Chapter 129 Frozen

Shen Qian shook off the snowflakes and blinked innocently, "I just happened to be passing by, please continue, everyone!"

"Get out of here!" Huang Tao rolled his eyes. "If you have so much free time, you should go help take care of the other students. You still have some reputation now."

After dismissing Shen Qian, who had been eavesdropping, Huang Tao gestured for Li Ziyan to continue.

"Apart from Principal He from No. 6 Middle School, everyone here has some experience and should know what I was trying to say."

Li Ziyan took a deep breath and continued, "Of course, the worst-case scenario is extremely unlikely, since it hasn't happened in over a decade. But even other scenarios would be very troublesome, because we're taking care of so many children who aren't even beginner martial artists."

"In short, everyone should be more vigilant!"

Everyone nodded, and without further delay, under Sun Fang's command, the two thousand or so people formed teams of one hundred each. The soldiers marched on the outer perimeter, and led by Sun Fang, they headed towards Ming City.

The wind and snow raged, and the extreme cold was bone-chilling. The team struggled to move forward through the vast snowstorm.

Apart from Ouyang Fei and his group who had infiltrated, most of the people on the other side of the sinking boat were students from No. 7 Middle School. After the initial panic, most of them had calmed down by now.

It was very cold, but they were all students determined to take the martial arts exam, so their basic physical fitness was up to standard.

"Shen Qian, what did you hear just now?" Gu Zifang noticed Shen Qian sneaking over earlier and leaned over to ask him.

The wind and snow blocked the sound, so Gu Zifang was practically shouting.

"I'm a martial artist, I don't need to shout like that!"

Startled, Shen Qian patted his helmet and yelled back.

He was communicating with the golden ball with his mind, and was really startled when he was caught off guard.

"The principals said it's nothing serious, just head towards Mingcheng!"

Seeing that many people around him had pricked up their ears, he stepped forward and roared.

Sure enough, everyone relaxed a bit, and a few girls even tried to take photos with their wristbands, probably because they had never seen such a view before.

However, Chen Qian's mood was not actually that light.

It wasn't just the snippets of conversation he'd overheard that made Shen Qian feel uneasy; it was also because the golden ball had lost contact.

Although the golden sphere is essentially a communication device, a communication device that can communicate with the consciousness space should be of an extremely high level.

Originally, Shen Qian planned to seek help from the Hundred Kings Palace as a precaution.

I've heard that kings and nobles can travel a thousand miles a day. If they are willing to help, they should be able to arrive in no time.

Unfortunately, this channel has also been cut off.

Fortunately, this place is not far from Ming City, so we can only hope that nothing unexpected will happen.

Although reality... will always teach you a lesson.

In the midst of the ice and snow, the concept of time seems to disappear; the sky is always a hazy yellow, and none of the three suns are visible.

After walking for a while, I wondered if it was just my imagination before sinking, but the scenery around me didn't seem to have changed much. The edge of the sweeping snowstorm seemed to have spread to places I couldn't see.

"My bracelet is out of battery. How long have I been walking?"

Ouyang Fei struggled to get close to Shen Qian, raised his arm to brush the snow off Shen Qian's shoulder, and shouted at the same time.

"It's been almost three hours!" Shen Qian shouted.

"That's strange, why haven't we seen Kunning Mountain yet!" Ouyang Fei shouted in confusion.

“I’ve been calculating. If we walk 110 steps per minute, with a stride of 60cm, that’s about 4 kilometers in an hour. But Kunning Lake is 30 kilometers away from Ming City. Something’s not right!” Gu Zifang shouted.

"What are you saying!" Chen Peng and the others were completely bewildered.

"Anyway, we should be able to see Kunning Mountain by now!" Gu Zifang rolled her eyes, too lazy to explain.

Suddenly, the line stopped.

Seeing that Sun Fang had gathered a group of principals again, Shen Qian quickly went over there.

A short while later, he turned back, his expression grave.

"Zifang is right, we...are lost!"

Everyone's expression changed.

"We haven't gone far from Ming City, how could we be lost!"

"Don't their military personnel have locators?"

Faced with everyone's questions, Shen Qian had no answer, but it has to be said that Murphy's Law has struck again, and the situation is developing in an unpredictable direction.

"Commander, there's a situation ahead!" Shen Qian vaguely heard the shouts of the military personnel in charge of scouting ahead.

So he followed Huang Tao and the others, sneaking forward from behind.

Huang Tao didn't bother with Shen Qian anymore and let him follow.

In reality, there was no need to follow, because they hadn't gone far before Shen Qian saw the "situation" the scouts had described.

In a field of white snow, many mixed colors suddenly appeared.

As he drew closer, Shen Qian's pupils contracted.

Those mottled colors... they're all corpses!

Corpses stretching as far as the eye can see!

The principals' expressions changed, and when they turned around to stop them, it was too late; many students had already approached.

Although most of the horrified screams were drowned out by the wind and snow, their panic could still be felt from the staggering steps of many students.

"Judging from their characteristics, they are all scavengers!"

Upon hearing the scouts' calls, Chen Qian took a few steps and found a corpse half-buried in the snow. Turning it over, he could vaguely see hideous purple lines on the frozen skin.

He really is a scavenger.

Shen Qian stood up and took a breath; there were at least a thousand corpses here.

Is it a scavenger's hideout?
