If young people are the future, then Kuro himself is a young man.
His greatest advantage isn't actually flying or swordsmanship.
Their biggest advantage is that they're damn young.
Shanks is 41 now, while Kuro is only 28, making him the youngest Admiral, and Shanks is the youngest of the Four Emperors.
What does this mean? It means that thirty years from now, Kuro will be fifty-eight, in his prime, while Shanks will be seventy-one, old and like Whitebeard. The only difference is that even on land, Kuro has a high probability of beating Shanks. Once he reaches his prime, and Shanks is old, he will be even less afraid.
Similarly, thirty years later, Kaido went from sixty-one to ninety-one, and Charlotte Linlin went from seventy to one hundred years old. Although it's hard to say what their abilities were, they certainly weren't as strong as they are now.
Kaido is still at his peak, but Big Mom's strength has already begun to decline at her age.
Thirty years from now, it won't be about preventing them from causing trouble for the Navy; it will be about the Navy causing trouble for them.
Thirty years later, when they met again, they were swept into the sea and shredded to pieces. You were one pile, I was another, and no one recognized anyone else. They were all given to the sea monsters as snacks.
"The future...?"
Shanks pondered the word, then suddenly smiled: "Future versus future, Luffy won't lose."
"How interesting. When I saw him in Wano Country more than half a year ago, he was just a little chick. I want to see just how much he has grown in the past six months. Can he defeat Kaido after stalling me for a few days?"
Kuro scoffed, "If I really had that ability, I'd twist Kaido's head off. That would be too embarrassing."
"Don't underestimate the people on the high seas, Kuro."
Shanks said meaningfully, "Arrogance leads to underestimating your opponents and failure. You've become far more arrogant than before. But then again, you are indeed very young, but I will always consider you to be from the same generation as us."
Kuro exhaled a puff of smoke and said, "I'm a young man, not middle-aged, so don't give me that crap."
At that moment, Kuro glanced out the window, then turned and said, "Mr. Kuro, it seems the person has arrived."
Kuro looked ahead and saw a large number of ships in the sea ahead. As the ships approached, their appearance became clear, and they were all naval warships.
"We've arrived..."
Kuro stood up, glanced at Shanks, and said, "Don't try to force your ridiculous future on me. What's so great about the future of pirates? What can becoming the Pirate King change? Don't tell me you've never been to Laugh Tale. Even if you had, so what? Your vice-captain Rayleigh has been there, and all he does is drink and chat all day."
"A promising young man from the D clan has arrived, and for some inexplicable reason, strange expectations are placed on him. For this, they are all willing to risk their lives. I just don't understand. Since they are willing to risk their lives, why don't they do it themselves? You are not even as good as Dragon. He doesn't rely on Laugh Tale. Although the path is wrong, it is better than doing nothing."
At this point, he stroked his chin. "To be honest, if Garp weren't such a carefree person, I would have really thought his surname was Zhuge Liang."
I'm a navy officer, and a hero in the navy. Whatever I do, the world government has to clean up my mess.
His son is a member of the Revolutionary Army, the kind who is determined to overthrow the Celestial Dragons, which makes the World Government feel like it's facing a major threat.
Sun Tzu is a pirate, and the kind who wants to be the Pirate King. He also relentlessly slaps the World Government in the face, burning the World Government's flag on Enies Lobby, letting people escape from Impel Down, and causing trouble in Marineford.
He challenged all three major institutions of the World Government—the Navy, Impel Down, and Enies Lobby—and even attacked a Celestial Dragon.
Each generation is more outrageous than the last, and the Monkey family has taken over all the major powers on the high seas.
"Let's wait and see."
Shanks also stood up and laughed, "We've stalled for enough time. You'll be in for a surprise when we get to Wano Country."
"Ha, you haven't even seen him yet, not as often as I have. Fine, I'll be waiting to be surprised. Now, let me surprise you first. Let's go."
Kuro walked behind Shanks, leading him outside to wait on the deck.
Soon, the warships arrived around the Golden Lion and surrounded it.
The size of the naval warships is naturally incomparable to that of the Golden Lion. No matter how big they are, compared to Kuro's Golden Lion, they are like an adult and a child, much shorter than a head.
A warship arrived to the side of the Golden Lion. The Golden Lion lowered its elevator and placed it on the side of the warship, forming a staircase.
Kuro looked at the person coming up the steps and said in surprise, "Brother, it's you. This is quite a big entourage."
The newcomer, dressed in purple and wearing a cloak, approached with his eyes closed, tapping the deck with his cane.
Fujitora smiled.
"After all, he is one of the Four Emperors."
Yixiao tilted his head slightly toward Shanks before saying, "'Red-haired' Shanks, it's been quite a while since we last met."
"Ah...yes, Brother Yixiao, I never expected you to join the Navy. I thought with your personality, being a pirate might be more liberating," Shanks said to him with a smile.
"You know him?" Kuro asked.
Yi Xiao nodded and said, "I had met this person once before I joined the Navy."
Kuro nodded. That's true. After all, they both live in the New World. Issho was already quite famous before he joined the Navy, otherwise the Navy wouldn't have personally invited him. It's normal for him to have interacted with someone who is equally famous.
