Kuro asked in surprise, "An animal?"
"Huff...huff..."
The lion lay on the ground, breathing weakly, but it was not dead yet. Its eyes stared straight at the people, the crimson pupils had faded and become cloudy.
Kuro spat and slid down, preparing to finish off the troublesome lion with a single blow.
"Huh? Aren't you a lion?"
Suddenly, Old K pointed at it and exclaimed, "I remember you!"
These words made Kuro pause, look at Old K with a puzzled expression.
"Ah... Colonel Kuro, I recognize this lion."
Old K said, "I encountered this lion a year ago. It blocked my way. I thought its fur was nice and I was considering keeping it as a pet, but it ran away. Please don't kill it. I finally found it, and I want to catch it and keep it in my palace."
“Your Highness, this lion can turn into a monster!” an official warned.
"Yeah, it can turn into a monster..."
Old K thought for a moment and said, "Then let's kill it, skin it, and sew a beautiful dress for it before the ceremony to add some splendor to my coronation!"
"You're really lucky to be alive..."
Kuro asked, "Why did you encounter it back then?"
Upon hearing this, Old K revealed a smug look on his face. "A year ago, I executed a traitor who disobeyed my orders. I had already said that no kabuki were allowed in the country, and that kabuki performers should just come to the palace to perform for me. But I heard that someone was performing in private, but I couldn't catch him, so I simply had someone from a town invite him over, and then I executed him in that town."
Hearing this, Kuro remained silent for a moment, glanced at the motionless lion, and said to Old K, "You really are lucky to be alive..."
