Chapter 133 Mini-Theater + Author's Note
1.
Lin Tingwan's son was born.
Jiang Qingying took two-year-old Lu Jiaqing to visit. Lu Jiaqing was still very young, and even pulling on the crib next to her was not enough for her, so she hurriedly tugged at her father's pants.
"Dad, little brother... little brother."
Lu Jinyuan was somewhat displeased because she had previously heard Jiang Qingying mention that they were planning to arrange a marriage between their children. Upon hearing this, Lu Jinyuan immediately objected, "What marriage? Qingqing is only two years old."
Jiang Qingying thought he was too excited, and suppressed a laugh as she said, "It was just a joke. Maybe the two children really are destined to be together."
Lu Jinyuan looked like he was saying, "Stop talking, I just can't listen to anything anymore."
"Dad, little brother...look..."
His children's voices brought him back to his senses. Lu Jinyuan looked down at the beautiful little girl in the white princess dress, feeling extremely reluctant, and bent down to pick her up.
"Okay, here's your little brother."
Lu Jiaqing chuckled twice, but when she turned her head and saw her younger brother in the crib, her smile froze.
Seeing her daughter's hesitant expression, Jiang Qingying couldn't help but laugh and ask, "Sweetie, what's wrong?"
Lu Jiaqing pointed at her younger brother with her little finger, wanting to say so much, but unable to find the right words to describe him. "My brother... isn't pretty."
Jiang Qingying: "......"
This was probably the happiest Lu Jinyuan had smiled in the past few days.
Lin Tingwan heard this and felt like crying. She was so beautiful and her husband was so handsome, how could she have given birth to an ugly baby?
She hugged her husband and cried, "It's all over, it's all over, your son is too ugly, he's made your daughter-in-law disappear."
Song Mingxu's head was bigger than two heads. Although he also felt that his son wasn't very good-looking, he first comforted his wife, "It's okay. Newborns aren't very good-looking. They'll grow up nicely."
At this point, Lu Jinyuan added fuel to the fire.
"My daughter was beautiful when she was born."
The boasting was too obvious. Song Mingxu glared at the man who was obsessed with showing off his daughter and threatened him: "President Lu, you'd better keep a close eye on your daughter."
2.
When Lu Jiaqing was four years old, it was summer vacation. In previous years, she would spend the summer with her maternal grandparents at the Jiang family home. However, this year they went on a trip abroad for more than a month, so Lu Jiaqing's trip became a problem.
One night before summer vacation, the three of them held an emergency family meeting in the living room.
"How about we sign up for a summer camp?" Jiang Qingying suggested.
Lu Jiaqing's face fell. "Mom, I don't want to go."
Jiang Qingying was also a little troubled, "Then what should we do? Mom and Dad both have to work and don't have time to spend with you."
“I can stay home by myself,” Lu Jiaqing insisted.
"No." Lu Jinyuan adopted a stern demeanor.
Lu Jiaqing: "I have a housekeeper, Aunt Mei, and many servants at home, so I'm not afraid."
Lu Jinyuan refused to back down, "That won't do either, Dad won't feel at ease."
Jiang Qingying patted her daughter's head and said gently, "Qingqing, tomorrow Mom will take you to a trial class at an institution or school. Maybe there will be an interest class that you like. You can also meet a lot of other children there and play with them. It will definitely be more interesting than staying at home alone."
Lu Jiaqing pouted, "What if all the classes are ones I don't like? Mom, what child likes going to school? There's only one summer vacation a year, and I still have to study. Why am I so unlucky!"
Jiang Qingying & Lu Jinyuan: "......"
"Or, I can go to my godmother's house and play with my little brother there."
Lu Jiaqing has two godmothers, one is Nan Chun and the other is Lin Tingwan. When she said she had a younger brother, she was referring to her godmother Lin Tingwan.
Jiang Qingying thought it was a good choice, but Lu Jinyuan was not happy about it.
“No, it’s not good to bother others every day,” Lu Jinyuan said.
Lu Jiaqing: "Godmother is no stranger."
Lu Jinyuan said earnestly, "Your godmother is not your biological mother after all. You can't keep troubling her, Qingqing, do you understand?"
Lu Jiaqing: "Oh—"
They discussed the issue of where Lu Jiaqing would spend her summer vacation for a long time without reaching a conclusion.
