Chapter 726 The Biggest 'Human Trafficker'

"Huff...huff..."

Inside the alley, the man holding the roast chicken was panting heavily, but he dared not stop walking.

Clang!

While running, he bumped into a trash can in the alley, falling flat on his face and dropping the oil paper package to the ground.

But soon, the man stood up again, limped, picked up the oil paper package, and glanced back with lingering fear.

With just one glance, I knew something was wrong.

"Where do you think you're going!"

A delicate shout came from behind; before anyone could be seen, the voice echoed around like a ghost.

"Give me back my roast chicken, you thief!"

The man looked horrified, enduring the pain of twisting his ankle from the fall, and ran forward recklessly, quickly disappearing around the corner again.

Not long after he disappeared, afterimages flashed in the alley, then coalesced in the middle to form the image of Lida.

"You can't escape!"

A red dot appeared in Lida's eye. "If I see you again, you won't be able to escape!"

With that, she transformed into a blur once more and chased after the man in the direction he had fled.

She's so close now. Next time, she'll definitely be able to catch this man and get her roast chicken back!

The man kept running, running and running, across streets and alleys, even though his lungs felt like they were on fire and his ankles were swollen high. The excruciating pain made him want to stop and lie down immediately, because if he lay down, he wouldn't be in so much pain.

But he kept running. He dared not stop, or even have the thought of stopping, because if he rested, he would really be unable to run anymore.

He glanced down at the roast chicken in his arms, a fierce glint appearing in his eyes, and continued forward.

"It's getting closer!"

"It's getting closer!!"

Red dots flashed in Lida's eyes, flashing wildly through the streets and alleys. Her white hair and white cloak, combined with her high speed, made her look like a white ghost chasing mortals in the night.

If she hadn't failed to pinpoint the man immediately, she would have found him long ago, instead of wandering around like a headless fly.

Her Observation Haki has a wide range, but for ordinary people, which are essentially living beings, it's no problem to foresee danger. However, if someone poses no danger to you at all, then there's no question of foreseeing danger.

"Crow! Where is he?!"

Lida cried out.

A figure flashed past from behind. A dark shadow crawled forward on all fours like a wild beast, descending from a height and landing next to Lida.

They were currently in a residential area, consisting of two- or three-story, opulent houses, decorated much like other parts of the commercial district. However, the atmosphere was quite mixed. It seemed that there were people in these buildings, but it was unusually quiet.

Kro sniffed and pointed in one direction. "The smell is coming from this side."

There was a house in that direction.

"There?!"

Lida flashed to the front of the house, and with a loud bang, the door burst open the moment she appeared, revealing a pitch-black interior.

"Give me back my roast chicken!!"

The moment the door was broken open, Lida roared inside, creating a sonic boom that shook the entire room.

The darkness gradually dissipated.

The neon lights from outside illuminated the interior of the house.

Unlike the opulent exterior of the house, the interior, though clean, was completely empty. A few pieces of furniture, which could be described as 'haphazardly made,' and a kerosene lamp on the table were all that existed in the living room.

In the living room, the man who stole her roast chicken was sitting on the floor next to an opened oil paper package. Around him, several children were huddled together, wolfing down the roast chicken.

These children, who looked very thin, were kneeling and, upon hearing the noise, looked up in alarm, revealing their pale and malnourished little faces.

This scene stunned Lida for a moment.

Bang!

When the door was kicked open, the man immediately knelt down, banging his head on the ground, and cried out, "Please spare me! I... I had no choice. My child was too hungry. I had no other option. Please forgive me!"

As he spoke, he kept kowtowing to Lida.

"dad!"

Several children rushed over and hugged the man tightly, their eyes filled with fear as they looked at Lida.

Cuckoo—

The rumbling came from inside the man's stomach.

Lida thought for a moment, then tilted her head: "Are you hungry?"

"yes!"

The man didn't look up and said, "I've been starving for many days, and I really couldn't find anything to eat, so I had no choice but to walk like this. If, if there has to be punishment, it has nothing to do with my child. I did it all. Please arrest me!"

"I see..." the girl's voice rang out again.

The man closed his eyes, waiting for the judgment to begin.

This little girl, after all, was wearing a navy cloak; she was a navy person, and she was already prepared when she took the things.

I just didn't expect it to come so quickly.

Bang bang bang.

The sound of something falling to the ground rang out in front of him, and then a voice came from ahead:

"What? If you're hungry, just say so. I hate it when people steal my food, but if a hungry person asks me for some, of course I'll give it to them."

The man looked up and saw the little girl from the navy throwing all her bags on the ground.

“Well, if you’re hungry, you have to eat. Kuro taught me that. Eat up,” Lida said.

"This, this..." The man's eyes widened, his expression one of disbelief. "Is this really possible?"
