Some people are born leaders, possessing that quality from birth that attracts heroes to serve them.
Some people, through sheer luck and unique personal charm, can attract even some dim-witted but strong individuals.
Unfortunately, there are many dim-witted people on the high seas.
Some people develop their will later in life. After some guidance and enlightenment, they awaken to their own unique will, and as they become more convinced of this will, they also influence others.
Cass belongs to the last category.
This bearded Marine, whose service was no less than Kuro's, worked diligently and conscientiously in the East Blue. Ultimately, after meeting Kuro, he came to understand his own will and became increasingly convinced of it.
His deep belief caused his temperament to shift unconsciously, and assimilated a group of people around him.
Those sailors who were lost and confused at the bottom of the ranks, through him, also replicated this will and made it their own.
That is—unyielding justice!
Willpower is power.
These naval personnel, ranging from ensigns to captains, were assimilated by Cass during their training and unconsciously came to regard him as their leader.
Through Cass, they unleashed the deepest power within them.
Cass gripped his knife and roared passionately, "Mr. Crowe truly lives up to his reputation as Mr. Crowe's subordinate! He dared to take on more than a dozen captains single-handedly. This sense of justice is something we should all learn from. Colleagues, let's not let Mr. Crowe's fervent spirit go to waste!"
Upon hearing this, the nearby navy became even more zealous and frantic in their attack on the captain, and for a time gained the upper hand.
What did I do?
Kuro wanted to say that he had overreacted and was tricked by Kuro, which led to him being surrounded by the captain.
But looking at the passionate and heated expressions of these people, I simply couldn't bring myself to say those words.
Moreover, this group of navy personnel is quite powerful. One or two may seem weak, but dozens or hundreds together are very strong.
A bunch of ragtag soldiers actually managed to kill two captains and even hold their own against the remaining captains.
"Is it just you, Mr. Chloe..."
Cass looked around but didn't see Kuro. "Well, now's not the time to meet Mr. Kuro."
He said to Kuro, "Mr. Kuro, I have also arrived at the Grand Line. Unfortunately, I am not yet able to keep up with Mr. Kuro's pace. Fortunately, this war will be my opportunity to catch up with Mr. Kuro."
He extended his hand to Kuro, his words enticing: "Hey, Mr. Kuro, let's fight these captains together! I'll use their heads as a stepping stone for me to follow Mr. Kuro. You'll help me, won't you? For Mr. Kuro's justice, for the justice of the entire navy, for world peace and the dawn of a new era!"
The sheer willpower emanating from this bearded man made Kro's heart pound with excitement, causing it to skip a beat.
It's not a Devil Fruit ability; it's a pure manifestation of will.
On the contrary, this is what makes it even more terrifying.
"That navy is a threat!"
Rumba keenly noticed this situation; the bearded man was clearly the core figure of this group of valiant naval officers. If he were eliminated, everything would disappear.
“Dirkaban brothers!” Rumba shouted.
"Leave it to us!"
The Dirk and his brothers moved swiftly, leaping high into the air, their cat claws aimed at Cass.
Cass looked up, undaunted by the approaching pirate brothers, and shouted, "Is this all pirates can do?!"
Upon being met with that sharp and resolute gaze, the two men shuddered, their movements noticeably slowing down slightly.
Immediately afterwards, the marines surrounding Cass blocked his way one by one. With the attack of guns and swords, the two brothers were sent flying. The Dirkaban brothers flipped in the air and slid several meters close to the ground before raising their heads and staring solemnly at the group of marines.
"What is that... a mental shock?" Rumba asked, somewhat taken aback.
He had just sensed that extremely strong spiritual power, but he couldn't quite put his finger on what it was.
That wasn't Conqueror's Haki, but rather a physical attack manifested from the mind.
"You're kidding, right..."
Kro looked at Cass in disbelief. Others might not know, but he was very familiar with it. When the Dirkaban brothers attacked earlier, Cass had clearly displayed a move similar to Kuro's 'Crushing Pressure'.
But it wasn't murderous intent; rather, it was a passionate and unwavering will.
Kuro spent so long by Kuro's side, and was frequently tortured—no, trained—that he finally learned a bit of the essence of Kuro's high-speed movement.
This Cass has never received training from Mr. Clow. Even if he was under Mr. Clow's command during his time in the East Blue, Mr. Clow probably didn't show his strength. So where did he learn this from?
Moreover, what they learned was a mental technique that embodies willpower.
"ah!!!"
A captain launched a surprise attack from behind, knocking several sailors away, and headed straight for Cass's rear.
when!
Just then, several claw blades blocked his attack.
Kro appeared below the captain, grinning maliciously. He slashed at the captain's body with his other hand, shouting, "Storm Kick - Claw!"
Five claw-like blades sliced through the captain's body, delivering five powerful strikes that sent him flying.
Kro stood up, turned to Cass and said, "Alright, let's join forces and take down these captains first."
Although the number of captains was a bit too many, exceeding his plan, with Cass and this group around, they could still wipe them all out in one fell swoop, which would be a great achievement.
