Chapter 89: A lover is someone who satisfies both the other person and oneself.
Weekends are wonderful, and the best weekends are those where you don't have to work and can sleep in.
Jiang Qingying slept until noon, then ate lunch, since she and Lin Tingwan had arranged to meet in the afternoon anyway.
Lu Jinyuan came in and called her downstairs for dinner. He saw that she had just come out of the bathroom after washing up. A brief look of doubt flashed in his eyes as he recalled what they had said last night.
"Didn't you say last night that we made plans for this morning?"
“Yes, that’s right.” Jiang Qingying said dismissively.
It's twelve o'clock now.
“Wanwan’s mornings are a little different from others; her mornings start at 2 PM.”
Lu Jinyuan smiled, took her hand, and led her downstairs. "Will I take you there later?"
"No need," Jiang Qingying said. "Don't get involved in your best friend's date."
Lu Jinyuan looked at her, his eyes slightly aggrieved, like a wronged young man who had been abandoned. After a long while, he said softly, "Alright."
Jiang Qingying ignored him, shook off his hand, and went downstairs to eat.
During the meal, Lu Jinyuan's gaze kept falling on her, making Jiang Qingying feel uneasy under his stare, so she questioned him.
What are you looking at!
"Look at your hair."
"......"
Jiang Qingying drooped her eyelids and looked at him speechlessly, "If you love long hair so much, then keep it to yourself."
"I love you when you have long hair."
"You don't love me anymore because I have short hair?"
"Of course not." Lu Jinyuan looked into her eyes sincerely and said earnestly, "I'm just a little reluctant to see your long hair. After all, when I first fell for you, you had long curly hair."
Lu Jinyuan smiled gently, his tone filled with nostalgia, "Very beautiful."
Jiang Qingying had been praised for her beauty since she was a child, so when Lu Jinyuan said she was beautiful, she didn't feel much. Instead, her attention was on another word.
My heart is fluttering.
The two words kept flashing through her mind, and it took her a long time to finally speak, "When exactly?"
Lu Jinyuan knew what she was referring to, smiled, and replied, "I've said before that I haven't paid much attention to emotions. I only realized I was attracted to you later. I guess it was probably the night you asked me to be your driver."
Jiang Qingying could recall almost immediately that it was that night. She was half-drunk, asked him to be her driver, deliberately gave her the wrong address, and then a series of things happened where she forced herself on him.
That night, the gun almost went off accidentally.
"Sure enough, what leaves the deepest impression on you men's minds are still some exciting images," Jiang Qingying complained.
Lu Jinyuan remained noncommittal, "Because I really couldn't control myself that night, I was completely bewitched by you."
Jiang Qingying felt her cheeks burning and hurriedly looked away from him. "Back then... I think I just wanted to play around with you."
Lu Jinyuan's eyes dimmed.
“I’m telling the truth,” Jiang Qingying cautiously defended herself. “Back then, my brain wasn’t fully developed, and I didn’t know what it meant to be moved. Besides, we hadn’t met more than a few times.”
Lu Jinyuan thought about it carefully and realized that it was true. She was very young at the time, so her words were quite credible.
"So when did you fall for me?"
This problem was a bit difficult for Jiang Qingying. She spent the entire meal thinking about it but couldn't come up with a solution. Finally, before leaving for her appointment, Lu Jinyuan saw her to the door, and she grabbed his collar, making him lower his head.
Lu Jinyuan cooperated with her, bringing his face close to hers until their noses almost touched, their breaths mingling and exchanging.
He asked in a low voice, "What's wrong?"
Jiang Qingying's dark eyelashes fluttered up and down as she kissed him and whispered, "I still can't figure out exactly when I fell for you. For a long time, you were engaged to someone else. My personality doesn't allow me to have any desire for you. Even if I had feelings for you, I would lie to myself and force myself to suppress those feelings."
"It's okay, as long as you love me now."
