Chapter 889 Rare Beast Island

On the other side of the island, a huge golden ship also anchored on the shallows and soon landed.

The island is divided into two sides. One side is a forest that covers most of the island, which sits on top, while below it are cliffs surrounded by shallow Gobi desert.

"here it is..."

Lida stepped down and looked at the island. "Ah! I've been to this island before. It's the 'Legendary Island'."

"The legendary island?"

Kuro and Kro spoke up in unison, their expressions showing surprise.

Is this the island?

Kuro looked up at the great forest above. "I've heard before that gods live on the island, and anyone who dares to approach will be cursed."

Kuro nodded. "They're quite famous in the East Blue pirate world. Rumor has it that someone suddenly grew a boar's head overnight, and another's beard suddenly grew so long he strangled himself. But that was in the past..."

When they were in the East Sea, Kuro would also attribute this phenomenon to curses or legends.

But if you tell him now that someone suddenly grew a wild boar's head overnight, he'll tell you that he probably ate a Devil Fruit. Similarly, someone whose beard grows so long that it can strangle someone is also a Devil Fruit.

"Lida, what's on the island? Devil Fruits? No... there shouldn't be any. If there were, you wouldn't be able to see me." Kuro looked at Lida.

She won't have any Devil Fruits. Knowing her personality, if she encountered one, she'd probably swallow it without even looking at it. If she had two Devil Fruits, she'd be dead.

"There are only some strange wild beasts and some delicious fruit."

Lida licked her lips. "The fruit on this island is delicious. I ate a lot. Oh, and there's also a treasure chest uncle."

"Uncle Treasure Chest?" Kuro asked.

"Yeah! He's a really nice guy, but he's always stuck in his box and can't get out. There are lots of good wild animals inside, and it's a nice island." Lida nodded.

"So you didn't stay back then?" Kuro asked again.

Lida pouted. "I want to eat meat. Although there are wild animals here, they are too intelligent, just like humans. I can't eat them. I get tired of eating fruit all the time. And there's this old man here. It's so boring. I don't want to be here."

"I see, a rare beast, is it?"

Kuro looked up and said, "Let's go take a look. I've never been here before during all those years in the East Sea. I'm really curious to know what this rare beast is like."

Seeing that Kuro seemed to be preparing to leave, Kikyo followed and said, "Are you going up? I want to go too, to see if there are any good ingredients."

"Okay, let's do it together then," Kuro nodded.

"Huh? You want to catch a chicken..."

"Stop right there!!"

Kuro shouted out, interrupting Kikyo's next words.

"Huh? You're saying you can't do it?" Kikyo tilted her head.

Kuro rolled his eyes. "Lida!"

“Kikyo-neechan, Kuro said we should go together,” Lida giggled.

Kikyo was a little confused. "Didn't I just say we'd go together? Why are you repeating it?"

"I..."

Teacher Ku gritted her teeth and angrily raised her hand to slap herself in the face.

I was wrong too; why did I have to talk to her nicely?

Kuro had a bad feeling and grabbed Kuro's hand, trying to stop him, "Don't do this, don't do this, Mr. Kuro, don't do this."

Kuro gave him a satisfied look and lowered his hand.

You're smart enough to know what's good for you. If you hadn't stopped me, I would have slapped you.

...

With Kikyo by his side, Kuro and some Marines set off from the nearby shallows and headed towards the forest above.

Even during the day, the forest remains dark, as most of the trees are dense, with only a few places where the trees are lighter in color and allow sunlight to penetrate.

"Um?"

The bellflower squatted in front of a plant that looked like a Venus flytrap, examining it closely.

"hiss..."

The plant suddenly opened its mouth and made a mock bite.

Kikyo, quick as a flash, reached out from the bitten mouth, her fingers radiating an aura of dominance.

With a crisp snap, a burst of sparks flew from Kikyo's fingers.

"Oh...not bad, it can bite through human bones. Is it a carnivorous type?"

Kikyo pried open the Venus flytrap's mouth and looked inside. "It's a pity it's not food. Perhaps it can be used as medicine... Let's take it back to Fanny and have her take a look."

She let go, grabbed the plant by the root, pulled it out, and stuffed it into her bag.

She looked up and saw a patterned banana hanging on the tree.

Kikyo sniffed the banana, reached out and picked it, peeled off the skin, revealing smooth flesh inside that was only one color.

"It has a bit of a Devil Fruit-like skin, but the taste is very sweet; it's just a regular fruit." Kikyo took a bite and nodded, "It tastes good."

"that..."

She said to the nearby sailors, "Please pick any fruits or plants that you find unusual; I want these things."

Kuro smirked. What's going on? Are bandits invading the village?

They're from the navy!

"roar..."

Suddenly, a low growl came from the depths of the forest.

A group of people looked in that direction and saw a flash of golden light.

A beast with golden fur, a head and face resembling both a lion and a tiger, and a majestic golden mane suddenly appeared.

"roar!"

The lion roared in this direction, its two teeth hanging like swords from its upper jaw.
