Chapter 49 Who Let Him Bully Her Husband?

Chapter 49 Who Let Him Bully Her Husband?

The heavy snow had just stopped in the early morning.

Jiang Qingying got up, still feeling tired from the morning. The first thing she did was find her phone to send a message to Zhou Yu. After finishing her work, she washed up and went downstairs for breakfast.

Seeing Aunt Mei preparing breakfast in the kitchen, she called out to her, "Good morning, Aunt Mei."

Aunt May, carrying a tray, smiled and said, "Good morning, Madam. Breakfast is ready."

Jiang Qingying nodded, glanced around, and couldn't find any familiar faces. Aunt Mei noticed and immediately explained, "The master seemed to have something urgent to attend to this morning, so he ate and left early."

Jiang Qingying's eyes darkened slightly as she sat down at the dining table. Looking at the exquisite and delicious breakfast, she didn't have much of an appetite and hesitated to start eating.

Aunt Mei was a very worldly and sensible old woman. Seeing that Jiang Qingying was not in a good mood, she placed the warmed milk next to her and said softly, "This is milk that my husband specially instructed me to warm for you this morning. Also, he noticed that you haven't been looking well lately, so he asked me to prepare some tonics for you to take to the company this morning."

Jiang Qingying saw a thermos in the corner of the table, stared at it for two seconds, then looked away and said to Aunt Mei, "Okay, I understand."

She picked up the warm milk, took a small sip, and found the milky taste a bit astringent. After thinking it over, she gave up. "Aunt Mei, could you please prepare a glass of juice for me? I don't like drinking this milk."

Aunt Mei paused for a few seconds, then gave an awkward but polite smile. "Okay, the sweet and sour juice is indeed quite appetizing. I'll go prepare it right away."

"Thank you, Aunt Mei," Jiang Qingying replied.

While waiting for the juice, my phone beeped. It was a message from Zhou Yu with only two words: "Done."

Jiang Qingying glanced at it, her expression indifferent, hardly changing.

She had just gotten up and messaged Zhou Yu, asking him to hand over the evidence she had collected over the years regarding Chen's tax evasion to her superiors. She had been holding onto this evidence, and could use it to destroy Chen's company at any time. But she had never used it before because Chen Liqian hadn't done anything too bad to her, not enough to warrant her taking action to completely eliminate him.

But this time is different.

Chen Liqian touched her people, which crossed her bottom line.

She knew that even if she didn't take action, Lu Jinyuan would handle it, as for why.

The main problem is that I'm just discouraged.

Yes, she was still angry. Although she had a brief argument with Lu Jinyuan yesterday, she gave up because they were not on the same page. Although Lu Jinyuan did not understand her thoughts, he did try to coax her.

The fire was extinguished by water, but the water wasn't enough, and the embers were still smoldering.

She needed to vent to someone, and Chen Liqian was the best choice.

It's his fault for bullying her husband.

On the other side.

Just as Lu Jinyuan was about to deal with Chen Liqian, Qi Xin reported that he had received news this morning that the Chen family was suspected of tax evasion, involving a huge amount of money. Chen Liqian had been taken away for investigation, and the Chen family was now in complete chaos.

"Could it be that Madam did it?" Qi Xin asked.

Lu Jinyuan smiled but didn't answer his question. She knew perfectly well that no one else would do this, and do it so quickly.

He waved his hand, signaling Qi Xin to leave. He made a call to Jiang Qingying, but it was hung up as soon as it rang, and a message came back quickly afterward.

Not lending money: "I'm in a meeting, I'll contact you later."

Lu Jinyuan stared at the full schedule on his computer desktop, unmoved, and suddenly felt like neglecting his duties for a moment.

The snow that had been falling for several days finally stopped this morning. After the snow, the earth was covered with a thick, white, fluffy blanket, and the world was silent. Many snowflakes rested on the withered, blackened branches of trees by the roadside, looking from a distance like white jade Pixiu quietly taking a nap.

Lu Jinyuan stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his hands in his trouser pockets, momentarily lost in the view outside. Jiang Qingying's call brought him back to his senses; a glance at the time pinned to the top of his phone showed that twenty minutes had already passed.

Sure enough, time flies when you're being lazy.

"Hello." He answered the phone and heard the steady sound of high heels hitting the ground, guessing that she was walking.

"Did you need something?"

"Did you do what Chen Liqian did?"

Jiang Qingying chuckled, unlocked the office door, and said as she walked, "Isn't that a rhetorical question you already know the answer to?"

Lu Jinyuan raised an eyebrow, clearly knowing the answer already, and thus, having nothing more to say, he, the one who had initiated the call, fell silent.

"How come you didn't even say thank you?" Jiang Qingying sat in the soft chair, leaning back and stretching her waist, relieving some of the fatigue from the morning's meetings. She muttered and scolded him, "That's not kind of you."

Lu Jinyuan lowered his brows, his eyes curved slightly, and his face gradually softened. "I was thinking that a simple thank you would seem rather impolite."

Jiang Qingying hummed in response, her tone light and flirtatious, her red lips curving upwards: "So, how are you going to thank me?"

"What do you want?" Lu Jinyuan asked calmly.

"Tch—" Jiang Qingying utterly disdainful of his straight-man attitude, "Think for yourself."

Lu Jinyuan readily agreed, then changed the subject slightly: "Did you drink the stew that Aunt Mei made for you this morning?"

Jiang Qingying froze for a moment, completely forgetting about it. She quickly opened the thermos, which contained coconut milk, egg white, and bird's nest. The temperature was still warm, but the bird's nest had been soaking for a morning, so it probably wouldn't taste good anymore.

Hearing the silence on the other end, Lu Jinyuan could roughly guess what was going on. "Want to have lunch together?"

“Okay.” Jiang Qingying didn’t think much of it. “Then I’ll call home and ask them not to send food over.”

Jiang Qingying and Lu Jinyuan's lunches are prepared and packed by their family's housekeeper and delivered to their company by their driver every day.

"No need," Lu Jinyuan said, stopping him. "I'll have the driver bring your meal along with the food to the Jiang family's place."

Jiang Qingying was speechless, her enthusiasm suddenly dampened, and she said helplessly, "Is this what you call having a meal together?"

"Am I wrong?" Lu Jinyuan asked confidently.

It takes fifteen minutes to drive from the Lu family to the Jiang family, and half an hour to go back and forth. Jiang Qingying didn't know what to say when it came to eating a packed lunch from home.

She gave a stiff, fake laugh, gritting her teeth as she played along: "That's right, that's right. After all, I can earn a lot of money in a minute, so there's no need for us to waste time going out."

Lu Jinyuan got up and left the office, gesturing to Qi Xin to prepare the car. As he walked, a low chuckle escaped his throat. "So President Jiang wanted to eat out. That's quite romantic. I didn't think things through this time."

"I didn't!" Jiang Qingying exclaimed angrily.

"I'm sorry," Lu Jinyuan apologized readily. "I only have one hour today at noon. How about we do it another time?"

"There won't be a next time!" Jiang Qingying said and hung up the phone, her chest heaving rapidly.

Lu Jinyuan frowned slightly as he looked at the phone that had been hung up. It was already winter, so why was he still so hot-tempered?
