Chapter 540 Five Months (Part 2)

Golden sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the French windows, falling in a zigzag arc onto the pristine white bed. As the alarm clock rang, the high-rising blankets trembled slightly.

Amidst a series of indistinct sobs, Shen Qian stretched and peeked out from under the covers. When he saw the time on the bedside table, he was startled, patted his head, and quickly sat up.

The other side of the blanket stirred, and the girl, also awakened, poked her head out. Her slightly disheveled hair cascaded over her snow-white neck, and further down, it parted into beautiful arcs on both sides, vaguely revealing that she was also completely naked, which aroused the imagination.

Only when she saw the young man beside her sit up did the girl's hazy, watery eyes finally regain some clarity. She forced herself to sit up as well, large pieces of the blanket slipping off, but the girl didn't care about being exposed. She just asked anxiously, "Is it too late?"

"No, it's just that I should be leaving now. After all, it's a special occasion, and I should have arrived first."

Shen Qian responded with a smile.

"That's good, I thought..." The girl visibly breathed a sigh of relief.

"Who told you to be so reckless last night? If it weren't for my amazing physique, I might not have been a match for you," Shen Qian laughed.

"I..." The girl was mortified, her face turning as red as a ripe apple, and she buried her head in her chest.

"Rest a little longer," Shen Qian said casually, having already dressed in his formal attire. "I'm heading back to Jingcheng soon. If you'd like to go back and visit, you can come with me."

"Mmm." The girl nodded like a chick pecking at rice, then hesitated before speaking, "Shenqian, I..."

"What's wrong?"

"...It's nothing." The girl finally shook her head.

"Then I'm leaving."

Shen Qian didn't pay any attention. He turned back from in front of the full-length mirror, pinched the girl's soft cheeks, and then tucked back the girl's snow-white leg, which was still covered by half a black fishnet stocking, that had been accidentally exposed. Only then did he open the door and leave.

Only when the door to the luxury suite clicked shut did Jiang Xuan, still covered by the blanket, raise her head, staring blankly in the direction Shen Qian had left, and murmur as if in a dream:

I really miss you.

After saying that, Jiang Xuan bit her finger and chuckled, but then her expression turned somewhat melancholy as if she had remembered something.

...

Beidu, Shangri-La East International Hotel, Room 002.

Shen Qian arrived a little early and breathed a slight sigh of relief when he confirmed that the person he was waiting for had not yet arrived. He then used the makeup mirror in the private room to tidy up his appearance.

For someone who has been struggling with anxiety, the feeling of tension is actually quite rare in their daily life.

But today, even though he wasn't facing royalty, Shen Qian still couldn't help feeling a little nervous.

This emotional experience, which originated entirely from ordinary people, gave me a sense of novelty that I hadn't felt in a long time.

After several tugs of conflict, when he came to Beidu again, Ding Yi, who had also taken leave from the North China War Zone, made an important decision: to introduce Shen Qian to her only remaining relative in the world, namely Ding Yi's father.

Ding Yi spoke solemnly, so Shen Qian naturally dared not be negligent. He guessed something from Ding Yi's hesitant tone.

This meeting should signify that their relationship has entered a completely new phase.

According to Ding Yi's vague revelation, her father knew about Shen Qian, but it seemed that he didn't have a very good impression of Shen Qian.

Shen Qian didn't know why his father-in-law didn't like him, a young talent that was hard to find even with a lantern. But in order to change this impression, Shen Qian did some research.

So he not only arrived in Beidu a day early, but also used his connections at the Hundred Kings Hall to book the number two private room at the best hotel in Beidu at a high price... The number one private room was only for kings and nobles, while the number two private room was the "best" in the general sense.

Dressed impeccably, Shen Qian paced back and forth in front of the private room, frequently checking his watch. The agreed time had passed quite some time, but the two had yet to show up, causing Shen Qian to frown.

Almost an hour later, with a "ding," the VIP elevator that goes straight to the top floor finally started moving.

The elevator doors opened, and Ding Yi, dressed in a black off-shoulder dress, stepped out first, led by a waiter. She, who usually disliked makeup, had made a careful appearance today. Her unusual black outfit made her look even more aloof and stunningly beautiful.

After admiring it for a few seconds, Shen Qian quickly went to meet him, but then realized something was wrong and stopped.

Why is Ding Yi the only one here?

Ding Yi seemed to have realized the problem as well. She turned around abruptly, took a few quick steps, and returned to the elevator. She vaguely heard a "Dad" before she stepped out of the elevator. After a few more whispers, Ding Yi finally pulled a distinguished-looking middle-aged man out of the elevator.

The middle-aged man, who had his head slightly tilted to the side, coughed. The moment he turned his head, a polite yet authoritative smile quickly appeared on his face. He then shrugged off the bewildered Ding Yi and strode towards Shen Qian.

"You must be Shen Qian. Hmm, not bad, you are indeed a handsome man!"

"You, you're not that Ding..."

Shen Qian was stunned the moment he saw the man's face, and when the man extended his right hand, he immediately showed a strange expression.

"What, have we met before?"

Ding Anbai stopped and raised his outstretched hand slightly.

Only then did Shen Qian notice a small note tucked between the man's fingers, with a line of hastily written, still-wet handwriting: "If you want to be my son-in-law, shut the hell up!"
