The sky was overcast, night was approaching, and the breathing of the surrounding sailors grew heavier and heavier.
"Lieutenant Colonel Kuro is a lieutenant colonel, and so is our Lieutenant Colonel Hugo. Why should we treat him like this?"
The lieutenant gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, his face grim.
The captain scoffed: "I've never heard of a navy officer who blocks others from arresting accomplices of pirates."
The lieutenant drew his knife and roared, "You are not allowed to insult Lieutenant Colonel Hugo!"
"I won't let you slander Lieutenant Commander Kuro either." The captain gestured with his arm, and the marines behind him immediately raised their long guns, aiming them at the marines opposite them.
Similarly, the navy men behind the lieutenant drew their weapons, each one filled with rage.
The atmosphere was tense, as if a fight was about to break out at any moment.
"Collapse!"
Kuro swung his blade, unleashing a powerful killing intent.
However, the murderous aura was like a gust of wind, stirring their robes and hair. Kuro could see that their expressions were momentarily dazed, and then their anger intensified.
No dizziness...
"You must be joking." Lida paused in her eating.
Kuro's murderous aura couldn't even make these people faint?
When did their will become so strong?
"seawater..."
A sound came from behind.
Kuro turned his head and saw Gugas lying there, panting a few times. He said, "For those who are not dead, soaking in seawater will cure them."
Gugas's voice was no longer as sorrowful as before. He turned his head, his eyes calm, and said, "We need to hurry. Once it gets completely dark, it will be too late."
Whoosh!
As soon as he finished speaking, a large number of raindrops fell from the sky. The raindrops were about the size of a fist and stung when they hit people.
Kuro clenched his fist, and the raindrops gathered, enveloping everyone present.
"Kuro, what are you doing, guh—"
Even Lida was no exception.
After being soaked by the seawater, Kuro released his grip, letting the water disperse from their bodies.
"us..."
The captain and the sailors were stunned, put down their weapons, and looked on with deep fear.
What were they trying to do?!
There was never any precedent for infighting with colleagues like this before, and it almost escalated into an irreparable disaster.
Just then, the lieutenant raised his blade and slashed at the captain.
call!
A sudden surge of strong winds swept the lieutenant and the navy personnel behind him away.
Kuro, holding Shusui, asked Gugas, "Hey, didn't they say that soaking in seawater would cure the problem for those who aren't dead?"
Gugas remained silent, looking at Kuro with boundless sorrow.
Kuro's hand holding the knife trembled slightly. "No way..."
“Yes, they are all dead,” Gugas said calmly.
"Aaaaaaah!"
A wail came from the side. Hugo knelt down, trembling as he looked at his hands. His face, too, no longer showed madness; he became like a normal person.
Suddenly, as if remembering something, he abruptly looked up at Kuro and said quickly, "Everyone in Tada Town died three days ago. The people here aren't even human!"
Kuro frowned and asked, "You made the call?"
"Hurry up and leave, there's no time. Take the intelligence back and get headquarters to issue the Buster Call. This place... is already beyond saving!"
Hugo ignored Kuro's words and quickly finished speaking as if giving his last words, then a look of pain appeared on his face, "Hurry...go!"
That last sound was like a strange roar.
Dark clouds completely covered the sky, plunging the town of Tada into utter darkness.
Hugo clutched himself in agony, his skin gradually turning fiery red. He opened his mouth wide and let out a whimpering roar.
boom!
Flames erupted from his hair, facial features, and skin, only to be extinguished by the falling seawater rain.
But the flames were gone, but that didn't mean he was alright. His skin continued to turn charred, like carbonization after being burned by flames, and fiery red patterns like lava flowed across his body.
Just as the book says, endure the burning pain.
Besides Hugo, the people who were blown away by Kuro's sword were also in the same state, their bodies twisted, their expressions terrifying, and steam rising from their bodies as the rain fell.
Each one of them became like this.
"It hurts so much, it hurts so much, blood, give me blood..."
Hugo reached out shakily, his charred hand swelling slightly, his fingers becoming extremely sharp, like animal claws.
Give me blood!!!
The charred face no longer showed any expression, but was instead filled with endless madness.
Just as described in the book, at night, people will turn into monsters and suffer from burning pain, which can only be alleviated by taking the blood of the living.
call!
An axe spun rapidly, cleaving Hugo in two. The axe then spun forward, cutting down the other marines who had also transformed into monsters, before flying back like a boomerang.
Behind them, Gugas had somehow stood up, catching the massive axe with one hand. His eyes were icy cold, filled with madness as he stared at Kuro and the others, muttering, "Redemption..."
He fell for his trick, yet he was still able to move?
Gugas trembled, his body began to swell, and with the sound of tearing cloth, his priest's robes were ripped open, and a large amount of black hair squeezed out. His face gradually became long and narrow, and his legs bent out like a wild beast.
"Awooo!!!"
A magnificent werewolf, over five meters tall, stood upright, roaring at the dark sky.
