Shen Qian opened his eyes, looked at the constantly vibrating bracelet, and answered the phone with some surprise.
The phone was a video projector. On the other end, Ding Yi, wearing a navy blue pajama, was lying sleepily on the bed, half her face buried in the pillow, her hazy eyes looking at Chen Qian.
"get up."
"You call me just to wake me up?"
Shen Qian found it somewhat amusing and glanced at the time. "It's only six o'clock. The exam doesn't start until nine. Even if I get up at eight, I'll still make it."
"Never mind, get up quickly." Ding Yi didn't seem to be fully awake yet, and her muttered tone had an unusual hint of coquetry.
"Okay, okay, I'll get up right away..." Shen Qian couldn't stand this and sat up in bed with a start.
“I watched you leave.” Ding Yi shook his head and propped himself up on his elbows.
...These buttons are really white.
He was even more energetic before sinking.
But soon, Ding Yi noticed that Shen Qian's gaze was strange and warned, "Don't look around."
I didn't see you covering your collar either...
Shen Qian inwardly complained, but his gaze became much more upright, and he only glanced at Shen Qian out of the corner of his eye.
"Exam admission ticket".
"Pencil? Pen? Eraser?"
"Bring two more."
Ding Yi kept urging Shen Qian to take everything he needed, and only after watching Shen Qian leave the house did he hang up the phone, yawning repeatedly.
Ding Yi seems to be getting more and more tired in the videos lately. Normally, a beginner martial artist is full of energy, and it's not a big deal if they don't sleep all night.
Shen Qian guessed that it might be related to the training camp she was participating in at Beiwu, which was said to be in preparation for a large-scale competition that the martial arts department was about to hold.
After going downstairs, Shen Qian noticed several elderly people who had gotten up early pointing and gesturing at a stretched Hongqi luxury car. Curious, Shen Qian went over to investigate.
"Uncle Zhang, whose luxury car is this?"
Before the old man could answer, the car door was pushed open, and Huo Ling'er, with her ponytail, waved to Shen Qian with a bright smile, "Shen Qian, get in the car!"
"You..." Shen Qian opened his mouth, but seeing that the eyes of the elderly people around him had changed, he had no choice but to bite the bullet and get into the car.
"What are you doing?" Shen Qian glared at Huo Ling'er.
"I'm here to give you a ride to the exam!" Huo Ling'er said confidently. "You're the pride of our No. 7 Middle School, so of course I want to contribute to your college entrance exam success!"
"Does that mean you have to stay up all night?" Shen Qian glanced at Huo Ling'er's dark circles, which even makeup couldn't hide, and sighed.
Huo Ling'er blushed, "This...this has nothing to do with you, I just have insomnia."
After finishing the breakfast Huo Ling'er brought, Shen Qian looked at Huo Ling'er's satisfied expression and thought for a moment before reminding her, "Just this once, don't come again. I still prefer taking the tram."
After Huo Ling'er reluctantly agreed, the Hongqi car had already driven to the entrance of No. 1 Middle School.
Fortunately, as the best middle school in the city, the entrance of No. 1 Middle School is filled with luxury cars, so the Hongqi is not too conspicuous.
Before getting out of the car, Shen Qian felt a strong sense of unease. He grabbed Huo Ling'er, who was pouting and leaning closer, and asked in astonishment, "What... what are you doing?"
Huo Ling'er blushed and after a long while lowered her head and murmured, "The movies say that a girl's kiss can increase her luck."
"..."
Shen Qian released Huo Ling'er and quickly slipped out of the car.
Once I entered the gates of No. 1 High School and joined the flow of people going to take the exam, I looked up at the red silk cloth hanging on top of the statue in No. 1 High School, with slogans such as "Win the College Entrance Examination" written on it, and my chaotic heart gradually calmed down.
If the system were to handle it, taking the liberal arts exam should be an absolute breeze.
But Shen Qian was unwilling to do so.
That would be tantamount to completely negating the efforts he had spent on books over the past three months.
A top-tier textbook isn't difficult; the real challenge is becoming a top scorer in the humanities.
But this time, Shen Qian wanted to try his best based on his own abilities.
...
The three-and-a-half-day exam could feel very slow, or it could feel very fast.
"...From the highest heavens to the deepest hells, wherever the Way lies, that is where the heart's desire will be!"
After finishing the last word, Chen Qian checked his answers one last time before letting out a slight sigh, closing the exam paper, and raising his hand to signal the invigilator.
"Martial Arts Theory" is the last subject. The question types and thinking are similar to those in Chinese, except that the content tested is all basic knowledge of martial arts, with more points to memorize. This subject is also the simplest for the current students.
Similar to the previous subjects, the proctor glanced at the wall clock with surprise, then walked over with a frown.
With nearly an hour left before the exam ended, the invigilator, just like before, gave Shen Qian a severe dressing-down, believing that Shen Qian should not have given up on the college entrance exam so easily.
After confirming several times that Shen Qian was indeed going to hand in his paper, the invigilator had no choice but to take away Shen Qian's exam paper and let him leave the examination room.
Having grown accustomed to the astonished and dismissive looks from others in the examination room, Chen Qian walked out of the classroom and gave himself another self-reflection.
There's nothing seriously wrong with my Chinese, except my handwriting is a bit messy, which might cause me to lose a few points on my composition.
Mathematics is undoubtedly excellent; he solved all the problems, and before each problem, he would verify the solution using a different method. It's arguably his most reliable subject.
English was relatively easy; at most, I would lose one or two points on the essay because of its neatness, but I was confident that I would not make any grammatical mistakes.
Japanese is, needless to say, super easy. It's just that the girl doing the listening comprehension dubbing had a rather unpleasant voice, which slightly affected the efficiency.
Then for the "Humanities Comprehensive" section, I think I didn't make any mistakes on the multiple-choice and true/false questions. It's just that the subjective essay questions are a bit hard to say, but I filled them all up beforehand.
