In the blink of an eye, Cass noticed their condition: their movements were perfectly synchronized, they were completely fearless of death, but they... had no heart!
They're all human, so why don't they have hearts?
"I fight pirates, and no matter how evil they are, they all have hearts."
Cass cried out as tears streamed down his face, "How can a person be heartless!"
What are you yelling about?
Judge, who was not far away, sneered: "They are clones, of course they don't have hearts. I never gave them those things in the first place. They are just consumables that have just been produced. As long as they complete the orders, that's enough."
"Clones..."
Cass parried an attack from a clone soldier and looked at him sadly, saying, "Clones also have hearts. How can they be heartless? How can they be heartless? As long as it is a life, it should have a heart and emotions."
He dodged the clone soldiers' attack and cried out, "I can feel it, I can feel it! You are in your newly 'born' form, you should be curious about everything, not so rigid!"
"Cass, what are you doing?"
Kuro couldn't help but say, "If you want to fight, then fight. If you don't want to fight, then get out of my way and don't get in my way."
He wants to be complained about, why is this guy stirring up trouble?
"Commander Kuro, please give me a chance!"
With tears streaming down his face, Cass pleaded with Kuro, "Let me try, just let me try! People have hearts, even enemies should have hearts! Even evil should have its heart tainted by evil. How can evil that is manipulated be real? What's the difference between this and killing an innocent baby?!"
He clenched his fists and roared, "As long as there is life, there will be a heart. If you are to be enemies, at least let me kill you fair and square!"
"That's really exciting..."
Reiju shrugged. "But it's no use. They're just expendable products produced by Father. They're not born with those things. Give up, Navy. You're wasting your time."
"Wishful thinking."
Ichiji scoffed dismissively, "How could a clone soldier have a heart? Besides, what is that kind of thing if not a burden?"
"clown!"
Judge glanced at Cass, shook his head, and said to Kuro, "Just like you, you're a bunch of clown marines who keep talking about justice all day long. Only the victors have the right to talk about that! My clone soldiers are perfectly controlled by my technology. Emotions never existed in the first place."
The words had barely left his mouth when a loud shout rang out: "Remember now!!!"
The sound was deafening, startling all the attacking clones, who instantly stopped their attack.
The white steam surrounding the navy gradually spread out, seemingly threatening to wrap around the clone soldiers they were fighting.
"You are human beings, that's beyond question!"
Cass charged out at high speed, slashing through the chest of a clone soldier, from which blood spurted.
"See that? It's red! Blood is red! Red blood is the mark of being human!"
"Remember! When you were just 'born,' your curiosity about the world, even if it was only for a moment, please remember that feeling, that is the mark of being human, that is human emotion!"
A white aura enveloped the clone soldiers.
"How is that possible..."
At that moment, Judge's eyes widened suddenly, revealing an expression of disbelief.
Those clone soldiers in battle actually hesitated!
They didn't immediately carry out his orders, but hesitated. The cold faces of these clone soldiers clearly showed a different kind of brilliance.
What's this!
His technique should be perfect; there shouldn't even be any hesitation!
"All of you, charge! Take down those marines! Do you want to be sent back to the furnace for rework?!" Judge shouted.
Upon receiving the order, the affected clones regained their cold expressions and began their attack.
"Humans!!!"
However, Cass's loud shout made the clone soldiers in front of him waver again. Even the clone soldiers surrounding the Vinsmoke family softened their expressions after hearing this voice.
General Cass raised his sword, slashed his own arm, and pointed to the spot where blood was also flowing, saying, "See? I'm bleeding too, just like you! If you still don't believe me, my comrades, let them see. We have the same mark as them!"
The navy soldiers behind them drew their swords and slashed their arms, drawing bright red blood. They raised their swords in unison so that the clone soldiers could see them.
“Uldi! How was he born?!” Cass pointed at one of the marines.
"Report! Pirates have burned down my village!" the navy officer replied, standing at attention.
"Houston, what about you!"
"Report! My mother was pregnant with me for twelve months and almost didn't give birth!"
"Klim!"
"Yes! I don't know, I was picked up by someone!"
"Kazakhs!"
"Me? I was born normally, and I come from a harmonious family."
The navy personnel whose names were called spoke one by one.
Some had tragic backgrounds, some didn't know their own origins, and some came from normal families.
After questioning them, Cass looked back at the clones and exclaimed, "Everyone is born differently, including you. Perhaps your birth times are short and your birth methods are the same, but to us, you are different people!"
