Chapter 8 A Long Wind Blows and the Moon Comes

Jiang Qingying did not return to the party. She contacted Zhou Yu to come pick her up, and he arrived shortly afterward.

Zhou Yu had a feeling that something was wrong with his boss, not only because he left the venue early, but also because when he called him, his voice was low and weak, as if he had lost all his strength.

He sat in the passenger seat and quietly observed Jiang Qingying through the rearview mirror. He saw her turn her head and look out the window expressionlessly, her gaze seemingly fixed, even blinking becoming a luxury.

After a long silence, she said, "Help me investigate the internal situation of the Lu family, the more detailed the better."

"Yes," Zhou Yu replied businesslike.

Jiang Qingying handed him the contract she was holding, saying, "Have the legal department review this contract."

Zhou Yu took it, opened it, and was instantly stunned, staring at Jiang Qingying.

Jiang Qingying smiled and said, "Tell the colleagues in the legal department not to worry."

Zhou Yu didn't understand, but he nodded nonetheless.

The brief conversation ended, and then an endless silence fell over them again.

The night was utterly silent. Watching the scenery flash by outside the window, and the occasional car taillights shining through, the light flickered on her face as her alluring red lips parted slightly.

"Lu Jinyuan," Jiang Qingying read silently in her mind.

Tonight, she understood. Whether it was a path laid out by Lu Jinyuan or a pit he dug, she would ultimately be lured and led astray by him.

The collaboration he proposed today is bait. Even if she doesn't take the bait, Lu Jinyuan is a man of deep cunning, cold and aloof. He has a million ways to make her agree.

Jiang Qingying snorted coldly and said in a voice only she could hear, "I'll go then, but the initiative is in my hands."

When Jiang Qingying returned home, Gou Dan greeted her warmly as always, but she shook her head at the dog, pouting, and said, "Baby, stay away from me. I don't want to see dogs right now."

A double entendre.

But the puppy couldn't understand. It was met with indifference, so it could only whimper in frustration and then run back to its little bed in a huff.

Jiang Qingying kicked off her high heels and went upstairs barefoot, heading straight for the bathroom. The maid had already prepared the bathwater, and next to the tub was a cabinet full of scented bath bombs. She chose her usual scent. The bath bomb dissolved instantly in the water, producing rich, dense bubbles that piled up into a small mountain, releasing a delicate camellia fragrance. She slumped into the tub, the fatigue of the whole day instantly disappearing, and listlessly started scrolling through her phone.

After dealing with the unanswered messages, she saw a "99+" message displayed in the upper right corner of the "Discover" section. She clicked on it, and sure enough, it was a message from her Moments.

It's obvious that Lin Tingwan reminded her to look at it; with several posts a day, the number has already reached 99+.

Jiang Qingying clicked her tongue lightly.

When will WeChat remove this feature?

She's not someone who posts on her Moments often; she rarely even checks it. In her circle, it's mostly about who signed a new deal, which project was completed, or, like her two girlfriends, posting about their daily lives—shopping and eating in a sophisticated, socialite style, showing off limited-edition bags or jewelry.

Jiang Qingying's real circle of friends is very small. Her identity is special, and so is her circle. From childhood to adulthood, she has seen too many people who would do anything for fame and fortune and who are hypocritical. After growing up, she entered the business world. Everyone makes friends with a facade of human relationships, and interests always outweigh feelings.

Therefore, she has only ever had two close friends.

Lin Tingwan and Nan Chun are her childhood friends. Lin Tingwan is an obscure game streamer with mediocre gaming skills. Most of her attention comes from her luxurious clothes and her daily routine of eating, drinking, and having fun. She is the kind of girl who was spoiled and raised by her parents, but she is kind and innocent. She doesn't cause any major trouble or get into any problems. In the three-person circle, she is the source of joy.

Nan Chun, a well-known actress, is exceptionally beautiful. Every smile and gesture exudes the charm of a woman from Jiangnan, yet beneath her gentle exterior lies a rebellious spirit. She is thoughtful and intelligent; her gentle, watery eyes are like knives, capable of easily piercing hearts—a trait she shares with Jiang Qingying.

Her WeChat Moments are set to be visible only for the last six months, and even within that large area, clicking into her profile page reveals a completely blank page.

Because she never posted it.

Suddenly an idea popped into her head. She exited the Moments interface and, relying on her memory, entered a few keywords into the search box. The system quickly found Lu Jinyuan's account. Only then did she realize that she had added him on WeChat more than a year ago, and she had forgotten to add a nickname for him back then.

Lu Jinyuan's WeChat name is "Wolfgang," meaning the path of the wolf. A name full of wildness and power.

Jiang Qingying's lips curled into a subtle smile. Her thumb paused on the screen for a second before she inexplicably clicked on the homepage.

Lu Jinyuan's Moments were similar to hers, but at least they had some content. Perhaps because time permissions weren't set, her latest post was a picture of a shimmering pond with bamboo shadows floating on the surface.

The caption reads: "A long wind blows and the moon comes."

A post from a year ago on WeChat Moments. The refined, scholarly style was completely different from his WeChat name.

Jiang Qingying zoomed in on the image, but after looking at it for a long time, she couldn't see any trace of the moon. Feeling bored, she exited the interface.
