Betty suddenly realized what was happening and exclaimed, "Hey, if you send them back, they'll be in trouble too once the Kingdom's army realizes what's going on!"
Cass ignored her and turned to Wilbur instead, "Wilbur..."
Wilbur nodded, took a book from his pocket, walked over and handed it directly to Betty. Betty instinctively took the book, and under the surrounding lights, she saw the title of the book—"The Faith of Justice".
“Go back and see. You need to figure out what justice is before you know what you want to do. You guys are way behind right now,” Wilbur said with a contemptuous tone.
It's not that he looks down on the Revolutionary Army. In the past, the Revolutionary Army was a behemoth to him, a force not to be underestimated, even more dangerous than the Four Emperors.
However, after coming into contact with Mr. Kuro's philosophy and obtaining Mr. Kuro's manuscripts from his youth, his thinking changed.
Revolutionary army? That's child's play!
If Mr. Kuro were to join the Revolutionary Army, Dragon would certainly step down, but that rat-like life is nothing compared to being aboveboard in the Navy.
Mr. Kuro chose the Navy, and they also chose Mr. Kuro, offering the highest respect for Mr. Kuro's great ideals and the fighting spirit to practice them throughout their lives.
“We said we dare, so we dare. Go back. This place is none of your business.” Cass took two steps back, no longer looking at Betty, but instead focusing on the marines who were providing rescue ahead.
Betty pondered, realizing that continuing her plan here was probably impossible. She was already quite familiar with these two marines, [Giant Shield] Cass and [Big Gun] Wilbur, especially Cass. The Revolutionary Army's high command had a consensus that they could not contact this dangerous individual, because if they encountered him, their painstaking plans could be ruined.
When the intelligence reached Dragon earlier, he was disappointed that this person wasn't a member of the Revolutionary Army because he was too righteous.
The Revolutionary Army isn't pirates, so they naturally can't bring themselves to harm such a righteous person. And trying to recruit him is probably impossible, as this guy is a die-hard Kuro, one of the top figures in the faction.
"Let's see what you do!"
Betty gritted her teeth, deciding not to linger, and quickly left with the book.
Cass watched her walk away and continued, "Call Aquitaine and tell him to come over."
"Aquitaine?"
Wilbur thought for a moment and said, "Let's wait and see. I remember we're not far from headquarters. If we act rashly, our superiors will notice. We've been having trouble keeping it a secret lately. We see the CP organization all the time, and they've even asked us to investigate Dressrosa. Fortunately, 'The Faith of Justice' only talks about pure justice and nothing else."
They know what they are doing, and if it is exposed, it will not be as simple as losing their heads. Therefore, they are extremely low-key. On the surface, only David is fighting outside, but in reality, the decision-making for the operation in Dressrosa is made by the three of them.
With the Navy keeping an eye on things above and CP, David continued his territorial expansion.
"Who else would we use if not Aquitaine? David is busy giving Mr. Kuro gifts in the North Sea, while we don't even have a gift yet, and this place..."
Cass pointed to Port Matrouh, "A ready-made gift, though not as good as David, is still the best we, as the Navy, can do! If we're afraid of this and that, how can we fight for Mr. Kuro's ideals? Wilbur, you're starting to slack off!"
“No! I didn’t!” Wilbur said, his face flushed. “I was just thinking of a more precise strategy, Cass. Please believe me, my loyalty to Mr. Kuro and my belief in dedicating myself to my ideals are no less than yours!”
After thinking for a while, he said, "How about this, let those pirates come. Wang Long and Yagyu Shihu need to see the results soon. Let them come and crush the Kingdom of Maturu, then let Aquitaine take over. As fellow member states, the higher-ups won't object!"
"oh!!"
Cass's eyes widened. "A good idea. Letting them come wouldn't be bad. It can also test the steadfastness of those who go out to spread the faith, and things are under our control!"
“You’ve become much wiser lately, Cass!” Wilbur laughed.
Cass extended his hand to Wilbur and said seriously, "This is Mr. Kuro's wisdom. I'm just imitating him. Wilbur, let's work together!"
"Cass!"
"Wilbur!"
Their hands were clasped tightly together, and in the dead of night, their eyes seemed to spark with unspoken tension.
...
Bang bang bang!
Bang bang bang!!
Achoo! Achoo! Holy crap!
The next day, at headquarters, early morning.
Kuro woke up suddenly from his bed, sneezed several times, and immediately uttered a curse.
He stood there stunned for a long time, his forehead covered in cold sweat.
Bang!
The door that had been being knocked on was suddenly kicked open, and Lida walked in, calling out, "Kuro! Get up!"
"Why did you wake me up so early in the morning? Don't you know I drank too much last night?" Kuro glared at her and said.
"You told me to wake you up. You told me last night to wake you up in the morning so as not to cause any problems. You said you had to get up early for seven days in a row," Lida muttered.
"Is that so? I drank too much last night..."
Kuro shook his head, got off the bed, picked up a cigar from the box on the table, lit it, and stood by the window, puffing away, a look of unease still on his face.
He drank too much last night. He was drinking with Sengoku, Garp, and the old man. Garp, that old geezer, is incredibly carefree and can drink a lot. Sengoku is like a Buddha, never getting drunk no matter how much he drinks. The old man is really exaggerated; he pouts after every drink, which is scary, but his face never changes.
Sakazuki, however, left early because the marshal had matters to attend to.
"What’s wrong with you?"
Seeing that Kuro's expression was off, Lida asked curiously.
"I had a nightmare."
Kuro exhaled a puff of smoke, gazing out the window at the scenery, and said softly, "I had a really weird dream. I dreamt that you, all of you—Kuro, Cass, Wilbur, David, and your brother—were in Mary Geoise, practically dragging me onto that Sky Throne. And then there was a giant spider on the throne, which scared me awake. Seriously... my name is Kuro, but I'm really not the captain, so how did I end up with this damn spider?"
"Commander?" Lida tilted her head. "An Italian cannon?"
"Huh? How did you know?" Kuro glanced at her.
Lida rolled her eyes. "Sometimes you say some nonsensical things, like how the commander is associated with Italian cannons."
"Come on, you better behave yourself today. I heard you booked all the tables around here last night, forcing people to share tables elsewhere. From now on, you're at my table, don't wander off. The old man's birthday is over, the rest is just a celebration, don't cause me any trouble. There are so many people in the Navy, we have to give them face, don't embarrass me too much," Kuro said.