“Perhaps ‘attraction’ is a more accurate word.” Jiang Qingying’s fingertips lingered on his face, tracing his features from his brow bone down. “It’s a bit cliché, but there’s no denying that I was attracted to you at first sight. You’re the first man who has made me feel an irresistible urge to get close to you.”
Lu Jinyuan lowered his eyes, his gaze sparkling with light and pleasure. "Then I really have to thank my good looks."
Jiang Qingying's face lit up with joy, and she kissed him again, "I'm leaving now."
"Okay, be careful." Lu Jinyuan rubbed his lips and nose against her face, giving her a goodbye kiss.
3 PM.
Jiang Qingying and Lin Tingwan went to their usual hair salon to get their hair done.
Lin Tingwan is a game streamer who often shows her face on camera, so she has extremely high requirements for her hairstyle. She would agonize over the hair color and the curl of her perm, and it took her half an hour to decide on a hairstyle.
Jiang Qingying's hairstylist hadn't arrived yet, so she had no choice but to sit on the sofa and wait, since Lin Tingwan wouldn't be ready anytime soon anyway.
"I'm having my wedding in September," Lin Tingwan suddenly said.
Jiang Qingying looked up and met her reflection in the mirror. "I know."
Lin Tingwan pouted, "Aren't you pregnant?"
"It's okay. The baby was about nine months old at that time, and there was still a long time before the due date. It's not a big problem," Jiang Qingying replied lightly.
But Lin Tingwan was very worried. "I'm afraid you're too tired. I'm thinking of discussing with Song Mingxu whether to move it forward by a month or two or postpone it."
"It's not that bad, I'm perfectly healthy." Jiang Qingying laughed. "Besides, it would be troublesome to break the arrangements by bringing forward the wedding date, but if it is really postponed, your Song Mingxu will probably storm into the Jiang Group building and demand an explanation from me."
Lin Tingwan sighed, "I feel that if either of you or Nan Chun were gone, I would regret it for the rest of my life."
Jiang Qingying had been to a wedding before and understood her thoughts, so she comforted her: "It's okay, don't worry. Although I can't be your bridesmaid, I will definitely be there."
Lin Tingwan felt much better after being comforted by her.
The hairstylist had finished his work and came over, asking Jiang Qingying how she wanted her hair done.
Jiang Qingying sat in front of the mirror, looking at her smooth hair, which was five or six centimeters below her collarbone. She thought it would look much better if she let it grow for a few more months.
I thought about it quietly for a long time.
She said, "The weather is getting warmer, so could you thin it out a bit for me, and then trim the ends, but try not to change the length too much."
Lin Tingwan, who was sitting next to her, turned her head and stared at her.
"What's wrong?"
Didn't you say you wanted to cut your hair short?
Jiang Qingying was silent for two seconds, her dark eyes darting around before she said in a light tone, "You suddenly changed your mind."
Lin Tingwan was stunned. "You're going to grow your hair long? I remember you haven't had long hair since you graduated from university."
"Hmm." Jiang Qingying played with the ends of her hair. "Let it grow long."
Lin Tingwan: "Why?"
Jiang Qingying's red lips curved slightly, and a soft laugh escaped her honeyed throat, "Lu Jinyuan likes the way I look with long hair."
"Wow!" Lin Tingwan exclaimed as if she had discovered a new continent. If the hairstylist behind her hadn't been applying chemicals to her hair, she would have jumped up right now.
Jiang Qingying: "Why are you so agitated?"
"How can I not be agitated?" Lin Tingwan was unable to calm down. "Are you still the Jiang Qingying who only thought of herself and put herself at the center? Your free spirit has disappeared? You're actually going to change for a man?"
“Of course it’s still me,” Jiang Qingying said. “He likes my long hair, and I can grow it for him, but if I really resist it in my heart, I definitely won’t do something I hate just because he likes it.”
"I am willing to grow my hair long for the person I love, and I am also very happy in the process."
Love is an emotional need; loving someone means satisfying both the other person and yourself.
