With his Seastone handcuffs on, Absolen was naturally unable to activate his abilities, but to prevent any accidents, Kuro still activated his Observation Haki and carefully examined the area.
He is indeed dead.
Kuro clicked his tongue, "Pirates..."
"ah?!"
Hugo picked up a book from his desk and said, "The contents have changed! I was just about to recite a couple of poems in remembrance."
Clearly, this is due to Absolun's power; if he dies, all illusions will disappear.
"What book?" Kuro asked.
“This is… The Witch’s Revenge!” Hugo’s eyes were filled with astonishment.
"show me."
Kuro reached out his hand, and Hugo handed him the book. It was a thick volume, a collection of local poems and stories. The other pages were normal, but on this one page, the content felt very familiar...
port.
"Old man Nilo, please don't cause us any more trouble."
The young staff member was reprimanding the elderly Nilo, who had calmed down and was no longer as manic as before. He sat obediently listening to the reprimand, just like a child.
“It’s fine if you act recklessly normally, but you have to consider the occasion. Those are the navy, how can you mess with them?”
The staff member pursed his lips and said, "They've already complained enough about us not being able to join the navy. If you keep offending them like this, we won't be able to tolerate you anymore."
“That’s right, old man Nilo. Everyone usually takes care of you, but you can’t act recklessly. If you don’t restrain yourself, we’ll go to the higher-ups, and you’ll be fired.”
The other staff members chimed in, their faces showing a hint of anger.
I used to tolerate this old man because he had no family and he used his salary to help others. I knew he was a kind person, so I let his occasional madness slide. After all, we were just ordinary businessmen.
However, doing this to the navy would be problematic, as it is a subordinate agency of the World Government. If they want to go to sea and embrace the world, they have no other way but through the navy.
Going to sea without permission is a crime, and their families are all inside the kingdom. No matter how strong their desire for the sea is, they can only stay here.
"I see..."
Nilo looked very guilty and said apologetically, "I won't do it again. I was a bit out of line before."
"It's good that you understand; we don't really want you to lose this job."
The staff member nodded and advised, "Be more careful in the future. There are no witches; those things are just legends."
"Yeah, I read those kinds of books when I was a kid, and nothing happened. They said things like turning into monsters at night, but I'm still fine now."
"That's right. I don't know what the higher-ups were thinking. What can you do with those kinds of books? They actually banned them."
Shh, don't talk nonsense.
One of the staff members stopped the others from speaking, looked around, and said, "It's not good if someone hears us... Anyway, old man Nilo, just listen to us, and don't call anyone a witch anymore."
"A witch!!!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Nello's eyes widened instantly, his expression turning terrified and frantic as he pointed ahead, shouting, "It's a witch! It's a witch!"
"Nello, you're doing it again!"
The staff member gritted his teeth and turned his head following Nello's finger. "There's nobody here. There's no witch out there. And you..."
His words abruptly stopped as he looked towards the huge plaque above the gate. But now, the plaque was no longer about rules and regulations for entry and exit; instead, it had become a text filled with characters.
The article, just from the beginning, brought back distant memories for the staff, memories from their childhood...
"The witch's revenge?"
Not only him, but everyone stared in horror at the plaque. The characters on it were red, like blood. If you looked closely, you could see that the characters were a little wet, as if they had just been written in blood.
"They're here! The witch is here!"
Old man Nello ran around excitedly, shouting, "The witch has come for revenge! She's come with vengeance! Hahaha, she's come for revenge!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Nilo knelt down, curled up, and buried his head in the ground, crying, "It wasn't me, it wasn't me! I didn't mean to burn you to death! It was those people who dragged me into it! It has nothing to do with me!"
The sobbing had barely subsided when Nello raised his head, a bizarre smile on his face: "Burn, burn! Let everyone turn into fire, and we'll live forever! Hehehehehehe!"
That maniacal smile sent chills down anyone's spine...
In an old, tall building, sunlight shone through a few windows, but it was of no use in the deep darkness. The cold stones and the sound of dripping water, mixed with the occasional light footsteps, made the building seem very eerie.
A glimmer of light appeared briefly in the darkness.
"Hehehe..."
Sipatia squinted and limped out of the darkness, standing by a window that let in light.
She leaned against the wall, looked at the blood on her palm, stuck out her tongue and licked it, letting out a satisfied, soothing sound.
"I almost died. That navy guy is really something."
Sipatia revealed a mouthful of sharp teeth. "His blood must be incredibly beautiful. Ah... just thinking about it makes me almost climax."
"Aaaaaah!"
