Chapter 290 Kuro's Call

Kuro can't leave now; he has to ensure the residents can become self-reliant.

However, this period of time will not last long.

Under the mayor's organization, a naval base was renovated in the center of town, and the surrounding area was fenced off and used as naval housing.

Along the coast, two bunkers were built, and several cannons were placed nearby, serving as a rudimentary coastal defense.

From his new office, Kuro overlooked the entire Pegasus Town. Because the base was in the center, Kuro could see the whole town.

It has been almost half a month since Cass arrived.

The residents of Pegasus Town gradually settled down.

Looking down, townspeople began to appear one after another on the streets, acting as merchants and selling their wares.

Pegasus Island still has resources. Without the threat of pirates, the townspeople will be more active, whether for their own survival or for other reasons.

The island is gradually getting back on track, and there's no need for anyone to worry about it anymore.

"Are we really going to the Flower Country, Mr. Kuro?"

Kro adjusted his glasses and said, "There are also unknown powerful figures in that place. I heard there are nine naval forces alone, and the leader of the 'Happo Navy' was once said to be a great pirate."

"I'm not going to fight pirates, I'm just looking for a craftsman and a cook," Kuro said. "He's such a troublesome guy, only someone who's sick would go to him."

Green Pepper was worth 500 million back in the day, and he was on par with Garp back then, but what does that have to do with Kuro?

This guy's already living in seclusion, and he still has the nerve to go looking for this thing.

“Mr. Kuro, with you here on this island, there’s really no need to specifically find any craftsmen…” Kuro said.

"You're getting cocky again."

Kuro glanced at him and said, "What's wrong with this island? Cannons can't blow up houses or bullets can't kill people? No matter how capable I am, I can't say I'm watching over these people all the time. I'm not a guardian angel. If the coastal defenses aren't done well, where does the sense of security come from?"

This was the Age of Exploration, and cannons were still a threat.

Without Armament Haki and Iron Body, even Whitebeard could be injured by swords and spears, and Garp could have his defenses broken by a single axe blow.

You say they're strong? They're so strong that you can't fight them, they can easily beat you.

You might say they're weak, but a single bullet could take them out.

Not to mention ordinary people.

There must be craftsmen who can build fortresses, and for the sake of enjoying comforts, there must also be a cook.

Kuro did call the old man, but it was pretty much the same thing: none of the famous craftsmen in the Navy were at headquarters.

For example, Vice Admiral Kongming has a naval officer under his command who is skilled at modifying ships and bases, but he treats him like a treasure, and Kizaru is not familiar with him; he belongs to Granny Tsuru's faction.

Asking for favors indiscriminately will create favors, and favors mean trouble.

Anyway, the Flower Country is so close, there's no harm in making a trip there.

With Cass here, there's unlikely to be any trouble.

“Then I’ll go find Cass.”

With that, Kro was about to leave.

"No need."

Kuro waved his hand and called out directly, "Cass, Cass!"

call!

No sooner had they finished speaking than the outer door was suddenly kicked open, and a strange object, emitting rising heat, appeared in front of the three of them.

Cass was radiating visible heat as he gave an exceptionally perfect salute. "Colonel Kuro, you called me!"

Kro pursed his lips and whispered, "I remember you were training in the square down below, why are you so fast?"

"Don't underestimate a hot-blooded monster with a heart full of worship. Kuro's call is incredibly effective," Lida muttered to herself.

Even Kuro himself was helpless about this scene.

He looked around to make sure he didn't have tentacles or any candy to give him.

Although they all live on the sea, they are still different.

This guy, Kassadin, has been acting increasingly strangely lately, to the point that Kuro began to suspect that he might be worshipping some kind of evil god or something from the Old Ones.

He could turn a simple training session in the square into a ritualistic ceremony with his group of naval officers.

"Get the ship ready. I'm going to the Flower Country. You stay here and guard the area. Don't let any pirates in," Kuro said to him.

"Understood, Colonel Kuro. I will replenish the supplies. As for personnel rations, will they remain the same as before?" Cass asked.

As Kuro's former adjutant, he was very familiar with Kuro's habits.

Whenever a ship sets sail, the navy packs it to its maximum capacity, with food and other supplies fully loaded.

"The same old thing, go and get ready." Kuro waved his hand.

"yes!"

Cass saluted again, then turned into a cloud of steam and disappeared in a flash.

Kro said with some envy, "That ability is used really cleverly."

It would be a lie to say I'm not envious of their speed-up ability.

But he missed it at the time, and there was nothing he could do about it.

Moreover, he is quite satisfied with his current abilities.

"Huh?"

Just then, Lida's ears twitched, and she looked out the window at the distant sea. "Kuro, it looks like a ship is coming."

On the sea, several ships gradually approached.

As the ship drew closer, the townspeople around them could see what it looked like; it was just an ordinary merchant ship, but its size was astonishing.

"Finally, we can see the islands."

On the ship, a merchant smiled and said, "This must be Pegasus Island. I heard it's been taken over by pirates."

"Boss, pirates don't need to stop here, do they?" one of his subordinates said worriedly.
