Chapter 34 The Threshold Arrives

The atmosphere in the living room was somewhat eerie.

Shen Qian sat on the sofa, with Shen Liang and Wang Xiaojuan across the coffee table.

After confirming that Shen Qian hadn't lost his mind, Shen Liang and Wang Xiaojuan were finally able to think rationally.

At this moment, Wang Xiaojuan stared nervously at Shen Liang, while Shen Liang held the badge symbolizing the identity of a beginner martial artist and examined it over and over.

"There is indeed a magnetic card inside, just like what was said online..."

"This material isn't ordinary copper; it also has these specific patterns, making it very difficult to imitate..."

"Most importantly, Xiaoqian just lifted me up with one hand, so he is indeed very strong now."

"Yes, this badge should be genuine."

After a series of rigorous scientific deductions, Shen Liang reached a conclusion.

Wang Xiaojuan breathed a heavy sigh of relief, and an indescribable joy and excitement welled up in her heart.

Although Shen Liang is not a martial artist, he is still a college graduate from a technical college, and his knowledge is broader than hers, so what he said should be correct.

"Xiaoqian, how...how did you do that?" After calming down, Wang Xiaojuan asked impatiently, "When I went to your physical test last year, you were still far from the threshold of becoming a beginner martial artist!"

Shen Liang stared intently at Shen Qian, awaiting his answer.

"Actually, I'm not too sure either. In the last few months, I suddenly found that my strength has increased very quickly, as if I've suddenly become enlightened."

Chen Qian pondered for a moment and said, "I also asked Teacher Liu about this. She said that some people are just late bloomers. Maybe my body's potential is starting to awaken. Although this situation is not common, it is not rare either."

Shen Qian's explanation actually had many flaws, but he knew his parents wouldn't delve into it; all they needed was a reassuring reason.

Firstly, they are not professionals in the field of martial arts. Secondly, most parents would not think that their children are useless. They are far more accepting of their children's sudden excellence than others, and may even take it for granted.

This is also why Shen Qian was able to confess to his parents without much psychological burden.

As expected, both Shen Liang and Wang Xiaojuan had complex expressions, but mostly they were relieved and happy, and they did not ask for further details.

"By the way, Xiaoqian, you just said you receive 10,000 yuan every month?" Wang Xiaojuan quickly remembered what Shen Qian had just said.

"Yes, this month's money has already been deposited and it's in this card... From now on, every month's money will be deposited into this card on the 1st of the month. Mom, keep it safe. The password is your birthday."

Shen Qian handed his bank card with the last four digits 0404 to Wang Xiaojuan.

As for himself, he plans to use a different bank card ending in 1024 from now on. He has transferred the less than 10,000 yuan that Lao Wang gave him to that card.

Seeing Wang Xiaojuan's relieved expression, Shen Liang felt happy, but he suddenly felt something was wrong, and his face stiffened.

"Honey, what about the ten thousand I just gave you..."

"What, you still want to go back?" Wang Xiaojuan's eyebrows furrowed.

"No, it's just that I'm out of money. What do you think..." Shen Liang rubbed his hands together and coughed, giving a frantic hint.

"oh."

Wang Xiaojuan understood, and under Shen Liang's hopeful gaze, she took the envelope out again, took out two banknotes from it, and stuffed them into Shen Liang's hand.

Looking at the two hundred yuan in his hand, Shen Liang fell into a long silence once again.

Chen Qian couldn't bear to watch any longer, afraid he would burst out laughing, so he quickly changed the subject, saying, "Mom, hurry up and cook, I'm hungry."

Wang Xiaojuan nodded, then glanced at the fruit on the table and couldn't help but lecture, "Xiaoqian, I don't need that much either. I'll give you some every month from now on, but you can't waste money anymore. If you want fruit, just tell me and I'll buy it... Do you hear me?"

Shen Qian nodded repeatedly, promising to maintain a frugal and simple lifestyle in the future, and only then did Wang Xiaojuan let him go.

...

In the bedroom, Shen Qian lay sprawled on the bed, his bracelet emitting light, projecting an image of a girl with a smooth forehead, a standard oval face, and thin lips.

Ding Yi had probably just taken a shower; unusually, she wasn't wearing a ponytail, and her still-damp hair was loose over her shoulders, which diminished her normally aloof demeanor.

"What are you laughing at?" Ding Yi asked, puzzled.

"No, no..." Shen Qian reined in his wandering thoughts.

The main reason was that after the family had finished a warm dinner, Shen Liang secretly came to borrow money from him, but he insisted on keeping a straight face and acting serious, which was too funny. Shen Qian couldn't help but laugh when he thought about it.

However, no one knows a son better than his father. Shen Liang saw through Shen Qian's "secret stash" at a glance, which made Shen Qian admire him.

Ding Yi thought Shen Qian was laughing at him, so he quickly hid half of his face, only looking at Shen Qian with his eyes.

This left Shen Qian somewhat disappointed, because Ding Yi was wearing loose pajamas and had a fantastic view when he lay down.

“I’ve heard about everything before Shen Qian.”

"What?"

"It's you..." Ding Yi hesitated, unable to finish his sentence.

Shen Qian was taken aback, wondering if she also knew that I had obtained the badge of a beginner martial artist?

That doesn't make sense!

But Ding Yi's words soon made Shen Qian realize that he had misunderstood.

"Xiaoqian told me that you've been studying very hard lately and often ask them for help with questions." Ding Yi bit her lip. "So, are you planning to specialize in humanities?"

Chen Qian was momentarily at a loss for words. He had recently become engrossed in his studies, and his transformation from a prodigal son to a scholar had indeed surprised many of his classmates.

Even Liu Simin has publicly praised Shen Qian more than once for "knowing when to advance and retreat and having a sense of propriety," using it to warn "some classmates" such as Zhou Xu, who were still determined to do something but lacked the talent.