The next day, Jiang Qingying took her to an educational institution to choose extracurricular classes. She attended quite a few trial classes, but Lu Jiaqing didn't like any of them. Jiang Qingying couldn't force her to choose a few, so after some deliberation, Lu Jiaqing chose a morning hosting class.
The problem was solved in the morning, but there's still no resolution in the afternoon.
Lu Jiaqing took the initiative to suggest that she go to work with her parents.
Jiang Qingying and Lu Jinyuan looked at each other in bewilderment.
Lu Jinyuan said tactfully, "There's not much difference between Qingqing going to the company and staying at home; she'll probably still be bored."
Lu Jiaqing blinked. "It's not boring. Qingqing is willing to stay with Mom and Dad."
The girl's innocent words silenced her parents. Lu Jiaqing, being a bit clever, immediately used reverse psychology, "Then why don't I go to my godmother's house to keep my brother company?"
Lu Jinyuan: "Let's go to Dad's company!"
Jiang Qingying couldn't help but laugh so hard she almost fell over. No one knows a father better than his daughter.
3.
Lu Jiaqing spent the entire summer vacation attending extracurricular classes in the mornings and alternating between working at her parents' company in the afternoons. She was more like a combination of Lu Jinyuan and Jiang Qingying; she was highly intelligent, aloof, and would only politely greet strangers without giving them a second glance.
At the company, she sat in the office with her parents. Employees who came in to report would glance at her, but she showed no fear. Instead, she remained calm and composed like her parents. The employees who came in almost had the illusion that they were there to give a work report to this little girl.
She also loved attending meetings with her parents, the kind that lasted one or two hours. She would sit on a small stool next to them, and although she didn't understand much of the meeting content, her memory was astonishing.
After the meeting, Lu Jinyuan asked her, "Did you understand? Why were you listening so attentively?"
Lu Jiaqing opened her big, round eyes and shook her head: "I don't understand, but I've absorbed it into my head."
Then she repeated what she had said at the meeting. She didn't finish the whole thing, but she could remember most of the rest, except for the technical terms.
When they rested that evening, Lu Jinyuan told Jiang Qingying about what had happened that day.
Jiang Qingying looked shocked. "Your daughter is amazing. She might be a business prodigy in the future."
Lu Jinyuan pursed his lips, "I actually don't want her to be involved in this kind of thing too much. My only expectation for her is that she live happily."
Jiang Qingying: "But if it's her own choice, there's nothing you can do to stop her."
Lu Jinyuan nodded, "Of course."
Jiang Qingying recalled taking her to an educational institution to choose courses and laughed, "When your daughter was trying out classes, I suggested she try dance, painting, and singing, but she didn't choose any of them. She only chose a small hosting class to improve her public speaking skills. Her public speaking skills are already good enough, and she still wants to improve them. I'm afraid that neither of us will be able to out-argue her in the future."
“I’m already defeated by her.” Lu Jinyuan said helplessly, “Whenever she mentions my younger brother to pressure me, I have no choice but to agree to whatever she says.”
"You're completely under her thumb." Jiang Qingying said, exasperated.
Lu Jinyuan sighed seriously, hugged her, and lamented, "What am I going to do? I'm completely at their mercy for the rest of my life."
Jiang Qingying glanced at him, "You're not happy about it?"
“No, that’s not it.” Lu Jinyuan kissed her. “I’d be happy to do it.”
4. Writing
This concludes the story for this book! Thank you all for reading, and thank you to all the readers who have consistently followed the updates on time every day. Thank you for your hard work!
Actually, this book took a long time to write. I was always worried about whether I could write it well. I even felt discouraged at one point when I was writing it, but thankfully I persevered and finished it.
The biggest challenge in writing this book wasn't about an engineering student writing a business war story, but rather the middle section about "love." In some ways, I'm very similar to Lu Jinyuan. Although I'm a romance author, I'm emotionally detached in real life, and I don't really understand what love is. I've never truly loved anyone, nor have I ever been deeply loved by anyone. So, I thought about it for a very long time while writing. I was afraid my ideas would be too one-sided or too general, failing to resonate with readers. I hope the final product won't make you feel like I've messed it up.
Looking back now, overall, this is probably the best book I've ever written, even though the results were rather dismal. But that's life; there are always regrets and things not going as planned. Perhaps it really is just a matter of insufficient writing skill and limited ability. I'll keep trying!
