Chapter 33

The cinema hall was crowded with people. Yan Xiao and Ye Fei were so good-looking that they stood out even if they were standing in the corner.

Ye Fei ignored the frequent glances from the crowd. He raised his eyes and looked at Yan Xiao playfully: "Boss Yan, are you teasing me on purpose?"

Yan Xiao was stunned for a moment, seemingly unable to accurately understand the meaning of the word "撩". He asked carefully: "Can you explain it in detail?"

"What you just said," Ye Fei thought for a moment and asked Yan Xiao, "Who did you learn that from? Cheng Minghao?"

Yan Xiao said "No", then "I didn't learn it", then looked Ye Fei in the eyes and told him: "I am just stating the facts."

Before Ye Fei could say anything else, the theater staff had already stood at the ticket gate and signaled that the audience could enter.

"Forget it." Ye Fei gave up asking and pulled Yan Xiao towards the screening room.

As he was walking, he suddenly felt something was wrong, so he stopped and looked back: "Why are there so few people here?"

While eating, Ye Fei had already learned the special meaning of today from Yan Xiao. Normally, the cinema should be packed with people every time, but there were only a few people in the same aisle with them.

Yan Xiao couldn't answer his question. In fact, he didn't care about the number of people. As long as Ye Fei was by his side, it was enough.

"Come in first." He pointed to the door of the screening room.

So, Ye Fei put this question behind her and walked into the screening room side by side with Yan Xiao.

Their seats were in the fourth row, right in the center, with a wide field of vision and a moderate distance.

Ye Fei unscrewed the mineral water bottle and drank while observing the surroundings. It's not an illusion. There are indeed few people who come to see this movie, and most of them are close friends. There are basically no couples, which is very strange.

Ye Fei put the water in the cup holder and asked Yan Xiao in a low voice: "Did you choose this movie yourself?"

Yan Xiao hummed, gently touched Ye Fei's fingertips, wiped off the water drops on them, and told him his reasons: "The rating is very high and very touching."

Ye Fei thought it was funny to hear Yan Xiao say the word "touching", because he couldn't imagine Yan Xiao being moved, so he asked him: "How do you know, have you seen it in advance?"

"No." Yan Xiao said.

He never wastes his time on entertainment such as watching movies or playing games, of course, going out with Ye Fei does not count. Everything related to Ye Fei is a bright light in Yan Xiao’s dull and boring life, worthy of being treasured forever.

"Cheng Minghao said so."

Ye Fei understood, and asked why Yan Xiao paid special attention to Valentine's Day. It turned out that Cheng Minghao reminded him of it.

A familiar music came to my ears, and the movie was about to begin. Ye Fei didn't say anything else and focused his attention on the big screen.

The movie was well made.

The heroine is a low-level screenwriter whose works are always rejected, and the hero is a talented director who suffers from depression. The two met at a business banquet.

The hero was attracted by the heroine's optimism and open-mindedness, and since then he often encouraged and helped her in her career. After learning about the hero's illness, the heroine not only did not stay away from him, but instead persevered in trying to infect him with her positive attitude.

The two people cared for each other and warmed each other, and gradually things became better and better.

The love line is sweet, the career line is inspiring, and the actors are good-looking and have good acting skills. In Ye Fei's opinion, "After Meeting You" is a very successful romance film.

But at the same time, I was even more confused. Shouldn't this kind of movie be the first choice for Valentine's Day? Is it that his vision is outdated, or have young people's mindsets changed?

Ye Fei took another sip of water and continued reading.

The plot has developed to the point where the TV series written by the heroine has been well received, and the hero has booked her favorite restaurant to celebrate for her. The two of them made many plans for the future, and the heroine was still smiling until she went to bed.

However, this beauty did not last long. The protagonist's condition suddenly rebounded after a period of recovery. This time, no amount of treatment was of any use.

At the moment before committing suicide, the male protagonist seemed to be split into two parts. Part of him calmly watched the knife fall on his skin, while the other part tried desperately to recall every moment he had spent with the heroine, trying to stop himself.

But reason still could not defeat the disease.

In the last scene of the movie, at the celebration party for the heroine's TV series, everyone was cheering, except the heroine. She was sitting in the hero's house, holding the same knife that the hero used to commit suicide.

The director gave an open ending, not explicitly stating what happened to the heroine, leaving it up to the audience's imagination.

Ye Fei finally understood why no one watched this movie. It was really unlucky to watch such a movie with your significant other on Valentine's Day.

The audience began to leave the theater one after another. Their footsteps were mixed with uncontrollable sobs. Together with the sad tone of the ending song, there was an indescribable sadness.

Ye Fei lowered her eyes and did not move.

Yan Xiao did not urge him and continued to sit with him quietly.

Five minutes later, they were the only two left in the theater. The staff had already arrived at the door. Ye Fei rubbed his face, stood up, and said, "Let's go."

The two walked out of the screening room in silence. When they went downstairs, Ye Fei suddenly asked Yan Xiao: "What do you feel after watching the movie?"

