Chapter 145 The Possibility of Alchemy

Shen Qian walked into the large lecture hall through the front door. At first, the classroom was still noisy and didn't seem to care about Shen Qian's arrival.

It wasn't until Shen Qian stepped onto the podium and stood still, and the teaching assistant who followed him in quickly turned on the microphone and poured Shen Qian a cup of tea, that everyone realized what was going on.

The classroom gradually quieted down, and everyone looked at the boy on the stage with slight astonishment.

Although I was mentally prepared, seeing such a young face standing so confidently on the podium still gave me a strong visual impact.

The large lecture hall, being the largest lecture hall in the School of Pharmacy, is rarely used for classes.

Let alone lecturers, even ordinary professors wouldn't teach here.

This classroom is usually only used when the dean or an external alchemy master is giving a lecture.

Even so, a situation like this, with every seat filled and many students having to stand at the back of the classroom, is still extremely rare.

After standing still, Chen Qian's gaze couldn't help but sweep across the classroom.

In the center of the first row, an elderly man with white hair was smiling and watching him; he was Cheng Shanhe, Wei Sijian's teacher.

To his left and right sat several middle-aged men wearing nameplates, all of whom were teachers from the School of Pharmacy.

Their faces were calm and serious, seemingly without any emotion, but only when you looked into their eyes could you see the disdain and doubt.

Behind them were the students from Beiwu.

The School of Pharmacy has only about 300 students across all four years, but there are more than 500 here. Clearly, there are many students from other schools as well, and there might even be students from other universities.

Shen Qian spotted Ding Yi in a corner. She and several roommates had arrived early to reserve seats.

Their eyes met, Ding Yi's expression softened, and everything was understood without words.

After a brief silence, the classroom gradually became noisy again.

"Please be quiet, everyone. Today's class is about to begin!" The teaching assistant tried his best to maintain order, but to little avail.

Cheng Shanhe and the others sitting in the first row remained silent.

"Sink forward, get out of Beiwu!"

One of the boys in the back row shouted something.

After a brief silence, the classroom became even noisier.

"So what if you're a martial arts champion? We at the Northern Martial Arts Academy have no shortage of champions!"

"Without twenty years of immersion in the field, how dare you come out to teach and educate people?"

Amidst the whispers, it seemed as if someone had taken the lead, and several boys started shouting.

Shen Qian was somewhat prepared for this; with a large number of people, all sorts of strange and unsavory characters would naturally appear.

The mere questioning was expected.

Shen Qian adjusted the microphone and began casually, "Hello everyone, I'm Shen Qian. Welcome to the School of Pharmacy for my first open class..."

"Jingcheng bumpkin!" Before Shen Qian could finish speaking, another shout rang out, causing many people to burst into laughter.

Shen Qian remained calm, and slowly said, "Is this all the quality the students of Beiwu have?"

In a classroom filled with students from the Northern Martial Arts Academy, this statement sounded particularly jarring.

"What did you say!"

"Do we at Beiwu need you to judge our quality?"

Many people's expressions changed, and the noise suddenly increased.

The teachers in the first row who were listening also frowned, feeling that the statement was inappropriate, but seeing that Cheng Shanhe did not express any opinion, they did not say anything.

Did I say something wrong?

Seeing the crowd's indignation, Shen Qian sneered and said, "Whether I have real skills or not, since I am standing here and you are sitting below, we are in a teacher-student relationship. If you can't even do the most basic respect for your teacher, what is this if not a lack of manners?"

"You can say I teach badly, or that I'm just trying to attract attention, but if you haven't even attended my classes, what right do you have to say such things? You're just spouting nonsense."

"True knowledge comes from practice, not from making judgments based on your shallow understanding and conjecture. You call yourselves the elite among martial arts students, where are your brains?"

He sneered before sinking in.

The classroom gradually quieted down, and many people were speechless after Shen Qian's words.

"If there are no questions, then let's prepare for class."

Shen Qian's tone suddenly changed again, "But before class begins, please have the student who just called me a 'country bumpkin' stand up."

The classroom was quiet, but no one answered.

"Dare to do it but not dare to admit it?" Shen Qian shook his head. "I'm even more disappointed."

Though the words were spoken softly, they resonated in everyone's hearts like a heavy drumbeat.

What are you more disappointed with?

The answer is self-evident.

And yet, they were unable to refute it.

"I said it, so what?"

Finally, a tall boy in the back row, unable to bear the strange looks from those around him, stood up and shrugged indifferently.

Shen Qian nodded slightly. This was the same person who had previously yelled "Get out of Beiwu," but Shen Qian needed him to come forward and admit it so that it would be legitimate.

"Get out," Shen Qian said calmly. "I, Shen Qian, do not teach those who lack virtue."

The boy's face turned red, but he stubbornly retorted, "This is an open class, it's none of your business whether I leave or not!"

"Then I'll have to ask you to leave." Shen Qian said expressionlessly.

The boy was taken aback for a moment, then laughed excitedly, "Give it a try!"

The people around them were also invigorated.

Is Shen Qian about to make a move?

This guy looks like a seasoned senior in college. Even if he was the top scorer before, he still has a few years of training ahead of him, so the outcome is really uncertain.

If Shen Qian makes a fool of himself, how can he still have the face to stand on the podium?
