Kuro closed his eyes slightly, looking at the horrific scene before him. After a long pause, he said, "Hey, witch, are these frenzied beasts capable of doing such things?"
"I don't know, this is the first time I've seen this either..."
Fanny's face was pale as she fought back nausea. "Fruit monkeys have absolutely no interest in meat. They are very gentle and will not attack people unless provoked. They will even help people by giving fruit to the hungry. So why is this happening?!"
Those fruit monkeys are eating people!
"The scent of the Guardian Ape? Where is it now?" Kuro asked.
Kro pointed in a certain direction, "Over there."
Kuro's eyes reddened slightly, then he gritted his teeth and said, "It has quite a strong aura. I want to see what it's up to!"
From his senses, that direction was teeming with life.
It's probably a town.
Are guardian apes attacking the town?
Bang!
Kuro's body rose into the air, creating a shockwave that sent him hurtling through the air at an imperceptible speed. The force of the impact was like a whirlwind, causing trees and grass to bow down.
Soon, Kuro saw the outline of a town ahead.
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of the town, a group of people had piled up debris to form a defensive line. Outside the line, several people were already lying down. Further back, a pack of wild beasts had gathered, growling softly at the people inside the line.
Their group included cattle, horses, and wolves, all with bloodshot eyes, occasionally stomping their hooves, looking extremely ferocious.
Inside the defensive line, a group of civilians held pitchforks and wooden sticks, some carrying torches, others holding muskets, their faces solemn.
"roar..."
One of the wolves took a step forward.
"Don't come any closer!"
An old man waved a torch, causing the wolf that was moving forward to take a step back, as if it were afraid of the firelight.
"You bunch of beasts!"
A burly man, holding a musket, looked at the group of corpses lying outside. His breathing grew heavy. He leaped out of the defensive line and pulled the trigger at a wild beast, shouting, "I'm going to kill you all to avenge my brother!"
"Don't go out!"
The old man holding the torch shouted instinctively, but it was too late. With a gunshot, the strong man fired his musket. The lead bullet was too inaccurate and only hit the wolf's feet. However, the next moment, a cry came from the sky.
"Bah!!!"
A huge eagle swooped down from the sky, its iron-like claws piercing the strong man's skull, leaving several bloody holes.
The burly man stared in astonishment at the eagle soaring back into the sky. He tried to raise his gun, but as soon as his trembling hand moved upward, he collapsed and fell silent.
"Bah!!!"
The eagle circled once in the air and cried out again. Then, countless tiny dots appeared in the sky. These were birds of prey—eagles, falcons, vultures, and even crows—all swooping down towards the humans inside the defensive line.
At the same time, the beasts on the ground kicked their hooves and charged forward.
They were incredibly fast. Before anyone inside the defensive line could react, the leading eagle swooped down on one of the men's heads, its claws slashing out and leaving several bloody holes in his skull.
"Thanos!"
The old man cried out in grief and indignation, his eyes filled with despair as he watched the approaching pack of wild beasts.
"Run! Grandpa Locke!" Someone grabbed the old man and prepared to retreat.
"There's no escaping it..."
The old man dejectedly let go of the torch, letting it fall to the ground, and covered his face, crying, "Retribution! This is all retribution! Wu Lang will not be appeased until we die!"
These words seemed to be a spell, freezing those who were preparing to flee in place. But just then, birds of prey in the sky and wild beasts on the ground broke through the defenses. A wolf opened its jaws, ready to bite the old man.
They seem to have... given up the fight.
call!
Suddenly, a gust of wind blew by.
A gentle breeze rustled, and the old man felt a gust of wind blow up from behind him, followed by the smell of blood, and then the surroundings fell silent.
The roars of beasts and the chirping of birds vanished in an instant, leaving only a still, tranquil silence.
"This, this..."
As a voice filled with surprise and terror approached, the old man, without feeling the pain of being bitten by a wild beast, opened his eyes and saw a pile of flesh and blood fragments in front of him, their cuts smooth as if slashed by a sharp knife.
Animal meat and bird meat were piled up together, forming a blood and flesh field.
"There's someone in the sky!"
A person pointed at the sky and shouted.
The old man looked up and saw a person standing in the sky, slowly sheathing the knife in his hand.
He's flying in the sky?!
"That cloak...is it a navy man?!" someone exclaimed.
Kuro slowly landed on the ground, looked at the astonished crowd, and said slowly, "Goro, what is that thing?"
"Mr. Kuro!"
Behind them, Kro had transformed into a werewolf and was running wildly with Lida and Fanny.
"A wolf, a werewolf?!"
The civilians turned pale and instinctively raised their weapons, but soon, their faces turned not only pale but also filled with fear, because when Kro arrived, he transformed into human form.
Devil Fruits are something that Kuro and his friends have seen quite often, but for ordinary people, in some regions, Devil Fruits are practically legendary.
In regions like the Twin Horse Kingdom, which are associated with witch legends, werewolves are also a legend, on par with demons, the kind that can scare children to tears.
Now that werewolves can turn into humans, that's what terrifies them.
Where is that thing?