Yan Xiao couldn't fully understand what this "feeling" meant, but he tried his best to synchronize with Ye Fei, so he replied dryly: "It looks good."

Ye Fei knew that he didn't understand, so she thought for a moment and then said, "When the movie ended, the other audience members all cried."

"Why are you crying?" Yan Xiao turned his head to look at Ye Fei, a little confused.

Ye Fei said: "Because the hero and heroine are separated by life and death, they can't be together."

"It's just an act." Yan Xiao stretched out his hand to block a child who rushed towards him and continued to walk forward. His tone was so steady that it was almost cold-blooded. "It's not real."

Ye Fei didn’t know how to explain to him, and he wasn’t in the mood to explain, so he didn’t continue the topic.

After a while, the two walked out of the mall. While waiting for the driver to come, Ye Fei asked Yan Xiao again: "What would you do if I died?"

Yan Xiao, who had a blank expression throughout the entire movie, suddenly changed his expression.

This was the first time Ye Fei saw him have such a big emotional fluctuation.

"Don't ask such questions," Yan Xiao tightly grasped Ye Fei's hand, his strength so strong that he seemed to be unable to control himself, "There is no such thing."

"But we have to face it," Ye Fei laughed at himself, talking about his life and death as casually as eating and drinking, "No one knows what will happen to an accident or..."

Before he could finish his sentence, Yan Xiao pulled him into his arms.

"Don't ask such questions." Yan Xiao repeated.

As if he was afraid that Ye Fei would run away, he pressed him tightly against his chest and said in a slightly louder voice than usual: "I don't like it. Don't say it again in the future, okay, Ye Fei?"

The two people were pressed tightly together, and Ye Fei could feel Yan Xiao's muscles tensed, as if he was extremely panicked, and as if he couldn't bear it.

The driver maneuvered the car quietly to the side of the road, but seeing that the atmosphere was not right, he did not dare to get out to call them.

Ye Fei saw it from the corner of her eye, took a deep breath, and patted Yan Xiao on the back: "Okay, let me go, it's time to go back."

Yan Xiao didn't move. After a while, he slowly let go, but still held Ye Fei's hand.

The dark blue business car drove slowly towards the city center. In the car, Yan Xiao changed from his usual quiet and calm self and became very talkative.

"I read your medical examination report at 8:35 pm on December 8 last year," Yan Xiao said, "you are in good health."

He paused and deliberately added, "No problem." It was not known whether he was speaking to Ye Fei or to himself.

Ye Fei said "hmm". Before they entered into a contractual marriage, they exchanged medical examination reports just in case.

Yan Xiao moved closer to Ye Fei and said to him, "Can we do the physical examination together this year? I'll have someone make an appointment with the most professional institution."

Ye Fei did not answer, so Yan Xiao continued talking to himself.

Like a neurotic fool, he kept reporting Ye Fei's height, weight and other physical data, repeatedly emphasizing Ye Fei's health condition. It seemed as if this could alleviate the anxiety and uneasiness brought to him by the previous sentence, and he did not stop until he reached his destination.

Ye Fei closed her eyes. It was just a hypothesis, but Yan Xiao's reaction was so big. If they really were together and he died two years later, what would become of Yan Xiao?

Before, he was too greedy and tried to escape again and again with a lucky mentality. But a movie completely woke him up.

It was already past eleven o'clock and there was no one else in the garage elevator. Ye Fei's eyes were empty, staring into the void, not knowing what he was thinking. It was only when Yan Xiao reminded him that he realized that he had reached the 23rd floor.

Ye Fei took out the key and opened the door. Yan Xiao stood beside him and watched him, as if he wanted to wait for him to go in before going home.

The sound of keys turning echoed in the corridor, a bit harsh.

"Yan Xiao," Ye Fei pulled the key out of the lock and said, "I've thought about it."

The voice-activated light suddenly went out, and darkness enveloped the entire corridor. Yan Xiao couldn't see Ye Fei's face, nor could he judge his expression when he said this.

"Yeah." He said, waiting quietly for Ye Fei's next words.

"Let's not be together anymore." Ye Fei said.

The lights came on again, and the bright light hurt Yan Xiao's eyes.

The corridor was quiet.

After a long time, Yan Xiao said: "The time is too short, you must not have thought it through. I'm not in a hurry, Ye Fei..."

"Yan Xiao," Ye Fei interrupted him and said, "I think very clearly."

"Is it because the movie tonight is not good?" Yan Xiao ignored logic and cause and effect, and stubbornly tried to find a reason for Ye Fei to refuse, "We won't go in the future."

Ye Fei opened the door and said, "No."

He walked into the house and was about to close the door when Yan Xiao suddenly called his name from behind: "Ye Fei." He said, "Would you please think about it again?"

The voice was low and sounded a little pathetic.

"Not good." Ye Fei said, and closed the door cruelly.

The author has something to say: I wrote the movie, please don’t bring it into reality~

It’s a sweet article, don’t panic!
