoulder. He pressed his thin lips to her forehead and coaxed her softly, "I know now. It turns out that our excessive concern caused you stress and psychological problems. I'm sorry, I didn't expect it to be like this."
“I know you’re all so worried because you love me,” Jiang Qingying said. “I just hope you can relax a little. I’m really fine, nothing’s wrong with me. Pregnancy and childbirth, although it’s like having one foot in the grave, is normal and something that’s determined by fate. There’s no use worrying or being anxious.”
"Yes, you're right." Lu Jinyuan looked down at her and smiled slightly. "I'll talk to my parents about this. As for the show, I probably still can't agree to it. I hope you can understand."
"I know, I don't necessarily want to travel around, I just want to prove that I'm really fine, and I don't want you to worry." Jiang Qingying sighed softly, "Actually, I'd rather stay at home, after all, it's safe."
“Or we could organize some activities at home to keep you from getting so bored. I’ll think of something.” Lu Jinyuan stroked her cheek with his fingertips, his gaze falling on her red lips, and said affectionately, “Give me a kiss.”
Jiang Qingying finally smiled, tilted her head back and gave him a light kiss, "I'm a little sleepy, I want to sleep for a while."
Lu Jinyuan: "Go to sleep."
