Chapter 754 A Matter of Stance

On the other side of the battlefield, there was another military camp. Unlike the fervor on the Dressrosa side, this camp was somewhat dejected and very quiet.

Around the military camp, a group of people dressed in grass-leaf uniforms that only covered their vital parts, with an iron breastplate strapped to their chests, stood guard, staring motionlessly ahead.

Cass and Wilbur spotted the military camp from afar, and just as they were about to approach with their group, a strange noise came from the jungle.

"stop!"

Two figures emerged from the jungle, both with dark skin and dressed in grass, carrying flintlock rifles with tense and solemn expressions.

"Navy, what are you doing here?" one of them asked in a cold voice.

Cass said, "I came here specifically to see what your King Randolph was asking for help from."

"Are they here to help us?" Another guard asked, his face lighting up with delight.

Cass said, "We'll just take a look first, and then decide whether to help or not."

"Come in." The indifferent guard put down his gun and led the sailors to the military camp.

The military camp consisted of a simple wooden fence. As the sailors approached, Donald frowned, sensing a unease in the eyes of the men in the camp.

Depressing, disheartening, and tragic.

A quiet sense of oppression.

As far as the eye could see, people were either fighting or sitting, fiddling with their weapons. When the navy arrived, they merely glanced up before lowering their heads to continue fiddling with their weapons.

Wilbur asked, "Where is your commander?"

The man leading the way paused for a moment, then said, "There was no commander. He died on the battlefield. If you have any questions, just ask me. My name is Yev. This damned war has cost us so many of our finest comrades."

“War...Dressrosa did something terrible to you?” Wilbur asked.

Upon hearing this, Yev's expression turned to extreme rage, and he shouted, "That's considered excessive?! That's animalistic! It's just war, just war! I heard that the conquest of Dressrosa only involved fighting on the front lines, and only enemies on the battlefield were killed; they never did anything to the families, but, but..."

His eyes filled with tears, and his voice was hoarse: "My village, my family, all burned down in Dressrosa! Liars, all liars! What talk of common progress and civilization, what talk of peace on the sea! We even had expectations, and they betrayed us! They're just demons."

Upon hearing this, the men in the military camp were filled with anger.

Snap!

One of them threw down his bow and arrows, stood up, and roared, "Fight them! They're just demons! We will never surrender, we will never surrender!"

"That's right, we will never surrender!!" the remaining men roared.

The once dull military camp was now bustling with activity.

This made Wilbur frown; to be honest, he didn't really believe it.

Because he had seen David.

David visited when Kuro was away, and Wilbur received him. The king's devotion to Mr. Kuro was genuine. Although it was unclear why a king would be so devoted to the navy, Wilbur was deeply moved and gave David a copy of "The Book of Justice".

That's a treasure!

He didn't even want to publish it, believing that it would be a stain on Mr. Kuro's justice, because in the past, no other navy officer could explain the great principles of justice as clearly as Mr. Kuro.

Other naval personnel only shout their own version of justice, which is just their unique understanding, unlike Mr. Kuro, whose understanding of justice allows even mediocre people like him to have a firm belief.

He only had a few books, all of which he copied word by word with a reverent attitude.

These are categorized into personal use, collection, and training.

He gave David the righteous sayings used for instruction, and later copied them into a book.

Wilbur was certain he couldn't be wrong about someone like David, who also upheld Mr. Clow's justice. How could he be the kind of person who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals?

So when Wilbur learned that the enemy was Dressrosa, he was puzzled. Cass had also heard Wilbur talk about the pious David before, and his trust in Wilbur made him think it was unlikely, so he asked first.

But the results of his inquiry left him feeling rather awkward.

"Is David really that kind of person?" Wilbur murmured to himself.

"Enemy attack! Enemy attack!!"

Suddenly, a sound came from outside the military camp. A soldier from the Kingdom of Raya came running up, panting, and shouted, "Dresrosa is attacking again!!"

Yev gripped his spear tightly, his teeth clenched, his eyes bloodshot. "Let's fight! Even if we die, we'll make Dressrosa feel the pain! For revenge!!"

"For revenge!!" the soldiers shouted, rushing forward in a swarm.

“Cas…”

Wilbur hesitated and asked, "What do we do?"

Cass closed his eyes, and suddenly tears streamed down his face. "How tragic..."

"I could sense the sadness beneath their anger. Dressrosa was certainly not acting in a just manner!"

Cass opened his eyes and shouted, "Evil is the enemy of justice! We, the unyielding righteousness, will not yield or be bound by any stance. Although we cannot dominate the main war, we can stop it if we want to! Dressrosa should not slaughter civilians!"

As he spoke, he walked forward with the soldiers, “To the battlefield. We will not dominate this war, but we will not allow Dressrosa to continue its invasion!”

A white mist began to emanate from his body, enveloping each of the sailors.
