Chapter 44 I'd rather die than perform meritorious service!

call out!

A flash of light appeared above Kuro's head, and he transformed into Kizaru, wielding a lightsaber and slashing down.

"The Mysterious Art of the Unknown Divine Style: Black Tortoise!"

Kizaru's lightsaber struck an air shield. He let out a soft exclamation, his left foot glowing as he kicked it away, sending a beam of light blasting out in front of Kuro.

boom!

The beam of light exploded in front of Kuro, revealing the shape of the shield. However, it was not a shield, but a huge tortoise shell, with a large snake coiled around it.

The giant snake opened its massive jaws at Kizaru, and the moment Kizaru was stared at by the snake's eyes, he found himself unable to move.

The Xuanwu Mystic Art is the only non-lethal technique of the Mysterious God Wind Style. The tortoise shell provides absolute defense, while the giant snake restricts human movement.

"cut!"

Seizing the opportunity, Kuro gripped his sword and slashed down.

Just as the attack was about to strike, Kizaru broke free from the giant snake's restraints, transformed into a golden light, and dodged, appearing in the distance.

He ran his finger over the scar on his cheek and exclaimed in surprise, "That's terrifying! It's beyond the level of ordinary swordsmanship."

"Even the most profound techniques can't do anything about you, old man."

Kuro spat. He had been forced to use two of his ultimate techniques, but that was normal. His opponent was one of the few monsters, and he hadn't expected to be able to kill him easily just by using his ultimate techniques.

Kizaru whistled: "You'd better get serious, or you'll get killed by me, bro."

"Stop joking, old man."

Kuro brandished his blade, "But I'm still confident I can hurt you."

"Oh? That's scary."

Kizaru's mouth bulged out, and although his tone seemed relaxed, he was actually much more serious than before.

Kuro could sense that the atmosphere had changed.

He licked his lips, a hint of excitement in his eyes. Since he'd already started fighting, he might as well go all the way.

The opponent is one of the rare monsters on the sea, with top-notch mental and physical skills. He wants to see where the gap lies.

The previous battle with Hawkeye wasn't quite enough!

Kuro took a deep breath, and his Armament Haki began to activate, starting from his arms and legs and rising upwards. The Armament Haki on his arms extended to his shoulders, and tentacles-like aura extended from the edges, filling his chest. The Armament Haki on his legs wrapped around his waist.

It looked as if it were wearing a layer of jet-black armor.

"Oh my, what a terrifyingly domineering aura."

Kizaru said in surprise.

Kuro gripped the blade tightly and said slowly, "Grandpa, be careful."

"Oh~ How scary, I'm not fighting anymore."

Kuro was taken aback by these words, then retorted angrily, "You've provoked me! You think you can just say we won't fight and then we won't?!"

"Well, it's just a test of my strength. After all, I'm your direct superior. I'm just doing this out of a sense of responsibility. Don't be so angry. Go inside and have a cup of tea to calm down."

He transformed into a ray of light and entered the breached hole.

Seeing Kizaru recklessly enter the cave, Kuro was torn between cutting him and not cutting him.

That was the end of it.

But Kuro isn't healed yet!

How uncomfortable it must be to hold it in!

But he couldn't continue. Kizaru withdrew, and he calmed down a bit.

Kizaru's attitude indicates that only the highest levels know about this matter, and the fact that they haven't spoken to him means that his safety measures are being tolerated and tacitly approved.

He hasn't been fully exposed yet.

If the fighting continues, he'll probably become famous in the navy.

The most crucial thing is...

"As expected of a monster, even after fighting like this, we still can't see its true strength."

Kuro sighed, released his Haki, sheathed his sword, and used Moonwalk to enter the high-rise office building.

There, Kizaru had already brewed the tea.

"please."

Kizaru pushed the teacup forward, and it landed in front of Kuro.

Kuro glared at him, picked up his teacup, and drank it all in one gulp.

"Oh~ Did your anger subside a bit after having a cup of tea?" Kizaru chuckled.

Kuro rolled his eyes, thought for a moment, and said, "Grandpa, I don't have any grand ambitions. I just want to live a safe life. I know you're very easygoing. How about you just treat me like an ordinary subordinate?"

"Well, sure."

Kizaru's answer was unexpected by Kuro, yet it made perfect sense.

After all, this is Kizaru.

Kuro gave a thumbs up. "That's righteous, alright old man. I thought you wanted to use me as a tool to solve your problems, so you could live a leisurely life of clocking in and out, smoking and drinking tea, and cutting your nails all the time. But with those words, I'll take care of you in your old age and see you off when you retire."

He didn't mind at all that Kizaru had insisted on challenging him to a duel earlier.

"How touching. You're the first person to say you'd be there for me in my final days. Should I thank you, Kuro?" Kizaru's tone remained unchanged.

Kuro shrugged indifferently.

"Well, never mind. I've had a good impression of you since the first time I saw you. You and I are the same kind of people. Since you're going to be my son when I die, why don't you become my son?"

He spread his hands toward Kuro and asked.

You think you're some kind of white-bearded devil?!

Kuro twitched the corner of his mouth, stood up, and casually picked up the cigar box on Kizaru's table. "If there's nothing else, I'll be going now, old man. I'll invite you over for tea sometime."

The general's cigars, good stuff.

He left without waiting for Kizaru to speak.

Kizaru watched his retreating figure and whistled, "What an interesting young man. How terrifying. He has the strength of an admiral candidate. Should I report this to Sengoku...?"
