"Grandpa, you were looking for me?"
Kuro walked into Kizaru's office, grinning with his teeth showing.
He was ready to leave. Everything was over, and he had gotten rid of the burden. Why would he stay here if he didn't leave to avoid any complications? But just as he was about to leave, he received a message that the old man was looking for him.
"Oh~ Kuro, do you look happy?"
Kizaru sat there, leaning to the side, legs crossed, clipping his nails. Upon seeing Kuro, he instinctively pouted and said, "That's strange. Is something making you happy?"
"Ah...it's just that I'm in a good mood."
Kuro sat down directly opposite him, leaned back, and lit a cigar. "Get to the point quickly, don't disturb my vacation... no, I mean, I'm going to select the Seven Warlords of the Sea."
"There's a small matter concerning your position. Your position as the commander of G-3 base is retained. That area remains under your jurisdiction, and the nearby navy will assist you in its management. You will be in charge of all aspects of it."
Kizaru said with a chuckle.
"Hmm, that's it?" Kuro nodded casually.
Whether he's in charge of coordinating this matter or not, it makes no difference. He has the old man's backing, so what he says is pretty much the same.
"in addition..."
Kizaru pointed to a small Den Den Mushi on the table. "Take this."
"Um?"
It was only then that Kuro noticed the Den Den Mushi on Kizaru's desk. This Den Den Mushi was not activated, smaller than a normal Den Den Mushi, and gray in color.
It wasn't for eavesdropping, nor was it the kind of portable device Kuro wore on his wrist.
"What is this thing..." Kuro asked.
“A dedicated contact worm, a member of [Sword], will contact you through this worm,” Kizaru chuckled.
Kuro knew about Sword; he had just talked about it with the old man.
A group of traitors.
The key is...
Why are you giving me this?
Kuro frowned as he spoke, a bad feeling creeping into his heart.
"Well, Drake was originally chosen, but that was after he came back. Now he is one of Sword's captains, responsible for pirate intelligence in Wano Country and the surrounding waters. However, it will take some time before he returns."
Kizaru chuckled and said, "So, the duties of the Captain-Commander are now in your hands."
"Wait a minute, old man, this isn't fair!"
Kuro jumped up abruptly. "I'm in charge of G-3 now, and I oversee the Seven Warlords. You want to give me more responsibility? Managing a bunch of idiots... no, a bunch of spies? I don't have the energy for that!"
"This is a decision made by those above, not by me."
Kizaru squinted and smiled: "It's because G-3 Fortress is gone now, and they were worried you wouldn't have anything to do, so they gave you a job. Well, basically no one will contact you unless it's something important that requires you to make a decision. Otherwise, these captains can make their own decisions. You also have people under you responsible for passing on intelligence, so you'll basically be fine. Here, this is the list."
He took out two folders, one with the cover titled "List of 'Sword' Navy Insiders" and the other with the cover titled "List of 'Sword' Undercover Agents".
Both those inside and outside the navy, all of them.
"I used to take on this responsibility myself, but now I'm handing it over to you," Kizaru said with a smile.
"Wouldn't it be better if you continued to hold the position concurrently?" Kuro said through gritted teeth.
"I'm getting old and often feel lacking in energy. I was also recently injured and need to recuperate," Kizaru said with a chuckle.
"Come on..."
Kuro looked at his grinning face, gritted his teeth, and said, "It has to be me?"
"Well, you know, you can't be idle in this position, and there's no base for you right now, so this is the only way," Kizaru said with a smile. "We also need to be able to report back to the government, so they don't think we have any redundancy."
"Do those people even care about this?"
Kuro pursed his lips, then sighed and picked up the list of Navy personnel to take a look.
Within the Navy, there are members from all sorts of places, from the Four Seas Branch to the Grand Line.
Sword is a secret team, and even fellow naval personnel, unless they are members, would not know about it, except for high-ranking officers of their level.
Some are members, and some are team leaders. The information displayed includes their life stories, contact details, and locations.
Among them, Kuro saw a familiar name.
“Koby?” Kuro frowned, looking up at Kizaru. “He’s one of them too?”
"Who?" Kizaru asked in return.
"Fine, never mind, I didn't ask."
Kuro shrugged and put the document down.
Koby is listed above, along with his assigned squad, which happens to belong to the division led by Drake.
To be honest, he felt that Koby was not suitable. If it were just a pure Marine, Kuro would have no objection, since he wasn't his subordinate; that was Garp's own faction.
However, they might not be qualified to be members of such a secret naval force.
Can someone trained by Garp really become this kind of person?
It's good enough if they don't go around blabbing about it.
Then he opened the list of undercover agents and laughed at the first glance.
"I knew it, that idiot Kuzan was definitely up there."
On the first page, at the very top, is Kuzan's name: the squad leader of Sword, who is in charge of Blackbeard's territory.
Although he supposedly left the Navy, he must have passed on some of Blackbeard's intelligence.
Kuro doesn't doubt Kuzan's claim that he wants to see the world's justice and truth from a different perspective, but if you were to say that he actually went to become a pirate and cooperated with that bastard Teach, Kuro would be the first to disbelieve it.
