The red sun gradually rises higher.
As the battle raged on, the night sky gradually receded, and a corner of the eastern sun began to rise, ushering in dawn.
The numerous sailors on the beach had stopped and stood quietly in a circle.
In the middle of the navy, Kuro pulled out Shusui and flicked it, spraying out a clump of blood.
Zephyr had already fallen to the ground when Kuro drew his sword.
A smile still lingered on his face, a smile that carried a sense of relief and satisfaction.
"ha..."
Kuro sighed, sheathed Autumn Water, and stared at Zephyr with a complicated expression.
The officers and soldiers in the vicinity all wore complex expressions.
Kuro watched for a while, then closed his eyes. "Goodbye, Zephyr-sensei."
Zefa died under their siege.
These were the very people who had been personally trained in the past, and it was they who accomplished this feat, especially Kuro, the last one to be trained, who personally delivered the final blow.
"Looks like it's over."
Borsalino walked over, looking at Zeff's corpse. A strange light flashed in his sunglasses. He glanced at the ice wall and said, "Speaking of which, did Kuzan come too?"
You old man, you're asking a question you already know the answer to.
Kuro rolled his eyes. Logically speaking, you should have known by now whether he was coming or not.
However, it doesn't really matter.
"What do we do with Zephyr's body?" Kuro asked.
"Of course we'll take him back. Although he's no longer a Marine, he's not wanted either. There's no rule that says Marines can't bury civilians," Kizaru shrugged.
"Alright, but..."
Kuro leaned over to Zephyr, grasped his right hand, and with a forceful pull, removed the prosthetic limb.
“I’ll keep this as a memento,” Kuro said, holding up his prosthetic arm.
Everyone naturally had no objection to this.
After all, the person has died, so it's normal to want some kind of memorial.
After collecting Zefa's body, the group dispersed.
They wouldn't stay here long, after all, most of the navy had come. They were either base commanders in important locations or had missions to perform. If it weren't for Zephyr's special status, they wouldn't have been able to gather together.
Without even stopping, they completed their mission and immediately set sail.
"Kuro, aren't you leaving?"
Kizaru asked Kuro at the port.
“I’m staying for one night and I’m a little tired,” Kuro said.
Kizaru nodded: "Alright, I'll be waiting for you at headquarters. It's time for you to take up your post."
With that, Kizaru boarded the ship and left.
After everyone left, Kuro shook his head, looked back, and said, "Hey, you've been watching for so long, shouldn't you come out now?"
"Oh dear, you found out, Kuro."
On the high slope, Kuzan walked out, scratching his head, and said, "I thought I wouldn't be discovered."
Kuro smirked. "Are you treating people like idiots? You think you can't see that huge ice wall?"
"Zeff-sensei!!"
The moment Kuzan appeared, two more people ran out from behind him. Ain and Binz rushed over and threw themselves onto the shattered mechanical arm on the beach, crying loudly.
“That’s how it is. I originally wanted to leave, but these two are, after all, my junior brothers and sisters, ah... you could say your senior sisters and senior brothers, right? After all, you joined the sect the latest,” Kuzan said.
"Stop joking!"
Kuro's forehead bulged with a vein. "Does this thing even have a hierarchy?! I've never heard of that before!"
He was a candidate for general, and was considered Ain's junior brother?
Unacceptable!
"Anyway, that's the gist of it. Can I take this mechanical arm with me?" Kuzan pointed at the mechanical arm and said, "After all, I'm not a Marine anymore. If I want to keep something as a memento, I'll have to rely on other items."
"Whatever you want. Nobody wants that thing anyway. To be honest, that idiot Vegapunk is incompetent. He could have just gotten a prosthetic limb. Why bother with a mechanical arm or any external object? It's never a good thing," Kuro said, clicking his tongue.
"Hey, you have no right to say that," Kuzan said, pointing at his waist.
"Shut up! I'm a swordsman and a power user! Not a martial arts expert!"
Kuro roared, "Are you ever going to shut up? If you have nothing to say, get out of my sight right now, or I'll arrest you! Arrest you, you pirate from the Blackbeard Pirates!"
"Oh dear, is your voice really that harsh..."
Kuzan scratched his head, looked at Zephyr, paused, and said, "Well... it's not bad either. A man who finally fulfills his long-cherished wish is still pretty cool. Speaking of which, what about these two? The NEO Marines have defeated a lot of pirates before. If our teacher is gone, these two will have a hard time surviving."
"Just say what you want to say, there's no need to beat around the bush."
Kuro, with a cigar in his mouth, walked over and kicked Binz, who was still crying.
The two stopped crying and looked at Kuro.
“I once said that if Teacher Zephyr is no longer able to work, I can take care of you. You were all in the Navy before, and now you're just considered to have left. I can rehire you. So, are you interested in working under me?” Kuro asked.
He owed Zefa a debt of gratitude, and these two were also his fellow disciples; there was no reason for him to watch them struggle in the new world.
Indeed, as Kuzan said, without Zephyr, the NEO Navy would be a disorganized mess and would eventually be wiped out by envious pirates.
Those soldiers are easy to deal with; hardly anyone knows them anyway. If they want to retire, they can retire directly. If they still want to survive at sea, there are places available for them in our G-3.
