The recovery ability of a top-tier Zoan-type Devil Fruit user is naturally extremely powerful. Moreover, the Straw Hat kid didn't actually deal much damage; he mostly wore down Kaido's stamina before delivering the final blow. So, lying down for a while naturally made him wake up.
Kuro stood up from him and stood there, waiting for Kaido to sit up before saying, "Yes, I won. I captured your entire pirate crew, and Linlin died at my hands."
“Lingling…”
Kaido's pupils contracted, and only then did he realize that the familiar body and head were on the ground not far from him.
He paused, then burst into laughter: "Oh ho ho ho ho ho! Has this old woman finally died? After living for so many years, she's finally gone!"
“You don’t seem sad at all. You were both crew members on the Rocks, weren’t you?” Kuro asked.
"From the moment we set sail, we are all destined to die at sea, Kuro, and you are no exception! What's there to be sad about? She's going to die anyway. Is she supposed to lie in bed and wait to die? Oh ho ho ho ho!"
After laughing, Kaido raised an eyebrow and glared at Kuro: "Hey, Kuro, let me go, and I can help you rule Wano Country!"
Don't listen to him!
Suddenly, Yamato, who was sitting nearby, shouted, "He won't help you! Just like Oden, he promised Oden but still lied to him! He's a liar, he'll only kill you!"
Kuro glanced at her, then looked at Kaido, raising an eyebrow and asking, "Is she really your daughter?"
"Oh ho ho ho ho, she's my daughter, the same age as you, Kuro."
"I am Oden, I am a man!" Yamato shouted again.
"The same age as me?"
Kuro looked Yamato up and down as if he had seen something interesting, then said to Kaido, "It seems you're not very good at educating your daughter; she's been brainwashed so thoroughly."
These words enraged Yamato. She stood up abruptly, causing the chains binding her to vibrate, and shouted, "What do you mean by brainwashing! I am going to become Oden's person! I will open Wano Country to the world! I will not let down the samurai who once accompanied me in the cave!"
"Oh?" Kuro glanced at her, then looked at Kaido.
Kaido chuckled, "When this kid said he wanted to be like Oden, I threw him into the cave where I imprisoned those prisoners, and he made friends with those samurai."
"Good initial intentions... but she doesn't seem to understand one thing: one's stance isn't something she can change at will, and the world isn't simply black and white." Kuro smiled and ignored Yamato.
She's not his daughter, why say so much?
She doesn't understand, but doesn't Kaido understand?
Based solely on the fact that she is Kaido's daughter, she could never have become the so-called 'Oden' or the shogun of Wano Country.
Wano Country is ruled by Kaido's violence, and it needs Kurozumi Orochi to legitimize it. The hatred of this country towards them is immense. Even if the Straw Hats win, Oden's son becomes the shogun, and Yamato becomes the new 'Kaido'?
The methods of governance may be different, but what difference would that make from before? If I were an ambitious person, I could keep Wano Country in turmoil just based on that alone.
This shift in stance is extremely difficult, and the woman clearly hadn't considered this aspect.
"Are you going to let me go?" Kaido sneered.
Kuro rolled his eyes. "Do you think I'm stupid? If I gave you a chance, you'd probably beat me to a pulp. This opportunity is rare, so why would I let you go?"
"Oh ho ho ho ho, your navy has captured me so many times, but the result is still the same!" Kaido laughed loudly, and with his laughter, the sea stone chains binding him trembled even more violently.
That's right. The title of 'strongest creature' wasn't self-proclaimed; it was given to him by the world based on his characteristics.
As a pirate, he suffered seven defeats in his life, was arrested eighteen times for challenging the Navy and the Four Emperors alone, endured more than a thousand tortures, and was sentenced to death more than forty times.
He had tried almost every kind of execution: hanging would break the chains, beheading would shatter the guillotine, and bayonets would only break the spears themselves. He had also sunk nine of the huge prison ships that were transporting him by himself.
Kuro himself admits that he is the strongest in a one-on-one fight, invincible. In a life-or-death situation, he probably couldn't beat this guy.
He's not as durable as the straw hat; although he's dealt enough damage, he might not be able to withstand it.
The situation is the same now. The chains binding him are not entirely made of seastone. No one in this world has that kind of craftsmanship. They all contain seastone, and the other materials will only increase his strength as he rests longer. Sooner or later, they will break.
Clam?
Seastone will make ability users lose their strength?
Do you think he's just starting out?
Kuro gripped the Luo Gui tightly, looked up at Kaido, and said in a deep voice, "You know, for a great pirate like you, the higher-ups usually follow procedures to execute you and maintain their authority. But as you've heard, I've gained a lot of power, so to avoid any accidents, I'll skip the procedures here. Before you've fully recovered your strength, I'll execute you right here!"
Buzz!
The air trembled, and the blade was aimed directly at Kaido's throat.
"If you have any last words, say them now. I don't have much time to give you."
He really didn't dare give Kaido time; he could feel the guy's power recovering, and the chains were trembling even more violently.
This guy never gave up the chance to break free of the chains.
Kaido stared at Kuro, baring his teeth: "Oh ho ho ho ho, it seems you've been determined from the beginning not to let me live."
